Yellow Cab of Bloomfield

Sorry to see such a low rating for Yellow Cab.
Today I am a first time taxicab user. The dispatcher was polite professional and informed me how using Yellow Cab works. $3.00 to get into the cab and then $2.70 a mile plus cost of having cab wait. This is standard practice and follows CT law.
I called back and asked for a non-smoking cab for twenty minutes from the call. Leon P[redacted] (Cab *) was in my driveway 20 minutes on the dot. He came to my door took my bag and jacket and even wanted to help me with two bags of trash I took care of the trash. He was polite, friendly, outgoing and a safe driver. He took me from the southern part of Enfield CT to my Bank of [redacted], followed by driving me to Suffield, and then back to Enfield to the [redacted] near the Massachusetts line. Cost $35.00 which is right on target as I checked mileage and added up cost prior to calling Yellow Cab. He had not problem writing me a receipt. He even gave me his # to call when I was done swimming at the [redacted] to drive me home.
His timing was great. I swam and exercised in the pool, showered and as I walked into the lobby of the hotel he was pulling up. No call needed. He drove me home which cost $20.00. He even waited in my driveway until he knew I was able to get into my car and waved good bye.
I was so impressed I tipped him a total for $16.00 for his outstanding service. I would have tipped him more but that is all I had.
When I came into my house I called Yellow Cab to praise Leon and the Dispatcher who took my call.
I just have one non-positive. Leon noticed by call was in the system for a little while and came from Bloomfield, CT. It is my understanding is that a lot of the other drivers do not like and will not come to Enfield. Even the ones at [redacted] international Airport. I do not know how the taxi drivers are employed so Yellow Cab may have no control regarding this issue. That is fine with me.

Review: I called for a taxi ride Sun.,March 10. Pickup was at 20 Ct.Blvd, East Hartford, at 9:45 PM. Destination was 56 Coventry St.,Hartford at 10 PM. This was by cab #63. The driver mentioned that the ride might come to $20. I had taken this ride dozens of times before, weekly, and averaged $12 to $14 each time. I asked why the meter was not running, but got no answer. His route was typical, but at the end, asked for &20. Without knowing any details, Igave him all $20, and of course,no tip. His cell # is XXX XXX-XXXX. He called me as he arrived to pick up. I am a senior citizen,one of MANY MILLIONS in this country that need Taxi rides often. I feel this driver Deliberatly ignored his normal function in order to take advantage of my ignorance and age. His meter will not showthis particular ride because it WAS OFF! I hope he no longer steals from you,or the many seniors who will call for rided. ThankYou! -[redacted]
