Yeater & Associates Reviews (1)

I purchased a firm last November and the ***'s were a client that was acquiredWhen I met with them on that Saturday their prior return did indicate that they "should" make estimated tax payments however it is by no means a "requirement" of the IRSThe Saturday that I met with them I also had
other appointments after them, so the point they state I was in a rush is incorrect, however quite the contraryWe sat there and even discussed their son and daughter in law that I went to high school with, and discussed how they've beenWhen they gave me all of their documents there was not any support for their tax payments, i.ecancelled checks or check copies that were remittedYes they did check a small box on the tax organizer indicating that estimates were made, but I must have over looked it when preparing their returnI always ask questions of my clients to make sure I understand what they have going on, especially the ***'s because he has his own business that is reported on their personal returnTheir return was filed electronically, however before it is filed all clients are provided with a paper copy of their return to go over and they are required to sign form which is an E-file authorization form from the IRS that indicates they give permission for me to file their returnAnother form that is signed is a form acknowledging that they in fact are the individual receiving the refund and that they have reviewed the return to insure all information is accurateBoth of these forms were signed and returned before their return was filedThey received a letter from the IRS in March and we responded to the letterThe letter was requesting "proof of identify" which is a regular thing requested by the IRS because of all of the identity fraud many individuals who are receiving refunds are asked to re-submit all documents that support income amounts reported on their tax return as well as estimated tax payments madeYeater & Associates wrote a letter to the IRS and included all documents provided to us, however did not include any support for tax estimates since they were not provided to us(At this time we were still not aware that any return was incorrect due to not reporting tax estimates made) Because payments were not reported or support remitted their return was flagged as "fraudulent"The ***'s then notified me of the next letter they received stating this, which they gave to me and I called the IRS to inquire whyPer discussion with the IRS was when I discovered that estimated tax payments were mistakenly not reported on their returnI asked what I could do to help resolve and the IRS informed me that the taxpayer would need to call to confirm various information that only they would know the answer toI then passed this information along to the ***'s, and told them to let me know if there was anything else I could do to help I would, or if they needed any other informationI called the IRS a total of times for the ***'s in regards to various letters they received this summer for their returnI have various email correspondence between the ***'s giving my apologies, that we did in fact make an error and were willing to refund them $but they informed me that amount was not acceptable and if I did not refund them what they wanted they would report me to the Revdex.comI do have all of these emails that I can send if you would like, or any other forms/documents that they signed indicating they reviewed the return.Unfortunately the IRS is not very easy to get a hold of on the phone nor are they quick to give refunds of individuals money either, but both of those things are out of my controlThe ***'s have since received their refund, however it was not in the timely fashion that they wished it would have come, but that is out of my control also. Please let me know if there's any other information I can provide to help get this resolved
