La-Z-Boy sofa's bad quality leather and workmanship We bought our La-Z-Boy sofa set from the La-Z-Boy store in Baton Rouge in June of The sofa set is barely years old and we see the leather (not bonded) is peeling, mainly in the middle of the 3-seater which isn't used much as it does not have a reclinerI also saw leather cracks around the foot rest and staples opened there (my sister got hurt by one of these open staples and that's how we found out)I have pictures showing where the leather is peeling and the open staples When I called the La-Z-Boy store the first time, they told me to use a staple gun and fix it myself to save on cost of a repairman comingThen when I told them about the leather peeling, they instructed me to call Ultra Shield from whom I had bought a year fabric warrantyAfter trying to reach Ultrashield for a week (and then Christmas Holidays), I finally received a call back and my claim was denied as I hadn't reported the claim in days! Then I spoke with the store's service department and was told to contact the headquartersI spoke with "Nelly" who asked me to send all the pictures and details to the store and then they can send it to their quality departmentI never heard anything back regarding this as all they did was get in touch with Ultrashield again who had previously denied the claim After multiple calls and emails I received an email from the store saying that La-Z-Boy's production department has said, "Looking at the previous photos sent in, it appears the customer is putting weight in the unsupported area of the chaiseThis does add stress to the cover and causes the seams to open the staples to come loose." This is absolutely as we only use the chaise for putting our legs upAlso this had nothing to do with the middle seat peeling as it does not have a recline or chaise feature When I called to discuss this with the owner of the store, I asked to leave a messageI did this a couple of times but he never calledFinally, I was told by the store that I get it fixed myself and gave me a contact for their repairman who, I was told by them, is one of the best in the areaFollowing an inspection done by this repairman, he told me that the sofa has been well cared for and he wrote a report clearly stating that the leather has "tanning process failure" and "No abuse or use of damaging chemicals per my colorfast test." He also gave me an estimate for repairI feel we should not have to come out of pocket for We paid thousands for the sofas while being under the impression that La-Z-Boy has lasting products and will stand behind their qualityI am very disappointed in La-Z-Boy's product and service and for selling a junk warranty with Ultra-Shield who deny most of the claims based on loopholesIf a reputable company cannot stand behind its expensive products, it is disingenuous for them to tout their products'longevity and quality

La-Z-Boy sofa's bad quality leather and workmanship.
We bought our La-Z-Boy sofa set from the La-Z-Boy store in Baton Rouge in June of 2011. The sofa set is barely 4.5 years old and we see the leather (not bonded) is peeling, mainly in the middle of the 3-seater which isn't used much as it does not have a recliner. I also saw leather cracks around the foot rest and staples opened there (my sister got hurt by one of these open staples and that's how we found out). I have pictures showing where the leather is peeling and the open staples.

When I called the La-Z-Boy store the first time, they told me to use a staple gun and fix it myself to save on cost of a repairman coming. Then when I told them about the leather peeling, they instructed me to call Ultra Shield from whom I had bought a 10 year fabric warranty. After trying to reach Ultrashield for a week (and then Christmas Holidays), I finally received a call back and my claim was denied as I hadn't reported the claim in 5 days!

Then I spoke with the store's service department and was told to contact the headquarters. I spoke with "Nelly" who asked me to send all the pictures and details to the store and then they can send it to their quality department. I never heard anything back regarding this as all they did was get in touch with Ultrashield again who had previously denied the claim.

After multiple calls and emails I received an email from the store saying that La-Z-Boy's production department has said, "Looking at the previous photos sent in, it appears the customer is putting weight in the unsupported area of the chaise. This does add stress to the cover and causes the seams to open the staples to come loose." This is absolutely false as we only use the chaise for putting our legs up. Also this had nothing to do with the middle seat peeling as it does not have a recline or chaise feature.

When I called to discuss this with the owner of the store, I asked to leave a message. I did this a couple of times but he never called. Finally, I was told by the store that I get it fixed myself and gave me a contact for their repairman who, I was told by them, is one of the best in the area. Following an inspection done by this repairman, he told me that the sofa has been well cared for and he wrote a report clearly stating that the leather has "tanning process failure" and "No abuse or use of damaging chemicals per my colorfast test." He also gave me an estimate for repair. I feel we should not have to come out of pocket for.

We paid thousands for the sofas while being under the false impression that La-Z-Boy has lasting products and will stand behind their quality. I am very disappointed in La-Z-Boy's product and service and for selling a junk warranty with Ultra-Shield who deny most of the claims based on loopholes. If a reputable company cannot stand behind its expensive products, it is disingenuous for them to tout their products'longevity and quality.
