ZONE Athletic Fort Collins Reviews (%countItem)

I have a monthly plan with this club. It's an autopay on my debit card. I HAVE SEVERAL LOCAL BUSINESSES WHERE I AM SIGNED UP FOR MONTHLY AUTOPAY. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM IMMEDIATELY STOPPED CHARGING, MID MARCH, FOR SERVICES THEY COULD NOT RENDER DUE TO COVID 19. I have emailed 2 different people at this club asking to please put a temporary "hold" on my account. I WAS NOT EVEN ASKING TO CANCEL THEIR SERVICE! This is customary. I AM PERSONAL FRIENDS WITH THE OWNERS OF ANOTHER GYM IN FORT COLLINS AND A CLUB ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT CONTINUE TO CHARGE WHEN THE GYM IS CLOSED! I contacted my bank and they told me I would have to go into the bank, which they aren't even doing right now, to cancel my card and then open a new one...in order for this charge to decline. This is absolutely ridiculous. Complaints about this company are being posted online on a neighborhood forum. If they would have done the right thing in this situation, then they would still have a business coming out of the shut down. However, with how many frustrated people there are...I doubt this business wiLL survive. ALSO, IF INDEED THIS COMPANY WERE STILL PAYING EMPLOYEES ETC...MANY CUSTOMERS WOULD NOT MIND BEING CHARGED (I am an out of work single mom with 3 kids, I can't afford to pay for services I can't use/don't receive). However, word is their employees have not been paid. ALSO, THEY CHARGED MY CARD TODAY WHICH IS EARLIER THAN USUAL. VERY VERY FISHY. I HAVE ALSO NEVER RECEIVED ANY COMMUNICATION FROM THIS BUSINESS REGARDING THEIR "PLAN" ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS CRISIS IN RELATION TO THEIR BUSINESS. THIS IS ANOTHER REASON I AM NOT COMFORTABLE AT ALL WITH THE ZERO RESPONSE AND STILL CHARGING MY CARD.

Hello:

This compliant is made to the "WRONG" health Club entity. The member is contacting *** in FL and this complaint is for Zone Athletic Clubs in the state of CO. We are supporting the CO clubs and happy to assist. All members were given the option to FREEZE, get a credit or cancel once the Clubs were forced to close in CO in March. This is the first time hearing from this member and we are happy to refund and freeze future dues for the member.

The following letter was sent 4 times to members, is posted on the website and on social media:

Hello Zone
Athletic Club Member,I would like to thank you for supporting the Club, Staff and
the Zone Community during this very challenging time. We know these are very stressful times
and many members and families are concerned about both health and financial
issues. We are here to help! The Zone Team cares that you are staying healthy and moving
your body while the Clubs are temporarily closed. Virtual Workouts: You now have access to 100’s of online workouts. The link is: ***. It’s hard for us to close the Clubs as we have a passion for
fitness and serving our members. As a reminder, while the club remains closed, we are still
responsible for many operational expenses, most importantly the financial
well-being of our employees. We will be compensating the employees to
assist them during this challenging time.Regarding your membership: Credit On Your Membership: Since this was such an unprecedented and
abrupt decision to close the Club, during this time your monthly dues will
continue to process. If you would like a credit, we will credit the one
month once our doors reopen. If you
have prepaid your dues, a credit for a 30-day period will be added to the
end of your membership. Simply
visit the Front Desk once our doors reopen and we will assist you.Freeze Your Membership: We are happy to
assist members who wish to freeze their account vs. cancelling a
membership. Simply email us at ***, state your name and home Club. We will confirm any changes on your
account.Cancel Your membership: We truly hope you
will not cancel your membership with us and elect to freeze or accept a
credit. Without membership dues,
your health club won’t exist and this would be devastating. If you feel you need to cancel, simply mail
a letter to your home club stating you wish to cancel your account, sign
and date it. We will process your
membership and send a confirmation once this is completed. Finally, we sincerely appreciate your support and thank you
for working with us during these very stressful and challenging times.Sincerely

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

#1 THE EMAIL PROVIDED IN THIS RESPONSE IS THE EXACT ADDRESS I HAVE ALREADY SENT MY REQUEST TO PUT A FREEZE ON MY ACCOUNT, YET I WAS STILL CHARGED.

#2 I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY OF THESE EMAILS AND HAVE CHECKED MY SPAM.

#3 IRREGARDLESS OF NOT RECEIVING THESE EMAILS, I DO NOT KNOW OF ONE BUSINESS (INCLUDING ALL GYMS!) WHO ARE CONTINUING TO PROCESS PAYMENTS FOR A CLOSED BUSINESS. SO I HAVE TO ACTUALLY GO INTO THE GYM IF AND WHEN THEY OPEN TO RECEIVE A CREDIT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ASKED FOR MY ACCOUNT TO BE FROZEN AND WAS CHARGED ANYWAY? ACCORDING TO MANY SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS I KNOW PERSONALLY, WHO USE THIS PROCESS EACH MONTH, IT'S VERY SIMPLE TO STOP THE AUTOPAYMENTS EACH MONTH.

#4 I HAVE SENT 2 EMAILS AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE AND AGAIN MY ACCOUNT WAS CHARGED.

SO HOW DO I PROCEED EXACTLY WHEN I HAVE ALREADY DONE AS SUGGESTED IN YOUR RESPONSE? I CAN'T BELIEVE I MAY HAVE TO CANCEL MY CARD OVER THIS. I WILL BE ASKING FOR A COMPLETE CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP AND NOT A "FREEZE" IF THIS IS THE CASE. I AM READING SO MANY INSTANCES WHERE OTHER MEMBERS ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS AND OTHER THINGS.

Regards

Hello:

Please note this complaint is contracting the WRONG fitness company regarding this matter. *** LLC is a FLORIDA based company and this complaint is for Zone Athletic Clubs which are Clubs in CO and is a CO based fitness company. The action of the *** is not a matter for Zone Fitness CLubs to manage as their billing practices are not controlled by us located in FL.

We are happy to help this individual as we work with the Zone Athletic Clubs and communicate all complaints to them. There offered members the ability to FREEZE, get a credit or cancel since March. Thisis the first time hearing from this member as we have no record of this member contacting them.

Finally, I have sent this complaint to the Zone Athletic Clubs owner in CO and they will cancel immediately for the member and issue a refund.

Thank you

Revdex.com

MY INTENTION WAS OF COURSE AGAINST THE COLORADO COMPANY AND NOT THE FLORIDA COMPANY. THE CONTACT INFO I PROVIDED WAS FOR THE COLORADO COMPANY, SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS WOULD HAVE GONE TO A FLORIDA COMPANY.

I HAVE EMAILS I HAVE SENT TO THE COLORADO COMPANY, ONE OF WHICH I RECEIVED AN AUTO REPLY/DON'T REPLY RESPONSE. NOTHING FROM THE OTHERS. I AM HAPPY TO PROVIDE PROOF. THESE WERE SENT TO 3 DIFFERENT PUBLISHED EMAIL ADDRESSES.

I AM SATISFIED WITH A REFUND FOR APRIL (NOT WAITING UNTIL THE CLUB OPENS AND TAKING A CREDIT FOR THE END OF MY CONTRACT) AND ALSO A FREEZE ON MY ACCOUNT. IF THIS CAN BE RESOLVED, THEN I WILL FREEZE VS. CANCEL. IF I HAVE TO CANCEL MY CARD AGAIN THE I AM CANCELLING THE MEMBERSHIP.

THANK YOU.

I have reviewed the response made by the business, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

My wife and I met with the owner of TruFit last Saturday, 8/10/19 and signed up for a membership. The owner said we had until Weds, 8/14/19 to cancel for a full refund. After reading reviews and complaints on the Revdex.com website I went back on the same day, Saturday, 8/10/19 to cancel our contract for a full refund, per the owner. Josh (manager) sent an email to the billing company and requested a refund of $138.98 for me.

I checked my bank account and TruFit pulled out $207.98 NOT $138.98. I have sent both Greg and Josh an email with a screen shot of my account showing the deductions. I need the help of the Revdex.com to get a full refund. I’m not sure why Josh didn’t request a refund in the full amount and I am concerned that TruFit is “playing games”.

This was in the subject of Josh’s email. I assume it is my account number with them.

ZONE Athletic Fort Collins Response • Aug 16, 2019

Hi ***,I spoke with *** today and there was an error in the way your membership was originally entered and that was what created the error in your refund. That has been corrected and a refund for your full amount paid of $207.98 will be issued to your card on file. My apologies for the discrepancy. Please allow 7-10 days for that refund to post to your account. Also, I will respond to your complaint with the Revdex.com, I would hope that you find this as a satisfactory resolution to your issue and that you will respond and close your complaint with them accordingly. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you. Yours in fitness

Approximately one year ago, maybe a little over a year ago, a few months prior to TruFit *** opening, they advertised a "pre-opening" sale with rates that were advertised to be limited in quantity (first 500 people, maybe first 1,000), which would increase after the promotion expired. One of the two options was a $250 fee, per person, to secure a $10/month membership. Since it was advertised as limited in quantity and would be going up after the promotion expired, my wife and I rushed to pay $500 for the two of us to secure the $10 monthly memberships. A little over a week ago, I was talking with some coworkers who started coming to this TruFit just a few months ago. I asked them what they pay, expecting to hear amounts higher than what I paid, since I got in a rock bottom, pre opening pricing, and all of them said they pay $10/month and that they didn't have to pay a fee to secure that rate. What? I paid $500 to get $10/month for my wife and I months before they opened and people are getting this for free almost a year later?

I emailed a manager this morning, expressing my frustration and asked if they would provide a refund. Below is the reply I received. It should be noted that the rate my coworkers received was received as part of a First Responder discount.

"Good morning ***. You are correct in receiving that rate at the time we opened. At the time we opened we did not offer 1st responder discount as we have many other corporate discounts as well now as an established business. I do not offer refunds unfortunately for past memberships on the bright side my 1st responder discount is now 15.99 and you of course are always locked in at 9.99. Thank you for being a member with me here at TruFit."

So, we basically paid them $500 up front, helping them to purchase equipment, pay their loans, etc, without having a gym to workout at for a few months while they finished it up, for a rate that people have been receiving for $0 as recently as a couple months ago.

I hope that this is resolved in a better manner than being told, "I do not offer refunds unfortunately.."

I signed up with Tru Fit and they signed me up for an "orientation" tour. It turned out to be a stick me in a corner and pressure me to sign up for their custom personalized trainer programs- it was very intimating and uncomfortable. I have never been back since- I have never used my membership. I want to cancel my membership and they won't let me. My friend has had billing issues with them as well- they double charged him on his bank account. I called the manager, Greg, at the local *** club and he will not allow me to get out of the contract even though my barcode swiper indicates thatI have never been back.

HI-TRU FIT STILL IS CHARGING ME SINCE APRIL'S CONFLICT RESOLUTION. I CALLED 3 TIMES FOR JOSH. NEVER GOT A RETURNED CALL. GREG WAS THE LAST PERSON I SPOKE WITH AND HE WANTS ME TO PUT IN WRITING WHAT IS WRONG. I ALREADY DID THIS. I AM GETTING CHARGED FOR APRIL, MAY, AND JUNE - I NEED A REFUND AND FOR MY ACCOUNT TO BE CLOSED LIKE WE AGREED.

ZONE Athletic Fort Collins Response • Jun 22, 2019

Hi ***,

I apologize that you have had trouble resolving this matter. I have cancelled your membership and have submitted a request to our billing department to issue a refund to your card on file in the amount of $156.47. That would be for April, May, and June's dues as well as the annual fee that was collected. I hope you find this as a satisfactory resolution to this matter. Please feel free to reach out to me directly is there is anything else that I can do for you.

Respectfully,

Josh M

I signed up in this gym in mid Oct 2018. I was then approached by David, the fitness manager, who offered a free advertisement session for their personal training program. Upon attending that advertisement session, David sold 8 sessions of personal training to me for $400 (each session $50). David scheduled the first one for me in a couple of weeks. I attended that session, which was kind of detrimental to my health, because a pain in my left knee started afterwards and still continues to date. Also, the trainer was supposed to email me the instructions; he did not for a few days (maybe more than a week). I contacted David, the manager, and he made the trainer email me the instructions. Overall, the quality of training was below satisfactory.

I started traveling internationally in early December until late January 2019. Now, due to immigration delays, my wife is stuck in *** and I need to travel frequently. There is no way I will be able to use the remaining 7 training sessions for which I have paid. I am not satisfied with the quality of training and I will not be able to use them anyways.

Hi ***,I just wanted to follow up with our conversation this afternoon. First of all, I just want to offer my sincere apology that this has taken so long to get resolved and I appreciate your patience in this matter. I have submitted a request to our billing department to have a refund issued to your card on file in the amount of $350.00, that should post to your account within 7-10 business days. I hope that you find this to be an acceptable resolution to this matter and please feel free to reach out to me directly if there is anything else that you need or if you ever have any issues in the future. Yours in fitness, Josh MOperations Manager

I signed up for a charter membership with Tru-Fit *** on my *** phone. The sign-up process includes a screen that clearly presents you "Contract Total," including taxes and add-ons. Yet as you move through the signing process, you're presented with a screen that asks you to sign for a "Club Enhancement Fee" which is never mentioned, nor is an amount ever listed. The screen for this fee does contain a "Preview Membership Agreement" link which takes you back to the "Contract Total" screen -- never revealing the "Club Enhancement Fee." In fact, any time during the process when you click to review your membership, there is no mention of this fee. I found out about the fee when I saw an additional $49 charge on my credit card statement that ran in excess of the costs presented as "Contract Total." Referring to a contract total that intentionally conceals a hidden fee is downright fraud. I will attach screen shots if there is a way to do so
