I rejected this offer because as I stated before I do not trust this jewelry store, I will not let them touch another piece of my jewelryI have paid them over a thousand dollors so why do they think I would take lessI had very high quality *** and emerald in the ring when I gave the ring to them to work on and now I have synthetic stones The other jewelry store that I had looked at the ring said the settings were distorted so bad that they would never hold stones To make this ring whole again will be labor intensive, labor cost money

First I think its important to tell you that I've been a goldsmith since 1972, and have owned Zimmerman Jewelers for 33 years. The customers purchase was a 2 part deal. When she brought the ring in, it consisted of one center stone - a marquise cut  diamond and 2 smaller stones,...

a [redacted] and emerald. the 2 smaller stones, also marquise cut, were apprx. 4x2mm 1) She purchased a diamond band style WR2013/KW. The regular price was $750 on sale for  $529. This diamond band is a ring that was soldered next to her existing set, not supporting or touching the 2 new crowns soldered on her set. 2)The 2  crowns we set on her ring is #[redacted]. The crowns are the settings that we set one garnet in and the other a citrine. The customer lost the [redacted] and emerald, which were already in her ring before we worked on it. Plus the garnet and citrine twice. That's when I set a synthetic citrine for the reason that it's harder than a natural one.  Something's happening to knock these stones out. I did this to resolve the situation. A natural citrine is a brittle stone. The crowns were more than acceptable to hold these stones. We feel the best resolution in this situation is to remove the stones, crowns, and diamond band she purchased and refund the entire amount of $750 which is what she paid. If this is acceptable, we would want her to mail her ring to our store. We will remove the diamond band, crowns, and stones we added to her ring. We will mail her a check for $750 along with her ring. [redacted] and [redacted]Zimmerman JewelersRice Lake, WI

We are standing firm with our original response we sent. We also would like to add some additional information that may be helpful. The customer had filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection. I contacted them today and was told that after they received our response,  which they thought was fair, the account had been closed. To us that indicates they were satisfied with our response. We are sending copies of our receipts for what she paid for the work done on her ring and an image of the ring she purchased. We just happen to have one in stock and you can see the sale price is $529. Also the prices of the stones she mentioned are quite out of line as to what they really are. That's why we are also showing a page from Stuller, a popular wholesale company where we get most of our gemstones from. We would sell that stone that's pictured for about $65.That ring when she brought it in was in good shape except for the missing stone (not mangled) The work the jeweler had done was straight forward. He soldered on  crowns to hold the stones he set and then soldered her new diamond band to her ring. So its no problem to remove the  crowns and take off the band. So, again, our response is to refund the entire amount she spent which is $750, and remove stones, crowns, and diamond band that she purchased from us. Thank you,[redacted] and [redacted]Zimmerman Jewelers
