Yoga Buddhi Reviews (%countItem)

Roughly two months ago, I contacted Down Dog App regarding some changes in their subscription options -- they had recently eliminated a free version of their app without notice. At that time, a company representative said that they would give me a free 2-month subscription, after which they would extend me a 60% discount on all of their subscription options, including a lifetime subscription that would cost just over $100 after the discount was applied.

After using the free 2-month subscription, I attempted to purchase a lifetime subscription (at the discounted price) and was told that the company had since discontinued that subscription option. Had I known that the 60% discount on a lifetime subscription was a time-limited offer, I would have purchased that initially rather than using the free 2-month subscription.

I explained the situation to the company and was told that they would not allow me to purchase a discounted lifetime subscription, despite the fact that they had previously told me that the option would be available to me. I also pointed out that the company's terms of service state that they do offer a lifetime subscription and that they will notify consumers 30 calendar days in advance of any changes in fees.

This complaint is from someone who never purchased anything from us. She's complaining that she is not able to purchase a product that we have discontinued. There is only one thing in the complaint which we dispute. The complainant claims that we mentioned the lifetime subscription in our offer for a 60% discount after her two-month trial. That is false, and in fact, during that correspondence, the complainant stated "I'll certainly try out the app for the 2-month period and pay for the annual subscription if it works out for me." The annual subscription she referred to was indeed offered to her at a 60% discount (and remains on offer).Again, complainant has never paid for any of our services, has been given 6 months of free usage, and has been offered the 60% discount on the annual subscription that was mentioned in our correspondences.
Below is the original email exchange in which the complainant tried several times to avoid paying for our service, in which we offered a free 2 month trail, and in which complainant revealed the intent to purchase a yearly membership:

I understand, and thank you for your response. I’ll certainly try out the app for the 2 month period and pay for the annual subscription if it works out for me. Lots of apps do this and we think it's bad because then people get extremely biased sources of information. We'd rather just make a good app and let that stand on its own.—On August 6, 2019, 3:32 PM PDT *** wrote:We regularly give away extended free trial periods to people who write in saying they can't afford a memberships, people who can't pay for various reasons (sanctions in Iran, not having access to credit cards etc), people who are full time students. So, if you can't afford the $20 for a year of membership, I'll extend your trial to a year. However, if you can afford the $20 / year membership, you really should pay for it; this is our full time job and we want to make quality yoga available to as many people as possible. Paying for the app helps us do that, especially for people who can't afford it.—Use Down Dog on your laptop or desktop or chromecast at www.downdogapp.com Follow us on InstagramJoin our Facebook CommunityOn August 6, 2019, 3:24 PM PDT *** wrote:Would there be any way for me to receive the freemium version? If you know someone with an account like that you may be able to share with them.It was a tough decision to switch away from freemium for the main app, but it's helped us expand our content library & work on new things like casting / adding multiple voices and models. It's also allowed us to work on new apps like a HIIT app, prenatal yoga app, etc, which are coming in the hopefully near future! If you're new to yoga we have a dedicated free app just for beginners! Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and while I think the business misconstrues our earlier correspondence and the situation, I am okay not pursuing the complaint further.

Sincerely
