I retained this Law form because of an immigration issue pertaining to my fiancé. Mr. *** was the attorney representing us on behalf of the firm. My fiancé was incarcerated at Otero county Proccesing center in Chapparal, New Mexico at the time of the retention. We are both from south Florida and the lawyer was informed of this. In turn my whole trust was put into the firm to help me fight for the release of my fiancé on bond. A $2,000.00 dollar fee was requested. We obliged and put $1,00.00 down, and paid $500.00 for the next two weeks.
I was made aware of the fact that they we only hired to represent my fiancé on bond hearing and not master hearing. ( which is part of the process when detained by immigration.) due to an unfortunate series of events and turns the lawyer never had to attend court on his behalf. But did visit him at the jail twice. On April 24th, 2018, the lawyer was notified that his service es were not needed at the time, and two days later we requested a refund. I was informed that it would be 14 business days until it was processed. Due to a few miscommunicated calls the refund was delayed. I finally received a partial refund. The firm informed me that they only had record of receiving $1,500.00 from me. I was able to produce receipts that $2,000.00 was indeed deposited into the attorneys account. Since verifying that the full amount was sent I have heard many different stories about the release of the second part of the refund. They ranged from we will return your call, Mr. is on vacation, to we have no control over the checks only he does. It is a full month later and I have yet to receive my full refund.
