First and...

foremost we would like to thank you for choosing Yogis Teriyaki House for your quick teriyaki fix. On behalf of Yogis Teriyaki House we would like to apologize for your recent experience at our restaurant. The particular situation was a phone in order, and while the order was made, you were denied the sale because of the policy. But we are also aware that this may have been the first time you heard about our new policy. So for customers who do not know the first time, we usually let it slide and remind the customer about the new policy. In your case, we should have let it slide, so we do apologize for the inconvenience.
Our employees were just following the Credit/Debit sales policy of an $8 minimum charge per transaction which took effect 2/1/2015. One of the employees said that they would be fired by the owner if they were to take the transaction of $5.61. This is not true. The employee was just following the store policy. The employee did not charge a service charge, because there was no exact protocol to execute the particular transaction. The handwritten sign is now removed and replaced with a printed and laminated sign because we would like to stick to this policy. Merchants are charging a pretty penny for Credit/Debit transactions and many small businesses, including Yogis Teriyaki House, are having a hard time. Other small businesses have an even higher minimum of Credit/Debit transactions, so we feel that an $8 minimum is a reasonable amount.
Here are some alternatives/resolutions:- There is an ATM machine conveniently located outside for any of our customers to use. Maybe you did not know about this because our employees failed to inform you.- We will be looking into a way to implement a service charge for customers, such as this particular situation, in the future. We will just have to work out the kinks.
On behalf of Yogis Teriyaki House we would like to thank you for your concern and we will do everything in our power to become a better business and develop a better business to customer relationship.Thank your for your time.

Review: When I went in to get food for my daughter cost came out to $5 and some change. When given my debit card I was told there was a Minimum of $8. I told them to go ahead and charge me a service charge. They told me they could not charge a service fee nor charge me if the amount was less than $8 as written by the handwritten sign in front of the cash register or they would be fired by the owner. I was forced to take my daughter to another place simply because I did not carry cash or have a need to buy more.Desired Settlement: I don't understand how you can provide a service and make no other option but to pay $8 or more via credit card or pay in cash! Also to put your employees in the position of having no other option then to refuse service or face being fired is beyond me! There should be a better resolve then the one at hand.
