On the date of the complaint, the customer who filed this complaint arrived at our property around 11:45am and left our property to visit a business that does not have parking rights in our lot. It is clearly posted. Our security officer ticketed the car at 11:55am, and the car was towed at 12:30pm. Many people illegally park in this parking lot and the property owner is diligent about towing illegally parked vehicles. When someone parks in our lot and leaves the property, they are ticketed and subsequently towed. I understand that the person filing this complaint can produce a receipt showing that they came back to our property and visited one of our businesses after the security guard witnessed them leave our property. I do not have details about what time they returned to the property nor did our security guard witness their return. Based on the information I have received, the car was not improperly towed. However, if the person filing this complaint will share with me the information about when they returned to the site and which store they visited, I would be inclined to refund them for the towing fee. The fee is being refunded by York Security, even though we did not collect any fees nor did we do anything wrong. We are only willing to do this if the person filing the complaint can produce evidence that they indeed did visit a store at our property, AND they recognize that parking on our property and then leaving the property to visit a business across the street created this issue. I would also like to point out that the complaint is being made against York Security. We have been hired to monitor the parking lot for illegal parking and we do not own this property. There was nothing improper about ticketing and towing this vehicle based on the posted signs on the property and the fact that the first thing the person filing this complaint did was illegally park and leave the property.I would also like to point out that the person filing this complaint was verbally abusive to our officer and was not seeking to address the issue in a productive manner. Towing someone's car is the last thing we want to do as it is a major inconvenience and cost to the person being towed and it creates a lot of extra work for us. If people would obey the posted signs, this would not happen. Again, please respond with the requested information and acknowledgement that you initially left the property and we will refund your towing fee as a show of good faith. Consumer Response Thank you for your timely response. I appreciate your offer to refund my $220 in towing fees. As I attempted to explain on the phone with Capt. [redacted] I initially left the property but promptly returned to shop at [redacted] I have e-mailed you a copy of my Towing Report and my [redacted] purchase receipt as verification. Please mail me a check for $220 to the following address:[redacted]Durham, NC XXXXXOnce the funds have cleared, I will consider this matter fully resolved to my satisfaction.
