dated April 4, 2017, I personally sent an e-mail to the customer on April 7,2017, indicating that I was saddened to receive his letter, that patient satisfaction is very important to me and that I had reviewed the situation and was aware of what had transpired and asked him to give his daughter my best wishesThe customer responded that same day indicating he had to receive an “apology” and implied that if an apology was not received that he would “use other means.” Upon receipt of the customer’s perceived threat to “use other means” to address the situation, I responded that he should contact my attorney directly and provided him widi my attorney’s contact information, 'Upon learning about the incident after receiving the customer’s April 4, 2017, letter, I inquired about the facts with my office personnelBased on the facts that I reviewed, there was no need for “an apology” for the facts that occurredFurther, it became apparent that the parent was “reading into” what was said about teeth whitening services that the dental office performs, a lot of subtext that was not saidThe dental hygienist who was the subject of the complaint has been a dental hygienist for years and has never had a complaint lodged against her by a patient.I personally performed an oral examination at the end of the patient’s appointment ” and asked her whether she had any questions or concerns and she said “no.” The patient also thanked the hygienist for her service before leaving the officeIf the patient had shown an interest in teeth whitening, we require parental approvalPros and cons are discussed and any questions that either of the parents or the patient‘have about the procedure are answered.The complaint as filed, not by the patient, but by the father who was not in the office, was inaccurate and threateningEnclosed, is another complaint from the father posted to the internet an another matter.Sincerely,Yu H*** N*, DDS
