Dealership sold truck with dead battery and failed brakes
I purchased a 2011 Range Rover truck from this dealership on March 17. I took delivery of the vehicle on March 22. The dealership kept the vehicle for those five days supposedly to go through the truck (oil change, detailing, check brakes, fluids, etc.) as well as having it state inspected. We later found that nothing was done to the vehicle. No oil change, detailing, or maintenance whatsoever. On March 23, the day after I took delivery, the vehicle would not start and I found that the battery was dead and would not take a charge by AAA. It could not be jump started by AAA nor hold a charge. It needed a new battery. I had to purchase a new battery for $250. When this first happened I immediately contacted the dealership and they just told me to have the truck towed to the dealership an hour away (at my expense) and they would install a battery, which was totally inconvenient to me since I was alone, as well as not trusting them as to what quality battery they would install. I suggested they send down a mechanic to my home with a new battery but they ignored my request. After reaching out to them with an invoice for the replacement battery, they refused to pay the $250 and offered me only $70, which is well below any quality battery (even wholesale as they claimed) that is required for this SUV. On April 20, just 35 days after my purchase and only 875 miles later, the brakes failed. The car could not be driven. It is my only source of transportation, BTW. Since it was past the 30-day implied warranty by the dealer, I had to go to a mechanic. The vehicle had scored rotors and seized calipers on the rear two wheels. All four sets of brakes had failed and needed to be replaced by a Range Rover trained mechanic. Obviously not by Prestige Motors, who sells many different vehicles by different manufacturers and who is known to do shoddy work after reading other complaints. They delivered this vehicle knowing the brakes were failing as noted by the trained mechanic. At the time the mechanic also noticed that the emergency brake was inoperable, and that too had to be replaced. Although the dealership had the vehicle inspected before delivery, I do not understand how it could have passed inspection without a working emergency brake as required by law. The cost of the brakes repair was $2499.59.
