Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below This is a lie I have eyecare insurance They told me during the exam that my eye insurance would not cover it, but if submitted under ***s medical insurance it might This is when I pulled him from his exam Why would I pull him during an exam? It was too to stop the first part [redacted] and I are not divorced How can I be divorced if we were never marriedWhy would I make this up Are you kidding me! The Drcalled me personally and discussed what occurred the day of ***'s visit and afterThey will be writing off the amount billedI have never had anything but exceptional service from the Doctors at this officeThe practice of reviewing insurance information while a patient is already being examined is wrongI have been to this office in the past with no issuesUnited Health Care is not accepted unless medical issue discovered, and my eye care insurance is not accepted at this officeThis is something I am now aware of, and will have to go elsewhereIf their policy changed in the future and they were accepting my type of insurance I would consider going backThank you for your assistance in this matterP>[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. We received your letter on the case of ***ary Torpy. We were not aware of any vision/eyecare insurance plan that would have covered his eye exam at our officeWe did attempt to submit the exam to his father's United Health Care plan and it was denied.I'm not sure what ***ary's mother meant about pulling him from the exam. We did a complete examination with preliminary testing, then he saw me for refraction to determine updated prescription, and dilated eye health exam.I apologize for DrZiegler's assuming ***ary's parents were divorced.Sincerely,Dr*** ***

I reviewed the case regarding ***ary Torpy with my staff. My partner, Dr***, saw ***ary for an eye exam on February 11, 2015. His mother brought him in and told us that their insurance was United Health Care, which is used for medical health issues and is not a vision plan
for routine exams. She was informed of that but told that if *** had a medical eye problem, the exam would be billed to United Health Care. He came to us with a desire to try contact lenses. He had no medical issues and his exam was properly billed to the patient. When we didn't receive payment my billing staff called to discuss this with them. Since the parents are divorced we had their accounts set up separately. We inadvertently had ***ary's sister as the primary person responsible for his bill instead of his mother *** ***. We were given the sister's name as an emergency contact instead of the responsible party. When my staff called the daughter instead of the mother, she apologized for that mistake and talked to the parents instead. There was no deception our on part at any time. This is a simple mistake of calling the wrong person to follow up on a past due bill. They didn't have a vision plan that would have covered the exam and it was billed properly.*** ***, OD

Review: We have been to this location in the past with no billing or staff issues. We are a split family. I carry the eye insurance under my United Health Care insurance, and my son [redacted]'s father carries the medical under his United Health Care insurance. They had all of my insurance information when I arrived, and waited for [redacted] to be called in for his exam.. As I sat in the waiting room during my sons eye exam they proceed to tell me my eye care insurance does not cover his exam. Then tell me they can attempt to submit it under [redacted]'s insurance as medical. I call [redacted] who says why are you there they pulled this same crap with his daughter [redacted]. I said to the woman at the desk if you knew my insurance does not cover this then why would you examine him? I was under the impression that it was covered, and now his father is telling me this happened recently with his daughter? I pulled [redacted] from the exam room to stop further services as he wanted contacts. It was very upsetting not only to me but also to my 13 year old whose primary reason for going was to get contacts for the first time. Today 6/23/15 I received a call from someone at the eye care office telling me they just got off the phone with [redacted] who was very unhappy. Apparently, they called [redacted] his daughter to follow up on payment. [redacted] is an emergency contact from what I can recall not responsible party. This only added to the anger and disappointment.Desired Settlement: This is an unfair practice very deceiving to see a patient, and inform the parent when they are already in and it is too late to do anything about it! An apology is really not acceptable. This should have been written off when we were there, and I still believe we should not be billed or called regarding their error. I will not recommend them to anyone.
