In response to Mr [redacted] complaint As I told him all was true with the truck break downs which disables us from getting there quick because the understanding person knows that things get backed up with the volume of regular work we have being the best in the business for this area Also, the year warranty is correct on the workmanship which if it were a workmanship issue we would still have more years to get there However, this is more of a TREX product issue hence the reason I pushed to sell Timbertech or AZEK to MrWilliams but he insisted on using TREX Thus the reason we sell and install the other top quality products to avoid the expansion and severe contraction of the board which snapped the screws. Also, Mr Williams is correct that we will get there as soon as we have a spare minute President/Owner, *** Z Fencing, Decking, & Railing IncCornell Rd Unit #25GB, WI 54313www.zbestfdr.com

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1. I simply asked that Z Decking contact me to schedule a repair, which the owner did not do. How difficult could that possible be given the simple nature of my deck problem?2. The owner stating that because he provides a 5 year workmanship warranty so therefore he has 2 more years to make the repairs on my deck is ridiculous. His interpretation of his own warranty is laughable.  If I had a 20 year roof warranty, would it be reasonable to think  that if I needed a repair that I would wait up to 20 years to have my roof repaired??3. The  owner's statement that he discouraged me from using Trex decking materials because it is inferior and tends to warp, is a lie.  In fact, it was the opposite...the only discussion we had was using Trex decking materials versus treated wood.  The owner stated that the cost would be almost the same, so I would be much further ahead using the Trex material.  In addition,  I had a trex deck at my previous home and had no such issues. I have the Trex product brochure and it claims to be completely maintenence free.  In addition, if the owner is aware of warping issues with Trex decking, then why didn't he use additional screws/fasteners to ensure that the product did not warp? IN addition, the owner took me over to a neighbor's home and showed me the deck he had recently installed that was also Trex decking material. No mention was made of any warping issues.4. The 0wner isn't even correct in his description of my issue...the warped decking did not "break the screws", but merely pulled them out of the wooden frame and from the Trex boards on the  corners.  The repair would consist of having the screws backed out and additional screws/fasteners re-installed.5. You would think that the owner of a small business whose business depends on customer satisfaction would go out of his way to make some simple  repairs instead of his continuing resistance to do so.  Z Decking has received $1,000's of dollars in new business because of my recommendations to neighbors.  If this is how this is going to continue, I will make sure that I let anyone and everyone know who is considering a deck or fence installation, not to use Z Decking.

Review: I contracted with Z Fencing to build a deck for my home in November 2012. Z Fencing built the deck to my satisfaction. The deck was built using Trex decking material, which is supposed to me "maintenance free." Z Fencing's contract includes a "5 year warranty for workmanship." This past Spring I noticed that the trim boards on both the north and south facing sides of the deck had warped and pulled the screws out of the wood frame. I consider this to be a workmanship issue since it appears that Z Fencing did not attah the boards with enough screws to prevent warping. During the first week of June, Z Fencing was installing a fence for my neighbor directly behind my house. The owner, [redacted], saw me and told me he had noticed the warped boards and "would be over to my house to make the necessary repairs after he completed my neighbor's fence installation." Three days later, the fence was completed but Mr [redacted] never came to my house to make the promised repairs. I called him the following week. He apologized, telling that "a bearing had gone out on his post hole digger" but that he would be over to repair my deck. He did not give me a specific date or time. I waited 2 more weeks, which was now going into July. I called Mr [redacted] again. This time I got his voicemail. I reminded him of his promise to repair my deck almost a month ago and asked him to contact me. I did not get a return phone call from Mr [redacted]. I waited until the following week, now into the second week of July to call again. Mr [redacted] answered the phone. I identified myself and again asked when he would be making the repairs. This time he told that both of his work trucks were out of commission. I replied by saying that I have been waiting for 6 weeks. He responded that if I didn't believe him about his truck issue that he would send me pictures of his broken trucks. (I have no idea what pictures of his trucks would have proved.) I told him I wanted a date and time from him to make the deck repairs. He told me he "would not give me a date or time" but that "he would make the repairs as soon as he had a spare minute." (I estimate the repairs would take approximately 30 minutes.) That was two weeks ago. It is now August, two full months since Mr [redacted] promised to repair my deck with no communication from him. I am now resorting to filing a complaint against Z Fencing and Mr Jason Zulke for failing to make timely repairs per the repair warranty in our signed contract.Desired Settlement: I need either Mr [redacted] personally or an employee of Z Fencing to contact me, schedule a repair date and time, show up at the agreed to date and time to repair or replace the warped trim boards on my deck that was built by Z Fencing and in accordance with the 5 Year Workmanship Warranty in their contract.

Response:

In response to Mr. [redacted] complaint. As I told him all was true with the truck break downs which disables us from getting there quick because the understanding person knows that things get backed up with the volume of regular work we have being the best in the business for this area. Also, the 5 year warranty is correct on the workmanship which if it were a workmanship issue we would still have 2 more years to get there. However, this is more of a TREX product issue hence the reason I pushed to sell Timbertech or AZEK to Mr. Williams but he insisted on using TREX. Thus the reason we sell and install the other 2 top quality products to avoid the expansion and severe contraction of the board which snapped the screws.
