This letter is being written in response to the above listed complaint.
The date of loss for this fire job was 6/19/2014. Zara Construction, Inc. was called and Joe Z[redacted] met Mr. [redacted] on 7/23/2014 at his home to review damages. Mrs. [redacted] arrived at the end of the meeting.
At the time of the meeting, Mr. [redacted] informed us that he was under insured based on his lowering his coverage limits. He stated that he would use the Amish for certain stages of the loss, such as demo and cabinetry, to help offset his shortage of coverage to try and save some money. He also said he would be salvaging the damaged wood floor and refinishing it himself to try and save some expense.
At the time of the meeting I had told Mr. [redacted] that the damages far exceeded his coverages and we would be willing to work on the job to what degree we could.
Our estimator Matt H[redacted] scoped the damages to the home on 7/30/2014 and gave a rough verbal estimate of $130,000.00-$150,000.00.
On 8/13/2014 Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] came to our office to review the final line item estimate and they signed and approved the rebuild at this time. We tried to convince them multiple times that the repair costs far exceeded the final finished home value, but they were adamant about repairing the house. The [redacted]'s came back to the office on 8/28/2014 to review the estimate again to see where some cost savings might be due to them being under insured. We spent

many hours explaining the cost savings available and they chose to proceed with us for the full line item estimate amount and to have Zara Construction, Inc. do all the repairs.
The [redacted]s met at our office again on 9/3/2014 to further review the estimate for their consideration.
Mark O[redacted] and Matt H[redacted] walked thru fire job to verify estimate accuracy on 9/18/2014 prior to repair inception.
The [redacted]s returned to our office on 11/12/2014 to review the estimate again. Matt H[redacted] reviewed estimate and spoke to the homeowners about not repairing the structure and what expenses would be billed at this point in time if they decided to back out and not do the repairs. The [redacted]s still choose to proceed with the fire damage repairs.
The [redacted]s were met at their home on 12/23/2014 to review and choose plumbing fixtures.
2/9/2015 The [redacted]s signed a customer requested change order to install laminate flooring, at customer's expense, in place of Mr. [redacted] refinishing the wood floor as initially planned. Joe Z[redacted] upgraded the homeowner's upstairs door at no charge to them.
3/3/2015 Mrs. [redacted] called and asked for Zara Construction, Inc. to call [redacted], a [redacted] Insurance attorney, as he was looking for all estimates pertaining to this job to seek reimbursement from [redacted] was responsible for the fire according to the [redacted]s.
3/4/15 Mrs. [redacted] was called and a $50,000.00 draw was requested in order to keep the job moving forward. She said that was no problem and the check would be ready when the crews arrived. The total job was only a few weeks from completion.
In order to keep any job moving, large jobs in particular, a draw schedule is set up. The [redacted] draws were requested as stated in the signed contract. Zara Construction, Inc. is not in the business of financing any renovation projects. Mr.and Mrs. [redacted] should understand this having been in business for over 60 years. Regardless of the cause of the damage, these draw requests were not out of line. To call our office staff "blood thirsty heathens" and to say that we are the most "money hungry company I have ever dealt with", when Zara Construction, Inc. was attempting to collect draws/payments that were due for the job completion points as agreed, was out of line!! We are a professional company and our staff would not belittle or talk to any o homeowner in this manner. We feel very bad that the [redacted]'s have experienced the fire damage to their home, but we did went above and beyond our agreed damage repair scope and price to give them a quality product of which Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] have stated they are very happy with the work and even signed our Certificate of Satisfaction. The homeowner added additional work and change orders throughout the

course of the project increasing the cost of the original repair estimate. Payment for additional customer requested work, outside the scope of insurance repairs, is expected to be paid when the change order is signed by the homeowner. Again, while we feel bad that the homeowners sustained this loss, it is not our issue to accommodate their financial situation and be involved as to where the money is coming from in order for them to pay the draws, customer change orders and final balance owed.
In closing, the [redacted]'s have signed the Certificate of Satisfaction with all work 100% complete and there is a final balance due to Zara Construction, Inc. from them. As of today that final balance has not been paid. Zara Construction, Inc. requests that this Revdex.com complaint against them be closed.
