As I see from those emails we had a theme that Zao didn’t like so we picked another one from the lists provided.

I feel bickering through Revdex.com emails is not helpful to anyone. Justin has said he does not have to time to migrate the site, but with the amount of time spent on these emails the issue could easily have been resolved.

We received the training on our website on Thursday June 9th, we were given access and expected to input our own information, copy, and media. When we expressed our opinion that the website was not finished our access was immediately revoked. This prompted a 45 minute phone call with Justin from Zao where we agreed upon the terms of Zao migrating our website immediately as is, with no further payment and no further changes to the site. The temporary site http://gvcbeans.zao.is/ is no longer accessible. Nothing has been migrated to gardenvalleyfoods.com as discussed. The file that was sent as an attachment with no directions and represented as a fully functioning website. (I tried to include it in this response but the Revdex.com website would not accept it.) When we requested that the site be migrated as agreed we were told to see GoDaddy for assistance. We were not told when the migration would happen, per the phone conversation it was to be immediately, and this is the first time that we have heard Thursday, one week after the agreement that is when it would be done. Our research into website migration showed that this should take 5-15 minutes, and at most 45 minutes if it had to be manually migrated. If there was any issues migrating the site we were not informed. In fact since the phone conversation last week all communications from Zao have been aggressive and degrading. The invoice we received for $7,200 we have received nothing in return. For the $3,000 already paid we have received nothing. We were told that our site would be fully customized and built for Garden Valley Foods’ needs, that it would be SEO optimized, registered with Google Business, and submitted to various search engines. None of those things were done. Justin had expressed his experience in building and custom designing such websites as Disney, OWN, Amazon… as seen in the attached screenshot of Zao customers listed on their website. We understand that Zao’s team put time into adding plugins to a theme which is why we agreed to have the site as is (as it was during the training, not sure what it is now. Attached is the screenshot for what it is currently) for the deposit amount. Once the site is received this problem would be resolved.

It became apparent that she was not an experienced programmer, this was like a self-taught, from her home training. None of the bugs of the “finished” website had been worked out, she was attempting to fix them as she was moving the through the different areas of the website. There was many error screens displayed in the training, right after the training we were sent the invoice.
We are not sure what the custom code Zao is referring to (nearly 800 lines of custom code, on top of approximately 40-50 hours of work our team put into development, project management, communication, and training), as the file sent does not even open. As we were told on the phone Zao pays $200/hr with 40-50 hours of work done you would already be $800 over budget. Sincerely,[redacted]

This customer has misrepresented our initial proposal.
We NEVER mentioned that there would be a custom design, and in fact went through a lengthy process to help them select a template for their website! They were aware they were selecting a template and not receiving a custom design.
The client...

underwent our final training session, and at the end of the training thanked us for our effort and building of the site - leading us to believe we had successfully completed the project.  With our portions of the project complete, we sent a final invoice, which triggered this complaint from someone in their company who was uninvolved in the project's entire duration.  Had they been a stakeholder from the beginning, this misunderstanding could have been avoided.  Then instead of communicating any of their concerns, complaints, or issues to allow us a chance to clarify our position, agreements, and offer a solution; they requested a complete refund.
Furthermore, we DID provide the client with their entire website (Database and Files) via email LAST week (as verbally agreed upon).  We told them that we'd be happy to migrate their site for them (which represents a $4,200 loss for us, a compromise we graciously agreed to) from our staging site to their production server. We told them we'd do that at our earliest convenience, which is later this week.
Finally, we communicated to the client that the deposit they paid is non-refundable, which is our standard process for all projects.
After our last conversation with this client, our staging site for the project on our personal server was redirected to their URL without any communication to us, they filed a complaint with Paypal against us, effectively nullifying our verbal agreement of our solution over the phone, and have filed a claim now with you, all while inaccurately stating that a migration only takes a few minutes of effort.
This claim is bogus, and unfortunately, this client is under some seriously misguided perceptions about how client services work, the standard [redacted]et rates for our industry, and the work we have actually done on this project.

> Yes we picked out a theme, it was not a lengthy process. We received the initial lead for this project from [redacted] on February 1st. This conversation had 22 emails in it, over a span of two weeks. A large portion of these email conversations were us consulting with [redacted] on what theme for them to choose. We have attached a PDF of this email conversation.> We were told which one to purchase because it worked best for Zao.As you can see in the referenced PDF (on February 3rd), that is simply not true.  One quote from us, in particular, makes this very clear, from February 3rd:"Any of those at that link, that you particularly like - should be fine.  I don't usually recommend ThemeForest - but they do have the highest variety and now that they have that quality designation, that helps.I do generally quite like StudioPress and ArrayThemes though as well.  Within those three marketplaces - it's entirely up to you!"> We have not been given a time when the site would be given to us.We were sent an email that was supposed to contain the website for us to migrate, what we received was not a functioning website. It was a few pages with dummy data and that's it, not the website that they claimed was finished. The site provided has all the custom code (nearly 800 lines of custom code, on top of approximately 40-50 hours of work our team put into development, project management, communication, and training), all the content they provided (which was very little content, by the way - perhaps why she is referencing "dummy data").  The website was "finished", in that we had completed all of the custom functionality, as well as provided them with the necessary training to input their content.  From everything I was able to ascertain in verbal communications, the primary reason for this complaint is that they weren't happy with the design aesthetic of the theme that they chose - which is not our responsibility.  They also expressed frustration with not having their logo on their website. There was a misunderstanding in the training session - they understood that they would not be able to have their logo on their website.  Understandably problematic.  In our follow-up conversation, I made it abundantly clear to them that they COULD have their logo on the website, and we would be happy to add it to their website (naturally, at no additional charge).  It would, in fact, require a customization to the theme they selected (which is why our developer said that the theme couldn't add the logo - that functionality didn't exist in the theme) and theme customization was not in the scope of the project. That said, we did communicate that we would have been happy to add the logo to the theme at NO charge.> That's not what we were expecting per our verbal agreement which prompted us to contact Revdex.com and Pay Pal. When we were having the training on the "final' website we were unaware until the invoice came that the website was considered complete. It is missing basic items such as our logo, that we are told is not compatible to add to that theme. The website does not even fill the whole web page, it has white space on the sides that we are also told we cannot fill. These are things when you are expected to pay over $7,000 for a website, it should be a nice functioning website with OUR LOGO.Again - we already communicated to them that they could have their logo on the site, we would have been happy to add it for them. Please note: these clients sell dehydrated beans - they are not designers.  So we don't put any weight or consideration into their perspective of white space on the side of the theme. If they wanted to fill that space, they should have made that clear in the beginning of the project, or asked those questions during the theme selection process.> We were also told if we wanted training on some of the plugins, or to have different functions of the plugins we would have to go do tutorials with the website the plugin came from. We paid for plugins, yet our website only had the free version of the plugin. Again, this is simply not entirely true.  The client has access to, has the licenses for, and and has the actual plugins for every plugin they purchased.  This is exactly why we had them purchase them - so they can make sure they always have access to them, and can keep them activated and updated without any dependence on us. As far as training on the plugins - these plugins they purchased come with a vast amount of training resources and documentation - naturally, we point them to the source for that documentation.  This is highly normative in our industry.  To reiterate - after our conversation last week - we told this client that we'd take the $4,200 loss this project represents for us, and migrate their site as soon as possible.  For us, that meant this week (Thursday, in fact).  This entire conflict arose through no fault of our own, but rather, because there were shareholders who had expectations that were miles apart from the shareholders that were actually involved in the project.  Because they have chosen to inhibit our cash flow by submitting a fraudulent refund request to PayPal, and tarnish our reputation by leaving a negative (and largely untrue, misguided) review on the Revdex.com - we have no other choice than to consider any verbal agreement nullified by these actions.
