Point 1: The LCD was not being produced at the time the customer brought in the PC for repair Therefore, we could not obtain one from our standard suppliers We were hoping to find a used one The customer was informed on the original visit that there would be a delay of several weeks until the search was exhausted
Point 2: We now have our customer initial that in rare cases there might be a re-assemble fee Additionally, the desktop was not functional and re-assembly would not have helped As an attempt to cross reference the LCD replacement part model number, disassembly was necessary Thus, we disassembled the desktop to find the actual part / model of the broken LCD itself This was time consuming, but we went the extra mile to make every attempt to find a replacement LCD We give free estimates and on rare occasions we must disassemble a product to give a proper estimate In these rare cases (since we don't charge an upfront fee like most computer repair companies) we do charge a re-assemble fee if no chargeable work is performed
Point 3: The customer approved the computer that they would receive by exchanging their damaged PC The customer also had 7-days to return the exchanged computer They could have simply returned the desktop that they exchanged and received their computer back
Point 4: When the customer stated that somebody's data was on their computer we offered to take a look at it immediately to validate the claim and remove the data However, they said they already erased the data and would not allow us to examine the data transfer Here at Zippy Laptops we make every possible attempt to safeguard our customer's privacy and data It was unfortunate that we could not verify that any error was made on our part Sometimes, a customer forgets that a relative or friend was on their computer and put data on it without the owner's knowledge Also, there is zombie virus software that can take over and control a remote computer Since we could not verify their claim, it cannot be stated that our company made any such error in the data transfer No company is perfect, but we do make every possible effort to safeguard our customer's privacy and data
Conclusion: We acted in good-faithWe offered an alternative solution that the customer accepted Now, they want to change the deal after the 7-day return policy expired Here at zippy-laptops we attempt to make a friend in every transaction Just as in personal life, we can't make a friend of everybody that enters our store, but we do try to make a friend of everybody that enters our store
