ToWhom It May
Concern, 9/15/15I want to address thecomplaint that was filed on July 6th b* *** *** *** *** of *** ** *** ** *** **. *** *** has been a customer of mine since my second season in business in 2009, and his lawn has always been cut on a weekly basis unless he called otherwise. More often than not it has been cut on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, but never every three weeks. On 6/1/*** ***asked that his lawn not be cut because it was turning brown and he was concerned it would burn up. He made the samerequest on 6/8/15, and I advised him that it should still get cut because even though the grass was browning slightly was still growing substantially. Over the course of that week, leading up to *** *** next lawn service on 6/15/15, there was significant rainfall. On 6/15/15, he called wondering where our crew was and why his lawn hadn’t been serviced Due to the contour of his property, how high the grass was, and the length in time that it would take to service it, a plan had to be made inadvance to allow for extra man time at his property. This message was conveyed to *** *** whenI returned his phone call prior to our arrival on 6/22/15, and I specificallystated that extra charges would ensue due to the extra time that would berequired to service his property. OnMonday, 6/22/15, four men left our equipment yard and headed directly to *** where it took them hours (total man hours) to accomplish whatnormally takes 3-men minutes (2.25-total man hours) to complete. The men were not ‘wasting time’ at his housewaiting for additional crew members on that day. [There was an instance, on a separate daythan that of the high-cut, where I dropped two crew members off at his propertytowards the end of the day to wait for additional crew members to cut hisproperty while I went to continue work at another job.] Upon creating the invoice, I took *** ***longevity as a customer into consideration and discounted his bill by charginghim for man hours instead of 13. *** *** questioned my foreman about the high bill at which time myforeman advised that he contact me directly. *** *** never contacted me about the bill nor did he stop me while Iwas mowing his property to ask about it. When payment for the invoice was not received by the following month Isent a late payment notice. It was atthat point that *** *** contacted me stating that he no longer wanted ourservices, and, when asked, confirmed that he was canceling so he didn’t have topay the outstanding invoice. As far as the otheraccusations in the complaint, I repaired the errors that I was informedof. When the gutter broke, *** ***contacted me to make me aware of the issue at which point I contacted acontractor for the repairs. *** ***did not pay for the repairs, as he was not involved in this process, I did. I was never informed about the broken gateotherwise I would have paid for those repairs also.Lastly, while I haveonly owned my own company for eight years I have been working in the landscapeindustry for almost years. *** ***is not a landscape professional, nor does he run a crew of landscapers, thereforehe is not qualified to decide who on our crew is skilled or unskilled. My men do not mow a customer’s property untilthey have been properly trained and can surpass the high standards of qualitythat I have set for my company. If I wasnot confident in the abilities of my men, or in their potential, they would notbe employed with my company. Based upon theinaccuracies of his complaint and his negligence to discuss the invoice ofquestion with me personally, I will honor his initial request to terminate ourbusiness relationship and will not resume lawn maintenance services.Thank you for your timewith this matter as it is greatly appreciated.Sincerely, *** *** ***

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to [redacted] and am accepting the fact that our request to have our relationship terminated has been accepted. I want to thank ** * for articulating the events that have occurred. I've since moved out of the home and unfortunately, all of my belongings are currently in storage, so I am unable to neither confirm nor deny the comments provided. I do, however, have a few clarifications/comments to add to clear up the inaccuracies of Jay's response. On 6/22 [redacted] did not drop off 2 crew members. They came in their own truck and after a few minutes of attempting to cut the grass they stopped. When I asked them what was going on, they informed me that they had to wait for the foreman because he wasn't sure how to cut the backyard. I don't need to be a landscaping professional, nor do I have to run a crew of landscapers to hear what an individual tells me. He used to be a chef and he was now doing landscaping, he was new and wasn't sure how to cut our backyard, it was the first time he was at our property. I simply conveyed what this individual told me. He, and his colleague, waited for the foreman to get to the property. And I have run a successful business for over 25 years, so I'm keenly aware of the level of service anyone should be provided.[redacted], his foreman, and the other employees who were at the house, all knew that they broke the lock on the gate. It is puzzling that [redacted] believes these are accusations, when these are factual events that occurred and communicated. In the few weeks prior to my moving out of Sussex County, I hired a new landscaping company to maintain our property. An individual, one person, was met with "tall grass" -- the grass was cut and the edging was completed in under 2 hours. It doesn't take a landscaping professional to know that this comparison highlights a drastic discrepancy on the number of people and the amount of time it takes to maintain a property. 2 total man hours vs 13 seems outlandish. The fact is, the crew showed up a week after we requested the grass to be cut. We requested the grass to be cut after a few weeks - something we had traditionally done this time of year. The fact that [redacted] waited another week was his decision and we shouldn't be penalized for it. I do not recall [redacted] telling me that they had to plan of this, I recall him telling me that they haven't forgotten about me. And the fact was, the grass was not high at all. When I questioned the foreman about this bill, he simply commented that they were already paid and he wasn't sure what the bill was for. Why we were treated this way when we go through this every year is beyond me.I wish him and his business luck in the future.Regards, [redacted]
