I received an unsolicited phone call from a 'S [redacted] G***' who claimed to be from Equifax This person went on to claim that I must have not received their offer for interest rate reduction through the mail and then confirmed my mailing addressThis person convinced me that since I had been paying my credit cards on time that I was due a reduction in interest rates After a tussle (I was objected to giving such infoover the phone) and talking to her 'manager', I finally gave them my credit card numbers for four credit cards I was then passed onto someone else who confirmed again my mailing address and email I was then passed on to a 'T [redacted] O'***' who said she was from the 'Credit Bureau' and threw a lot of mumbo jumbo at me about how they could save me 5,000-8,dollars in credit card interest I asked them how much they wanted for this service but was told the $1,charge would be paid by Discover Card, one of my credit cards (This card has a low balance currently with a 0% interest rate on the balance.) I questioned how this could work Again, given a lot of double talk Then I was passed onto YF Solutions; a K [redacted] W [redacted] She gave me a phone number, different from the number given to me by S [redacted] G*** She said she had to make some calls to negotiate for an interest rate reduction and that she would call back in minutes I waited half an hour and then called the number I got a phone message from someone who sounded just like T [redacted] O'*** Then I called the number S [redacted] G [redacted] had given me and got Visa Card Then I got a call back from K [redacted] W [redacted] who apologized for calling me back later than she had promised She then went on to tell me that she had 'good news'; that for dollars, I could bring my Discover and US Bank card interest rates down to zeroI immediately questioned how that was going to be paid, that I didn't want an invoice She chided me saying that they were saving me thousands of dollars Then she went on to say that two other banks would 'pay off the debt' and that would bring my rate 'down to zero' I then told her I was not interested in this program and hung up Nothing is for free and I was waiting to find out what the actual charges were What a ridiculously convoluted way to do business! A more straight forward approach would be much more business like Maybe they are legitimate but who would agree to their services after such a lengthy run around! I immediately had to go through the hassle of blocking my credit cards and requesting new cards I hope I don't have to endure clearing up identity theft too
