Review: One [redacted] Inspiron Laptop with power cord one ** Pavilion + sounds with power cord carrying case and 2 "Windows 8 Pro". Disks with their operating key number

$100.00 cash - have receipt for payment in full. August 17, 2015.

I waited approx. a week to call them and was told they where not ready. They also said they could only fix one - the oldest ([redacted]), and wanted to dismantle the other. I said no to the dismantling and that I wanted the windows 8 program (as it had), they were going to put windows 7 on it.

Prior to calling Yreka computer I had discussed the problem with [redacted] and ** - they agreed they were hacked and said I should get a local company to clean them up (meaning both could be put back in running condition). I also paid the [redacted] a $100 plus an additional $35.00; they wanted a lot more money to fix them (their scale of charges) and I decided to check out after companies.

After around 3 weeks Hope (Yreka computer) did answer the phone and told me that they had electrical problems and that they only fixed the [redacted]. I asked if Windows 8 was on it and she said yes.) Then I was told it would be they would bring back all my equipment the next day, a Wed., they did not nor did they call me. I was unable to get thru to them.

A week or so later I called the Yreka Police Dept. and officer Duncan came to my apt., I explained what was going on and he replied "put a note on your door saying you have Security Cameras and he would put undercover police in the apt. complex,. I was insulted and left without a reply to something so asinine.Desired Settlement: He was here on Thursday on Friday. I called the following week on Monday and was told that I could not get any information wihout going in and filling out forms. I don't drive , I am 70 years old and disabled - also during this before calling the police my new cell phone stopped working and I had to wait till payday to get another. She would not give me any information. I requested officer Duncan return my call. He did not.

A week later I called and requested Office Duncan to contact me - that was almost 2 weeks ago. I have not heard from him.

It seems that their is no one or any senior agency could help me.

Thank you for your assistance, please call me if you have any questions, and please keep me up to date.I have the serial #/s etc. for both PC's. I have been in contact wiht both Dell and HP regarding the hacking. Who ever did it changed everything. Not being computer literate I don't understand it all. All I know from gathering info from the companies (who I gave all their info too) is that who ever did it is was quite knowledgeable and probably changed the stored info. to something I didn't quite understand. I was also told there was "dog porno", etc. I never saw anything because I could get on line.

The customer wanted both laptops to be fixed. I went to her apartment and picked them up due to her inability to deliver them to my shop. She paid the $100 service call fee that is required for us to make a house call. After diagnosing both laptops, she was contacted about the situation. Neither laptop was savable the way that they were. I offered to use the few remaining good parts from each to refurbish a comparable laptop that I had on hand. She agreed so I started working towards that goal. She called several times during this process with threats because the work wasn't done. During the process of refurbishing a laptop for her, my shop was badly damaged due to a lightning storm. After closing for a week, all customers were contacted and offered huge discounts due to the inconvenience. She was the only upset customer. After offering a discount on the work she wanted done, she said she was calling the police and a lawyer. So I wrote the attached letter and mailed it to her with her outstanding invoice. Her laptops were packed up and work was stopped on her laptops. As of right now, I had 13 hours invested in her laptops and 3 pieces of hardware ordered for her new refurbished replacement. At $85.00/hr and the 3 pieces of hardware ordered out of my pocket, that can't be used on another job, her total owed is $1144.00. I offered a %50 discount due to the time it was taking. She didn't respond yes or no. Her invoice is scheduled to go to collections December 1st, 2015.
