Hello ***,I am *** ***, the Associate Executive Director with the Platte County Community Center South YMCA I have been reviewing the complaint submitted by *** *** First, let me explain how the Department of Defense Military memberships work The Armed
Services YMCA gives us guidelines to follow when trying to determine eligibility for the program With every case being so very different, we do our best to determine eligibility, which we did with *** Once we get the membership set up in the system, the documentation then gets forwarded to the Armed Services YMCA for final eligibility determinationWhich is what was done with the *** family's membership The Armed Services YMCA has the final say on whether the membership is eligible to be subsidized by the Department of Defense If it is not, we call the individual to let them know they are not eligible and encourage them to join the YMCA through one of our current YMCA membership options Once the *** family's paper work was submitted to the Armed Services YMCA, we received a response back from The Armed Services YMCA National Headquarters stating the *** family would be eligible if *** was deploying overseas from the *** was deployed to the *** in Washington, DC and not overseas Subsequently, the *** family would not be eligible for the Armed Services YMCA subsidized membership The *** family was contacted and informed about not being eligible to receive the subsidized membership paid for by the Department of Defense The *** family has since reestablished their Family membership with the YMCA.In regards to having a copy of his military orders, the YMCA is not allowed to keep copies of these documents due to the law *** referenced It is my understanding that *** or his wife dropped a copy of his orders off to us and asked for them to be given to the associate helping them through the membership process When that associate came in the next day and found the orders in her mailbox she completed the necessary paperwork and then shredded them Which is the procedure provided to us by the Armed Services YMCA It is my understanding the *** and his wife were informed of this from the associate.We are following the instructions that were given to us from the Department of Defense and the Armed Services YMCA It was also my understanding that *** was directed to the contact the Armed Services YMCA regarding this matter.Please let me know how I can be of further assistance in this matter.Thanks,*** *** ***Associate Executive Director

In the YMCA marketing materials regarding this program that was provided in the initial Revdex.com correspondence, YMCA Questions and Answers (attached) for this program states:Q If there is a
military base in the community and personnel are deployed from that base to
another state in the country, are their families eligible?
A
Yes. Since the deployment can be
within the United States or overseas, these families are eligible
Employees at the YMCA confirmed this policy and stated that this benefit had been to others in our situation and were uncertain why we were being discriminated against I also provided documentation with the endorsement of an Air Force Headquarters General Officer (one star) to support the validity of this claim Of all organizations to discriminate against and engage in bait and switch deceitful marketing tactics targeting the military, I am flabbergasted that a CHRISTIAN organization exhibits this unethical business practice The YMCA's continued deceit and contradictions are evident from the response to my complaint as it directly contradicts the YMCA's published Q&A regarding the program Disappointing Regards,
