Response:

To whom it may concern:

This is reguarding case # 9604812. I am going to start from the beginning of his complaint, for starters Mr. [redacted] makes it sound like the first time he meet [redacted] was after he picked up his radiator, [redacted] was there to take out the radiator. Mr. [redacted] does not quote jobs over the phone like that because there could be more problems than what the driver says there is. As far as [redacted] being slow, he is a good mechanic, he does not milk the clock, he makes sure the job is done correctly. Also a leaky wheel seal is not an hour job, they are a mess and take a lot of time to clean up. The greasey parts that [redacted] wanted to replace was the brake shoes and a seal, the reason we replace the brake shoes when they have gotten greasey is because the material they use for making brakes is pourous and retains the grease which makes them not perform in the way they are suppose to, and the seal for that was the reason for the leaking. [redacted] took the parts back to the shop, where we have the appropriate equipment, to clean because the truck stops and EPA frown on making such a mess in a parking lot. Spraying brakes with brake cleaner is not going to get all the grease out. Leaking wheels seals are very messy and you can not have any dirt, it must be clean. I have personaly cleaned the mess of leaky wheel seals and it is not a 20 min job. As far as taking forever to put the radiator back in the semi-truck it is not a simple task.

The following is what [redacted] had written on the invoice: service callout, truck owner needed radiator pulled out of truck. took all hoses off as needed and took oil cooler and condenser loose from radiator frame, used boom on service truck to take aircooler and radiator out of truck. owner took radiator to a shop for recore. Left front oil seal on trailer leaking, jacked up axle, took tires, drums, shoes and hub off, took seal out of the hub. Had to go to shop to clean all parts needed, went and got new seal. Had to take time to clean brakeshoes, owner did not want new shoes. Went back to job, put new seal in hub and put hub on trailer and set bearrings, put shoes, drums and tires on and tightened all lugnuts, filled hub with oil, adjusted both brakes on the front axle. S-cam brackets broke on rear axle of the trailer. Put radiator and air cooler back on truck to owners satisfaction, put all hoses, brackets and bolts in and tightened, owner filled coolant and supplied coolant, checked for leaks OK. Air cooler missing rubber mounts and fan blades are in bad condition. We can not be responsible for anything that may happen in the future. Owner did not want to replace fan.

As you can tell from what [redacted] had written on the invoice that the truck and trailer are not very well maintained in the first place. It is not our fault that they drive junk down the road and don't take care of their equipment to the point that the repairs are so extreme, and it don't help when then just half-[redacted] things together and not repair it right. Quite frankly they are driving dangerous equipment down the road that could eventually hurt or kill someone. For one the S-cam brackets that are broke go to the brakes plus add that with the grease saoked brakes (which the customer did not want to replace) makes that a danger. We did what was asked of us we are not refunding Mr. [redacted] anything.

Sincerely,

[redacted]s Road Service
