We need to make sure no more dogs get hurt.
My little *** was injured twice in Yaletown Puppy Loves care. Three very broken bones in the top of her foot (that the Vets believe was from being stepped on) and a splint that was put on too tight causing open wound injury. The injuries are bad enough where I've been going to the vet every single day for four weeks now to have her bandages and splint checked and changed. As of today, It turns out little *** is going to need surgery as the bones were broken too badly to heal on their own. This is going to mean more daily vet visits and a massively expensive vet bill. Not to mention the pain my little *** is going through.
I paid YPL a lot of money ($780) to care for *** for 8 nights and in the end, she never offered to cover ANY expenses for the accidents/injuries that happened during her care or even offered any free service. This is my biggest issue and why I'm writing this. That and what I've been told about what happened while I was away doesn't make much sense. *** Simply tripping on some uneven pavement would not cause this massive injury. So the truths are being stretched pretty far and that's quite frustrating.
I tried to make a claim through her business insurance to help out with the growing vet bills but she has to put the claim through on herself. She, of course, isn't willing to do that. It wasn't until the insurance company told her I tried to go after her insurance that she made any kind of offer to me. Her offer was so low compared to my current vet bills It just feels like a slap in the face so I've declined. Heck, she didn't even check in with *** and I post injuries for over Two Weeks until her insurance company contacted her and she was forced to talk to me. Most people would check in more often after an incident like this.
Now that I know this has happened with multiple dog owners I feel it's important to let people know to look elsewhere for dog daycare.

Yaletown Puppy Love Pet Care Response • Feb 26, 2020

Dear Client,
You and *** have always been an important part of our fur family the last 6-7 years and I never want a client to feel this way. We developed a great relationship during this time. I’m genuinely heartbroken to see your dog go through this ordeal.
When I brought your dog to the vet after she lost her balance on an outing, and noticed some swelling, the vet indicated that her injury was likely due to the fact that this past summer she lost mobility in her hind legs and had been going through extensive testing for ***. She had also had a previous broken front leg injury after getting hit by a bike.
You had been in touch with me when she first collapsed in your care. We continued with ongoing communication with regards to pain management, maintenance and support.
The vet tech took an x-ray at our initial visit which indicated two small broken bones. The leg was wrapped with a splinter and from that point on, I closely monitored her and limited her activity. She was unstable on the best of days. It had been requested I lay carpet on the hard floors, as she has at home, in order for her to walk and support her legs from collapsing.
Unfortunately, the wrap fell off the following day. You were notified right away. I examined her leg - it was normal and looking well. I re-wrapped it with the same vet supplies to ensure the paw was supported. I asked if you wanted me to bring her back to the vet to have it professionally wrapped again, as I expressed the tension of the wrap is important. You indicated that it wasn’t necessary, you would be back the following day.
Several photos and videos were provided daily. She was happy, in good spirits, and the leg was looking well when you returned home the following day.
It’s my understanding that the vet informed you that she was suffering from new injuries (a third broken bone) when you took her for a follow-up visit five days after you arrived home. After our discussion at her drop-off- I was under the understanding she would be brought back to the vet the next morning to have the leg examined and professionally wrapped again, being it had fallen off.
I have repeatedly offered to fully compensate you for the vet visit that occurred while she was in my care and you have not accepted this offer. The decision you made to delay her follow-up care which lead to the subsequent injuries, was not one I made myself.
I was first made aware there was any concern on your end, several weeks after your return date, when our insurance company contacted me. I messaged you that day asking if we could discuss by phone, and I did not get a response. At this point I asked our insurance company to contact you on my behalf letting you know claims are submitted through the company and I would be happy to discuss matters further with you.
I am truly sorry that your pup is injured and understand the stress, frustration and pain this has caused you. All my love, care and attention went into ensuring *** was cared for to the best of my ability, given the circumstances and the direction I was given by her owner.
I am happy to discuss any and all of your concerns at any point in time, and to work out a solution.
Sincerely
