This
woman did indeed call and speak to me
at length about the diarrhea she said she
and her friend suffered from after
dining with us. She said that she was a
regular, that she loved the Zia Diner and that she had never had a problem with
our food in the past
I
told her I was sorry that she had an upset after dining with us, but that we
had sold many fried items the day she was in and that NO ONE else had called
with a problem, nor had any of our own staff had an issue. I explained that we change our fryer oil
times a week, that our coffee urns are cleaned thoroughly every night
I
offered to send her a gift certificate for her next visit. She informed me that she would NEVER return
to the Zia Diner, since our food had clearly made her sick, and asked why I
would even think she would return. I
said if she was a regular who had many excellent meals here over the years, I
assumed she would give us another chance.
She said no, she would never return
I
was sympathetic to the fact that she had some digestive distress, but unwilling
to say that I knew we were culpable, due to the fact that we serve at least
people a day and no one else had a problemI attempted to compensate her with a gift certificate.
