Yakima Adjustment Center Reviews (4)

Review: I was treated very poorly by multiple employees when attempting to resolve my wife's collection. The debt was paid by [redacted] after my wife was hit in an auto accident. [redacted] took the account and started charging interest to the account that had already been paid.I called them explaining what happened. I was lied to, laughed at, cut off during explanation, and hung up on. I was refused a manager, and the account sits still unresolved, collecting interest, and ruining my wife's credit.Desired Settlement: I would like this removed from this collection agency, as well as a letter from YAS stating that this was their fault to show to financial institutions that we attempt to gain loans from in the future.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9574697, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

I am at a loss here and I have no clue where to even go any longer. We had a hospital bill in Febuary 25, 2014. In September they sent us the standard postcard stating said debt and to pay or else. Being on Disability and the wife too is diabled they are still garnishing this check. When the time of said garnishment is done. We don't get a hone call nor a letter. We get officially served again. This agency has been taking roughly 1400 dollars a month from us since September 2014. We went to the said hospital twice. It shows they have been paid since April. Yet this debt collections company still bi monthy says we still owe it. Note that our insurance covers 80-90% of the bill so it isn't a huge bill to begin with. We never get any info except you still have this bill. We had to go to the billing at our local hospital just for further information on said bill. The collection agency asked all the pertaining info to show that you are who you say you are only to tell us that they can't tell us how much nor for what specifically. Billing at the hospitol called and asked them the same thing to get the same run around and they too are stumped to why. They the hospital billing asked whats the debt for. Gall Bladder Surgery in Febuary 2014. The lady said that it has already been paid so why are they seeing this again. The collection agency hung up on her. She then told us she's sorry and that we need an attorney now as this has went on since september. That's 1200+ a month this agency took from us since then. We are now getting it again this month and can't seem to put a stop payment order. We are about to be evicted from our home and bills are piling up. It's hard to live off of 1000 dollars a month. In desperate need for any help
We do have all paperwork and pay stubs to show proof of payment. We never have gotten a letter stating we were paid up now. I need to have serious surgery due to my health. I can't move forward on this because we are trapped in a death cycle it seems. Please help or direct us. We live in Yakima, Wa and can't even afford to travel anywhere. We just got paid and have no food and no money because of this abuse.
Is this something that you can help us with or give us a Yakima Attorney that could? This has played such a toll emotionally and finacially on our lives we are at our last stop and fed up. I'll gladly call you back if interested. just let us know.
I would like this removed from this collection agency, as well as a letter from YAS stating that this was their fault to show to financial institutions that we attempt to gain loans from in the future.

Review: First off I have never had to deal with any collection issues. I received a bill from memorial hospital, but only after it had already gone to collection, so I then received a bill from Yakima Adjustment Services. At first they were nice and seemed helpful, and I set up a payment plan and everything seemed fine. I did also tell them I've never had to deal with this sort of thing and I just wanted to pay it and be done with it. Everything was fine and I made my payments on time like I said, and then I get papers delivered to me saying I now owe my balance plus all of their filing and service fees, which was over $200 more. So I had to wait until Monday to go ask why. When I went to their office and asked why I received these papers, they treated me like a criminal saying I knew I was going to get them and I refused to sign their contract and that I should just be glad they are allowing me to even make payments and not asking for the whole balance. I told them the day I had the phone conversation that I would try to come down and sign their contract that but, but if not they could just mail it. I never received a contract. They claimed I was called and they left messages, but I never had any messages on my phone, and if they called and left no message then why would I call a number back when I have no idea who they are? I left their office signing a new contract and feeling totally scammed. They claimed I knew what would happen, never sent me a contract, never left me messages like they claimed, lied, and treated me like I was a horrible person. This whole experience has left me feeling scammed by their claims, and I was treated totally unprofessionally. These people need to work on their people skills and show a little more professionalism, and maybe explain their process instead of scamming people and lying.Desired Settlement: I don't feel I should have to pay all the court fees, filing fees, and service fees they added on to my amount since they failed to communicate properly how anything they did worked. I feel like they tried to tell me as little as possible and then added on as much as they could in 'fees' and are just scammers and con artists out for as much money as they can squeeze from people.

Review: Today, 05/27/2015, at 3:23PM I, [redacted] made contact with an [redacted] at Yakima Adjustment Service Inc. regarding a debt with [redacted] incurred on 05/28/2013. This debt collector not only failed to verify my information before giving me information on the debt, but also failed to give me the mini miranda advising that she was a debt collector and that any information obtained during the call would be would be used for the purpose of debt collection. Additionally, I was served at work for this debt in front of colleagues. This was extremely embarrassing and caused me much emotional distress.

While attempting to settle my debt, this collector violated my rights under The Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Code US Code §1692 et. seq., item #6 - Requires debt collectors to give civil “Miranda Warnings” -- maxi and mini. This section of the FDCPA suggests that a debt collector must use this warning, "This communication is from a debt collector”. The collector failed to give me this warning or any other warnings during the call.

While my intent was to pay this debt and still is, I am seeking damages of $3000 for emotional distress and violation of my rights under The Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It is absurd that with so many laws in place, these injustices can still occur on a consistent basis.Desired Settlement: While my intent was to pay this debt and still is, I am seeking damages of $3000 for emotional distress and violation of my rights under The Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Response:

Due to privacy laws, we are unable to address any specific debtors complaints to the Revdex.com. In general however, the mini-miranda is required on only the first contact and is included on our first notice to debtors (the first contact). Verification of a debt is only required if the debtor requests it in writing to us.
