Zip Locksmith Reviews (%countItem)

I contacted Zip locksmith on January 21, 2020 at 7:10 am to retrieve my keys from my locked car located in carnation, wa. I got a call from a tech named Ben a few minutes later saying he was on his way and would be there soon. I asked over the phone for a quote to which he refused to tell me because he “had to see it first”. Once he showed up, he told me to sign the receipt before he touched my car because it’s their policy. I signed, then he told me it would be $169 to open the car, and a $29 service fee. I told him that’s expensive, but he didn’t seem to speak English that well so he said he was going to unlock the car now. He used two airbag tools and a long pole to open my car. Once he opened my car, he said it will be $217 with taxes. I asked if I could pay with a card and he was very pushy that I pay with cash instead. I paid $120 in cash and $97 on a card. After he left, I looked at more of their reviews, and realized that many people have had this problem with them. I had my friend call them to ask for a quote and they quoted a $30 service charge and $40-60 for the service at the same place I had it done. I called back that evening and asked to speak to a manager, was told one would contact me that night or the next morning, and was again quoted over the phone a $30 service charge and $40-60 max to unlock the car at the same place I had it done, and techs should not quote until after they do the service. I called back at 11:30am on the 22nd to speak to a manager, they said he was at lunch and would call me back, which he did not. I called again at 2:20 and was told he would call me back. He called me at 2:40 and told me the best he could do is 20% ($43) back on my card, and the bad reviews online are fake so he doesn’t understand why I’m upset at the cost. I tried to explain how unprofessional they seem, and that it was not $217 worth of service that I received. He told me he could do $50 and nothing more because he believes they have great customer service.

I have had a great experience with this Locksmith. Joey is who helped me. He was extremely responsive to my request, had good communication throughout and completed the change very quickly. I appreciate the timeliness. Great company!

SCAMMING CON-ARTISTSDO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS. I am warning you that you WILL BE SCAMMED! These are legit thieves! My husband was quoted $29 tech fee and about $60 for unlocking our car door. He agreed and told them where our car was parked. The guy came out in a super beat up shady mini van with no company name or logo on it! Should of been my first RED FLAG! He barely spoke English and was trying to talk to me but I couldn't understand a word he was saying because his English was basically nonexistent (probably done on purpose because these guys are cons). It took him less than 1 minute to pop open our car door. I handed him my credit card and he ended up charging me $140!!!!!!! After we discovered this we called the company and they put us in touch with the guy who did the work. He literally YELLED at my husband and said "this is what everyone charges". My husband called the company back and explained that they quoted us less than $100. The guy did 45 seconds of work and the price nearly doubled when they ran my credit card. The lady on the phone sarcastically told my husband "I'm sorry about that sweetie, and HUNG UP ON HIM". What kind of fraud company is this? This is absolutely disgusting. Unethical and I hope that you are caught for fraud!

This is a scam. Quoted me $75-$100 on the phone. Charged me $200 after 3 minutes of work.

On a panic, we hired this company on a lockout situation. They turn out to be a bait-n-switch operation.
We were quoted a price by phone which was ok with us. But when the technician showed up, he checked the locks and told us the price which is more than double! Then it took him no more than 15 seconds to open the door. We felt very much cheated!!
When we tried to contact the owner/manager afterward, we found no way to reach them directly. We were provided an email address only for complaints. I did receive a call back which left me a message. But the message had no name, and no phone number associated. I used their caller ID to call back but only found it to be an invalid number. Something VERY fishy here!!
We now have good reasons to believe their high reviews on *** are fake reviews. The majority of the reviewers are NOT local people.

Do not call these dudes!!!!!!!!! You will get ripped off! First they tell me 60 bucks and a 29 dollar tech fee. So it was already expensive but they were the quickest and I had to getto work. Then the dude shows up and tell me that it would be 124. At this point im being ripped off already but I had to be atwork in 15 min so I didnt have time to wait on anyone else. After he pops the lock on my car the charge ended up being 174. The dude didnt even do anything extra. My window was cracked. Ot took 30 seconds. Once again the service was already provided and I had to be at work in 15 min.... DO NOT CALL ZIP LOCKSMITH!

I used Zip Locksmith services to get a key replaced for my vehicle. Benjamin, the Zip locksmith employee arrived at my home and informed me that the price was going to be $100.00 more than the $195.00 I was originally told because he had to make a special key equipped with a chip in it, and he proceeded to say that if he could make me a regular metal key, I would be within the limits of the original stated price. Benjamin from Zip Locksmith proceeded to take my $295.00 and shortly after I had to leave for work, entrusting my father to wait with Benjamin while my replacement key was in the process of being made. Come to find out the next day when I took possession of my new key, it was a regular, plain metal key, there was no special chip involved whatsoever. I called Zip Locksmith and requested to speak to a supervisor or a manager the following day- and I was promised a phone call back from a supervisor. The following day I called and asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and more promises were made that a supervisor would call me back. The next day when I called, my phone number was blocked by Zip Locksmith at an attempt to silence this issue without resolve. Just to make sure their business phone hadn't been disconnected I called them from a different number, it worked, and again I was promised to receive a supervisor phone call back, yet to no avail. Zip Locksmith refuses to resolve this continuing issue and is allowing employees to lie to customers and take money from them for made-up services. Upon researching my specific car key details, I found out that there is no such thing as a chip in any of the keys made for my car, and it really was a made-up story by the Zip Locksmith employee.

I’m sorry to hear that your service call was less than satisfactory. We have read your complaint and understand our service provider overcharged you by $100. Please be aware that the contractor who provided the work was subcontracted out by Zip Locksmith and is in no way affiliated with our company. However, we do back all of our customers when we provide a set price. In your case you were originally quoted $195 but ended up paying $295. Therefore we have contacted the service provider who performed the work and come to an agreement to refund you the $100. Please forward your mailing address as soon as possible so we get your refund over to you. As a another way of saying sorry we’d also like to offer you a one time 25% discount on any locksmith service you may need. Thank you, Zip Locksmith Tell us why here...

I called Zip Locksmith to have three door knobs and dead bolts replaced. The technician was pleasant but inept. He mixed the colors (one gold deadbolt and a silver door knob), failed to put a strike plate on one door, left all the materials he had removed from the doors on the floor, did not provide me with warranty information on the "state of the art" door locks and knobs he installed, and wanted cash for the $1,000 he charged me. Today, when I called to complain I was told they had never heard of me (yet I have the receipt with their number, address, dates, etc.) and when they called back to acknowledge their mistake, I was told to go check all the locks to be sure there wasn't anything else I didn't like. I would think they would be concerned enough about their tech and the reputation of the business to have the tech go through his work and be sure nothing is left undone.

Thank you for providing your feedback. One of our company’s core policies and fundamental principles is to ensure customer satisfaction - without exception or excuse, and at any cost. It is clear that our service this instance was less than satisfactory and we would like to stick to our code of conduct by taking full responsibility for the final result and recompensing you for an amount that you find agreeable. We do business this way because we believe that it is our duty and obligation to service our clients the way we would want to be serviced; and if we were in your shoes, we would want some sort of pecuniary compensation as well. We have tried reaching you several times since our last transmission - to no avail - so please give us a call as soon as possible so we can come to resolution.

Gratefully Yours,
Mike

Jim was a very good tech and he deserves the best review I could possibly post here on Revdex.com. The reason being that he was able to remove the jammed key in my lock and get me into my own house again. And it was all done within a matter of minutes, which made it even more impressive.
Thank you
Zip locksmith

Over charged ($220.00) for service that should have cost $69.00. I called the dispatch this am and they said it $69.00 plus service charge.

ZIP LOCKSMITH On behalf of Zip Locksmith I would like to say that we here understandthat honest and fair pricing is crucial in maintaining a well respectedbusiness. In the case of *** we did not directly provideservice to *** because he was out of our service area. Insteadwe referred *** to a company with in his area to provide thecar unlock service he called to request. And because of our friendlyties with the company that provided the service we quickly informed themof ***’s case. After reviewing the case and communicating to*** the external company found that because the technician wasunable to unlock the car as *** expected the company shouldhonor the price of unlocking the vehicle and waive the home lockout feethat was charged. Finally both parties have come to an agreement toissue a refund in the amount of $100 dollars to Mr.. Again we arein no way affiliated with the company that provided the services but westrive to protect our customers when we provide them a referral to adifferent company. Thank you Zip Locksmith
