Yakesh roofing failed not only by doing a faulty installation of my roof, but by failing in the area of Customer Service. A simple apology for a project gone wrong was never received. They failed to respond to their customer by phone or in person in a timely manner to correct faulty work.  The "Customer is Always Right" does not seem to be in their culture.Companies need to apolize for their mistakes...it goes a long way.Regards,

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] The contractor was correct in stating the roof had prior leakage due to ice dams from previous winter.  That is why I decided on a new roof to CORRECT all leakage problems!  The new roof installed leaked with first rain after August 26, 2014 & continued to leak  & create additional interior ceiling /carpet damage. Contractor stated his liability insurance did not cover damage caused by leaks after roofing installed??Contractor did come back at least three times to investigate and apply additional caulking around chimney and certain shingles. In fact, he caulked some shingles where I latered discovered the leak. I had removed a soffit vent & pointed out to him an area in attic where leak was appearing. On his last visit he insured me his roof was solid and the leakage was all due to the condition of my stone chimney cap and joints. He sent photos of chimney stating the chimney was the issue & not his installation. His email quote from 9/16/2014:  "My professional opinion is the chimney structure itselfis causing the leaks, not our new shingle job."Based on his opinion, I had a mason remove my concrete chimney cap and fabricate a new metal chimney cover along with having all cracks/joints in chimney chiseled out and re-tuckpointed at a cost of $2687.00. The chimney cap done in November 2014 & tuckpointing done April 2015. After each chimney completion I called contractor & asked him to re-inspect roof as it STILL leaked in exactly the same spot as August 2014. No calls were returned to me! I called & emailed many times with no response.
On my own initiative I crawled into attic and discovered a section of rotted deck wood that had been roofed over & one could see the applied iceguard membrane with nails sticking thru. After contacting a regional Owens Corning representative & stating my problems with the contractor, I utilized a garden hose on roof to verify the 'roof was leaking" & not the chimney! The leak appeared in attic within 5 to 7 minutes of applying water & leak was in exact spot previously pointed out as shingles not sealing correctly .After I had two other Owens Corning approved contractors inspect my roof, they found other roof discrepencies & verifed the leak I pinpointed. After sending voice mails & emails about issue to original contractor, Yakesh roofing sent two employees on Sunday, May 3, 2015 to examine same & they agreed it was original INSTALL problem & not chimney issue.  Contractor's offer to repair did not include CORRECTLY flashing chimney as OWENS CORNING states & they refused to correct shingles incorrectly aligned. And still no verbal contact to me after repeated calls.I had the top rated Owens Corning in Eau Claire to repair roof & they discovered two additional areas that were leaking due to original contractor errors. An incorrect installation of a cricket by chimney and the excessive use of 60+ nails along a strip of flashing. They also discovered other issues.Regards,

Review: A complete tear off & installation of my new residential roof with Owen Corning roofing components was completed on August 26, 2014 by Yakesh Roofing & Siding.

The roof had leaks with the first heavy rain after installation.

Initial call resulted in contractor applying additional caulking around chimney area & stated the roof should be good & the chimney was cause due to cracks in mortar & chimney cap. Leak still appeared after re-caulking. Following call he said leak was not due to his roof install. Leaks continued.

I contacted a local brick & masonry company to inspect the chimney and they only confirmed some cracks in chimney mortar but would not state it would cause leaks. To eliminate the chimney as a leak cause, I had all mortar chiseled out along with chimney cap removal. They installed a new metal chimney cap & re-tuck pointed the entire chimney.

With next rain in about two weeks, roof leaked in identical spot on roof as previously stated.

Called & left numerous messages to Yakesk Roofing owner to both business & mobile number and his email without any return calls. In messages I indicated the chimney was completely repaired by a professional who also removed old concrete cap & installed a new waterproof metal cap & to come & inspect same.

No calls or emails were returned. Roof still leaks in original spot I pointed out to roofing contractor.

Contacted regional Owens Corning representative with leak issue. They asked me to have another approved contractor to inspect work.

A different contractor approved by Owens Corning indicated an inferior installation citing multiple cases around chimney where the shingles overlapped less than 3" when it should be ~5.5"! They also pointed out a soft spot in roof in area of leak indicating where deck wood probably should have been replaced.

I examined area in attic in leak area and discovered an area that roof deck was missing & was covered over by the roofing ice guard membrane. Obviously, reason for leak.

Information was relayed to Yakesh contractor's phone numbers & email with no response.

A few days ago, I did get Yakesh owner to answer my call, but seemed to hang up when I identified my self?Desired Settlement: Request roof repair and correct installation. Request compensation & repair for damages to interior ceiling, walls of my home due to apparent inferior roof installation.
