Yvening Event Planning & Catering Reviews (2)

Review: Yvening Event Planning & Catering, LLC catered my wedding on March 28, 2014. We were severely disappointed with all interactions with this company after having signed a contract with them. 1. We had extra rentals that we paid this company for that were not at the event. Specifically, two high top tables (billed $16.30/each) and their linens (billed $20.25/each) where missing. We had paid a total of $73.10 in items that were not at the event.2. We were contracted for party favors and had chosen personalized mint tins. This also were absent from the event. These were priced within the contract. The [redacted] advertises these tins as 24.95 per pack of 24 tins. We were contracted for 100 guests each receiving a tin. At 1.40/tin, this was $140 in missing items.3. Through out working with this company, when we meet in person we would be promised two pieces of glassware included in the catering contract. However, the days leading to the event and through email the company would go back on their word. This resulted in $183.00 extra cost to us.4. We being billed for extra non-contracted rentals, the business refused to give me an accurate invoice. The first invoice as for approx. $350 and then I notified the owner of missing items it was $646.05. Additionally, in the final invoice the owner charged us for linens on service tables for beverages which we believed was contracted. The owner would not discuss this issue and threatened that the rentals would not be delivered on time if we didn't pay. This resulted in an extra $40.50.5. This owner had incredibly poor costumer service. In a telephone conversation for 30 minutes, the owner constantly raised her voice and put me down multiple times including insults to my chosen profession and manhood. The owner also said that because my wedding was only a $5000 contract that it meant nothing to her.6. Food provided at the event was inferior quality to what was provided at the original tasting.7. Threw away personal property without asking at end of nightDesired Settlement: We would like to be reimbursed for the items that were not provided that were in the contract and billed for extra. This would result in $73.10 for the tables/linens and $140 for the personalized tins. Total of $213.10We would like a written apology for the company having thrown away our personal property and the disrespect the owner displayed in the last conversation we had over the phone.

Response:

May 07, 2014Dear [redacted],Please carefully review the attached signed catering agreement, rental invoice, - original proposal, and email correspondence regarding the complaint ID [redacted]. Yvening is very sorry to hear about the clients unhappiness. It is our ultimate goal to ensure the client has a successful event and to exceed their expectations. The two tables and two linens were at the reception hall, [redacted] and the wedding helpers informed us that they would set the tables up after the ceremony. Yvening escorted them to the area where the tables and linens were stored. We asked about the tables and linens again after the ceremony and were told not to worry about them, everything was fine. We sincerely apologize; unfortunately, the mint tins arrived late, however, we supplied the guests with the mints, Yvening contacted the couple twice to deliver the mint tins to no avail. We will happily ship the mint tins to their address. The client met with Yvening twice to taste the food. The initial tasting was on January 27, 2013 (before the contract was signed) and the final tasting was on March 16, 2014 (after the contract was signed). The grooms mother hugged and thanked myself and the chef at the reception. Yvening received several compliments regarding the food at the reception from [redacted], [redacted], and many other guests. The rental invoice confirms the amount of rentals and equipment supplied including the glasses. After careful review of the invoice and catering agreement; Yvening does not owe the client a refund. On two phone conversations with the client; the bride terminated the call. The client constantly asked Yvening to pay for items that we were not under contract to pay. We did our very best to explain and clarify these matters. On several occasions, the client was rude and yelled profanity. Our vendors complained about the brides behavior. Until receiving this complaint, Yvening was unaware of any personal property thrown away. May we ask what personal property? Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thankyou very much for your cooperation and time. We greatly appreciate it. Have a marvelous

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]

Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because the business

owner supported my claims of missing items but doesn't provide financial

reimbursement.1. Regarding 2 missing tables: The owner

expresses that there was an agent on our behalf that change our mind to have

these tables. The owner provided no proof to this occurrence and it is not

supported on our end. We never requested nor had instructed anyone to not set

up these tables. In fact, I had sent an agent to discuss with the owner during

the event to have the tables set up immediately once I realized they were

missing. The owner did supply evidence of ordering the items. Therefore, the

only conclusion is that the business owner failed to place the tables out

during the event and is still trying to charge us. We paid to have them rented

and displayed, not rented and placed in a closet. This clearly demonstrated the

business owner did not uphold her agreement to the layout that was signed by

all parties. See the attached layout that was provided to us by the business

owner and picture proof of the missing tables.

2. Regarding the missing mint tins: The business

owner supplied proof in the contracted agreement that her company was obligated

to provide "4. Customized unique favors for all guests" on Page 2

under Exhibit A: Wedding Reception Design. Furthermore, in the business owner's

statement, provided proof that these contractual items were missing for the

event and they had supplied "mints". However, "mints" were

not customized or unique. Therefore, this contractual obligation was not

fulfilled at the time of the event.

3. Regarding personal items thrown away: An

incomplete list includes the cake stand (which was retrieved from the trash can

by a guest) and bar decorations that consisted of vases with corks and stands

for chalkboards. Regardless of the items, it was poor form to have discarded

these items that were personal property of another.

In conclusion, we feel that the business owner

shall reimburse us for the 2 tables with linens that were rented and never set

up and the purchase price of the mint tins that was covered by the fees in the

initial agreement.

Review: Yvening Catering catered our wedding on Saturday September 13th 2014. My fiance and I were extremely dissatisfied with the level of service provided. Yvening Events promised contractually, verbally (with witnesses) and via email to deliver certain elements, products, foods and services that were not delivered or delivered in such a poor manner that it was offensive to us or to guests that witnessed acts that they then reported to us later because they were concerned about. Below is a list of things that we are bringing to the attention of the Revdex.com so that this will not happen to any other couple that is getting married and may try to hire this company that put on a great show during the planning process and turned out to be a fraud when the time arrived to execute.

-Number of Servers- we were contractually promised 18 servers, 10-12 soley dedicated to serving food. There were less than 10 total.

-Cold Food- All food was cold when it was served and we stressed to Yvening the importance of food being hot

-Linens- The week of the wedding, Yvening told us that she would be removing linens from the guest tables at 9pm while guests were still at our wedding and never told us before this date

-Centerpieces- I did not see the centerpiece design until the day before the wedding after numerous requests to see and approve the centerpieces. I also had to purchase my own vases because she told us the week of our wedding that she planned to remove the vases, pour the water into a "take home" vase and transplant the centerpiece floral arrangements to this smaller vase all while guests were still sitting at the table, none of which was told to us before the week of my wedding.

-Cake cutting - guests observed butchering of the cake and the caterer opening glory greens when she promised us that she used organic vegetables

-Cake not plated or served until I asked her to do so and she did it with a horrible attitude

-Presentation of food- Was not what was shown to us during the tasting and the size of the plate changed and was not what we paid for

-Amount of food- 100% different than what we were shown during the tasting and I requested to see the food as it would be served at the wedding and she denied me and instead assured me it would be as I saw it during the tasting- We were supposed to receive chicken breast, she served chopped chicken, we were supposed to receive sweet potato cake, there were no sweet potatoes anywhere, there was supposed to short ribs on a bone, she cut op beef and served it

-No menus- Menus were not provided as contractually promised- this would have told the guests what their choices were for dinner and prevented them from leaving early

-No votive candle holders as promised

-2nd entree served so late some never received it because they left the wedding due to hunger- we had elderly guests who have to eat due to medication

-Children not served- There was a kids table and only 1/2 of the children received food until someone had to go back and ask them to bring food for children

- Vegetarians Not served

-Honey and butter was served instead of honey butter that was ordered and agreed to during our tasting

-No to go containers as promised

-No ice- Iced Tea was served warm and room temperature

-Macaroni and cheese served in cupcake paper not a corning ware dish as promised

-Cutting the flat sheet cake in front of people when it was supposed to be cut in the catering area and served to the guests

-Leaving cake on the dessert table, it was supposed to be kept in the catering area and the wedding cake was to be served first, I had to ask her on her way out to cut my wedding cake and she agreed with a horrible attitude and proceeded to butcher my cake

-Food Items we ordered not delivered- We ordered a 4 course first entree it had 3 items and the presentation was not what was agreed upon during the tasting and confirmed in an email

-Guests had to ask for food and were denied, then later one of our family members witnessed the caterers staff packing up to go plates for themselves

-Guests witnessed staff chopping cake not cutting cake as it should have been

-Told me the plates were 9.25 inches in an email, plates that dinner was served were approximately 5 inches in diameter

-Lamb lollipops were ordered meatballs were served

-Nuts in the sauce that I didn't request that made a guest have an allergic reaction to nuts

-No warm hand towels to clean hands- We were promised that guests would have towels to clean their hands, did not happen

-Water- we requested bottled water and they used the homeowners hose water

-No to go plates were provided for the cake as promised for guests to be able to take cake with them or for us to be able to take cake home

-Damaged the homeowners property

-Damaged the homeowners neighbors propertyDesired Settlement: We would like to receive at least a $12,000.00 refund from this caterer. We paid approximately $17,000.00 and we feel that in addition to the parts of the contract that were not fulfilled, the fraudulent statements and promises made and the unacceptable manner in which she executed the parts of the catering that she did do, the poor quality of the product and the detrimental impact that she had on one of the most important days of our lives that we can not get back or do again needs to be resolved. We also want other people to know so that what happen to us will not happen to another couple that saves money for over a year, places their faith and finances in one company to deliver excellence to all of our family and friends and instead they take advantage of the fact that we have no control over it and presents garbage and leaves a mess for us to clean up . She is a fraud and needs to lose her catering license.
