Yankee Supply Co. Inc. Reviews (2)

I just received your letter dated January 14, 2018.  I notice it is marked as ‘second notice’, but this is the first correspondence we receive from you regarding this matter.  My apologies if a previous correspondence has gone unanswered.

I am familiar with the situation involving...

Ms. [redacted] and the phone call made by her father.  I’d like to first comment on the language that has been used in this complaint – namely “defrauded” and “stolen”.  This is not language that we take lightly, nor are the accusations associated with their use.  Secondly, I’d like to draw attention to the disrespectful and demanding nature of the call made by Ms. [redacted]’ father, framed in part by the threat of escalating his displeasure to your organization, as well as to the media.  It is important to note that this was not the first instance in which the father demonstrated disdain towards us, when he became irritated that our product advisor, [redacted], refused to meet with them on Sunday, November 12, 2017 to initially show them the vehicle.  These items are of particular concern to us, and I’d like to mention that we have zero tolerance for any form of abuse – verbal, physical, or otherwise – towards our employees.

On Saturday, November 18, 2017 Ms. [redacted] and her father traveled to Yarmouth to view the [redacted] in question.  They were provided with a copy of the attached worksheet (worksheet.pdf).  This worksheet clearly itemizes a $399 admin fee, and is dated “2017-11-18” (bottom right hand corner).  On November 21, 2017 we made arrangements to have the [redacted] brought to her residence in Porter’s Lake the following day, after confirming physical address and insurance coverage.  As you can see by the attached screen shot (text follow up 1 of 2.jpg), we were not aware that there were any issues with the transaction.  On November 22, 2017 we delivered the [redacted], including the winter tires that Ms. [redacted] had requested.  For reference, I’ve included a copy of the internal tire invoice (tire invoice.pdf) to demonstrate that we delivered on our promise.  The delivery, which took place more than 300 km from the dealership, was also provided free of charge.  At that time, the attached bill of sale (bill of sale.pdf) was presented to Ms. [redacted], who reviewed and willingly signed it.  It clearly itemizes an Admin Fee of $399 just below the subtotal in the right hand column.  Furthermore, we followed up with Ms. [redacted] on November 23, 2017 (text follow up 2 of 2.jpg) and there was absolutely no indication of any displeasure with the transaction.

Having provided ample evidence that this fee was clearly disclosed from the beginning, we consider this matter closed.  Any further communication regarding this matter from the client, her father, or any other party affiliated with the client, especially involving (but not limited to) derogatory language and/or threats and/or yelling will be considered harassment, and will be met with appropriate recourse.

Initial Business Response /* ([redacted], 5, 2017/08/01) */
Good afternoon, [redacted].

As per our telephone conversation this morning, I'm emailing in response to a complaint filed on July 25, 2017 by Gerald Winfred Gehue. The case number is [redacted]. To the best of my ability, I will describe the...

events from our perspective; however, before I begin, I feel it is important to point out that we have never entered into a purchase and sale agreement with [redacted]. On paper, the transaction in question solely involves [redacted]'s daughter, [redacted], who has yet to file any form of complaint about the transaction.

As we do from time to time, we held an off-site sale in the parking lot of the local [redacted], which ran from July 3rd to the 8th. It was during this sale that [redacted] approached the sales team we had contracted for this event. Through the course of negotiations, it was agreed that [redacted] would purchase a [redacted] on July 8th for the price of $[redacted] bi-weekly, for a period of 60 months. This transaction would provide [redacted] with cash back in the amount of $[redacted], which was intended to repay a loan from [redacted]. Given the state of his financial situation, [redacted] required the assistance of his daughter, [redacted], in order to secure financing. The financing and subsequent paperwork would proceed solely in [redacted]'s name, as he did not qualify.

Shortly after taking possession of the [redacted] advised [redacted] - a member of the sales team - that his wife did not like the [redacted]. We accommodated [redacted]'s request to exchange the [redacted] for a [redacted]. This took place on July 10th, at the price of $[redacted] bi-weekly, for a period of 60 months, including cash back of $[redacted]. This transaction is the one being disputed by [redacted].

In his complaint, [redacted] makes reference to being "over charged" for this vehicle. We take exception to this claim, as it is evident he makes no consideration to the cash back he received. We would also like to mention that [redacted] has visited our store on at least three occasions last week and again yesterday, requesting additional cash back, with the threat of legal action. Finally, we would also like to point out that the team we'd contracted has been trying to reach [redacted], but their calls have been unanswered or hung up on.

We would like nothing more than a speedy resolution to this matter. We have been an automotive dealer since 1970, and pride ourselves on the integrity with which we conduct our business. We have already proven to be very accommodating to [redacted], and do not appreciate the manner with which he is trying to coerce additional cash from us after the sale.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
