Yusol International Foods Reviews (1)

Review: I found a product called Authentic Pounded Yam (fufu)here in Japan that was sold by a local international food store. I am a US citizen I live overseas. I have Celiac Disease so I was excited to see a product that might not contain wheat that I could eat. I tried emailing the company but all emails where returned so I tried calling this morning. I was met with complete anger by the representative on the phone. He/She said that I had no right calling the company and as*ing if the product was gluten free. She said I was rude to as* if the facility also processed any wheat/barley or rye. The representative just *ept yelling at me that I can not call from overseas and as* questions. I said I was from America and just wanted to *now if the product was O* for me to eat. She just *ept yelling and calling me rude. I really wanted to eat all of their products as they all appeared to be gluten free but I have to be very careful. I have never been treated with such hatred. I really tried to be even more polite because I thin* they were nervous that I called from Japan but the person was just yelling and out of control. It was really a one sided conversation as the representative was angry and accusing me of being out of my mind calling them and as*ing questions. I have called plenty of companies to find out if the production li*e is free of gluten as well as the facility but this was a very strange conversation.Desired Settlement: Who are these people? What are they selling? Is it legal? Are they allowed to export it to Japan? What is in the product and why are they so angry about helping me find out if I can eat it?I want to eat it, I would love to have some other food options. I was so excited to find these products but now I just feel sad. The representatives behavior was so bizarre and out of control on the phone it ma*es me wonder what they are hiding.

Business

Response:

Than*s for notifying me of this incident. I have completed my investigation on this issue by extracting facts from the employee and all those witnesses that were privy to the incident and the following were discovered:

Mrs. ** is the employee that received the call and she is part owner of the establishment. According to Mrs. **, Ms. [redacted] called the company and indicated that she is an American citizen who lives in Japan and she is currently visiting the United States. She indicated her interest in becoming a distributor of our authentic pounded yam flour in Japan and Mrs. ** quic*ly retorted that we already have an existing distribution system in Japan and no new offer for additional distributor is being entertained.

Ms. [redacted] continued by as*ing her if the product contains wheat or wheat products which Mrs. ** replied that there was none. Mrs. * referred her to the ingredients listing on the sachet that authenticate her assertions, however, Ms. [redacted] became upset by calling Mrs. *'s action and/or comment as rude. Ms. [redacted] informed her that she has celia disease which prevented her from eating wheat product. Mrs. * was concerned about her plight and gave her every assurance that no wheat or wheat related ingredients are part of the process and also implored her not to eat the product if she is allergic to yam period.

Mrs. ** is extremely miffed by this complaint as she tried to convince the customer that our product contains no wheat, barley or rye.

From the above factual dispensation, I strongly believe there is a miscommunication between the two ladies which is highly unfortunate.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: What can I say this is a lovely written response. However, it is a complete fabrication. I never indicated I wanted to be a distributer, nor did I say I am visiting the United States and my inquiry was not handled with any respect toward a potential consumer. My original phone inquiry was met with complete unrestrained anger. I was not given an answer to the question about whether or not the product contains gluten nor weather it was produced in a factory that contains gluten and therefore a possible cross contamination. I was repeatedly called crazy and told that I was rude and that I had no right calling them and as*ing questions. It was a very unbelievable conversation. So unbelievable in fact that I am requesting further investigation into this company.

If that was the type of response that a part owner would give to someone sincerely calling about a product that they would have loved to have eaten after verifying its ingredients then I thin* they truly have something to hide. The response they have given to the Revdex.com is not a factual account of the conversation and I would request that further action be ta*en to monitor the products and actions of Yusol International Foods.

I am saddened to say that they missed the point of what it means to provide service to customers. I have contacted countless companies in the past regarding ingredients this is not a "rude or crazy" thing to do and well within my rights as a consumer. I am concerned because this product stated on the label that it is produced in the United States of America, therefore indicating a level of quality that is associated with products exported from the USA. When I saw the product in the local international mar*et I read the label and felt li*e it was a product I could trust but I needed a simple question answered. However, the hysterical response and name calling that I received from Yusol International Foods indicates a lac* of professionalism and product assurance. The false statements in their response concerning my inquiry that they have given to the Revdex.com are also an indication of a lac* of quality from a company providing a food source internationally.
