To Whom It May Concern:We met with Ms*** *** regarding her concerns about her bathroomDuring that meeting, I looked at Ms***'s full bathroom and clearly explained to her that the leakage would not be properly fixed without completely renovating her entire bathroomMs
*** was warned that the problem would occur againHowever, even after listening to the warnings and recommendations, Ms*** insisted that she was on a low budget and simply wanted to fix the immediate leak as quickly as possibleIt was verbally explained on the required job and agreed upon to fix the problem to her expectationThe work was then completed on November 28, 2011.There was a 5/8” gap between the tub and the tile wall area that was causing the wall leakage2xblack caps/bullnoses were purchased and DAP-Paintable Silicone Sealant was used to correct the wall leakSince there were no other option to conceal such a large gap, this specific caulking was the only available option with her limited budge with the highest probability in limiting any future leaksIn addition, there was another gap between the floor and the tub, which required a mixture of latex and group to sealIt appears there aren't any current problems in this area based on Ms***'s complaint.Lastly, Ms*** had a plumber to fix and replace the shower faucet handle prior to our arrivalWhile completing such task, the plumber's work caused some damages to the tiles around the faucetThis required 3xwall tiles to fix as wellAll of the above listed works required a full day's laborAs such, Ms*** was charged for $for labor and $for materials used, which resulted in final bill of $720.In the general business practice in custom bathroom renovation and repairs, the work is guaranteed for one yearHowever, we provide two years of workmanship warrantiesMs*** contacted us on April 11, for the first time regarding her concerns, which is almost years and months after the completion of the workThis is well beyond the scope of any workmanship warrantiesNot only did Ms*** contact us after so much time has passed since the initial work was complete, she also stated that she added caulking to the tiles herself instead of contacting us then with her concernsSuch methods of adding regular caulking will not seal the leak properly, thus compounding any problems she hadBased on her actions, it appears she understood that the problem was not beyond the scope of our workmanship warranties thenIn addition, our company cannot be responsible for problems that may have been caused by her own workWe regret that Ms*** is dissatisfied with the current situation; however, lifetime warranty is simply not possible in this fieldWe believe Ms*** was fully advised of her problem at the initial meeting, which included an explanation of the limitations of her requested work and better, more permanent recommendationIt is also our business practice to offer an extended workmanship warranty of two years and Ms*** initially contacted us well beyond that time frameInstead, Ms*** completed additional work after our companyAs such, unfortunately we are unable to provide a refund or repairs nowEnclosed are our communication with Ms*** prior to Revdex.com complaint along with a copy of the check Ms*** provided after the work was completedSincerely,

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
The tiles that were added around the perimeter of the tub should have been grouted to the existing tiles rather that bonded with silicone as MrYong states he did in his responseI was not aware that MrYong used silicone to bond the new tilesI have no knowledge of silicone used as an adhesiveIt is primarily a filler/sealer that has good bonding properties to other surfacesAfter MrYong's repair, a water leak occurred through my kitchen ceilingI called a contractor to help me identify the source of the leakThe owner of *** *** *** tracked the problem to the MrYong's work and showed me how water was getting in behind the tiles that MrYong addedHe then repaired the problem by adding caulk along the tile perimeterAs a courtesy to me, he didn't charge me for this repairHe said that the tiles were adhered to the prior tires without any caulk around the top edge which was shocking to himIt was assumed at this time by both the owner of *** *** *** and me that the tiles MrYong added were grouted to the original tilesNo reasonable tile setter would use silicon to bond tiles on top of other tiles nor expect this type of repair to last any reasonable timeIt is not even clear to me by MrYong's response how he used the siliconeDid he just fill in the 5/8'' gap between the tub and the wall tiles with Dap and lay the black cap/bull noses on top of the silicone? Please keep in mind that the additional tiles that MrYong added should have been bonded both vertically (primarily) and horizontally to the existing tilesGrout would have been required to do this reasonably and caulking should have been applied to the top of the tile edgeIt is only now that I am fully realizing how poorly MrYong's repair job wasI think anyone would expect such a small repair costing as much as this did to provide a reasonable approach with a more durable resultMrYoung is a professional tile setter and as such should have provided a professional repair jobI am a polymer chemistI am shocked by MrYong's stated approachHe most certainly didn't explain his approach to meI would never have accepted itFinally, the work that was done didn't take a full day of laborIt took only a few hoursI would like to note that I did not ask MrYong to repair the ceiling damage in my kitchen that resulted from his workI simply asked that he address the unreasonable lack of adhesion of the tiles that he addedIn other words, I wanted to hold him accountable for the $tile repair job he did for me
Regards,
