This is a invoice form not an estimate. Invoices don't get signed by [redacted] until the are given an invoice number.

I spoke to him yesterday. Most of his water problem is condensation. We did put a new roof on his trailer. When we pulled old roof off there were no water leaks. I have called insurance company and told him as soon as I have a claim number he can have the information.

Insurance company has been in touch with him and is coming out on Wednesday. I also spoke to one of the contractors MR. [redacted] called and he said the paper over the ridge was the only problem he saw and saw no leaks.

attached you will find a copy of a signed contract by [redacted] and [redacted]. A application for credit was also taken on June 7, 2014. [redacted] was denied credit. I then waited 7 days before invoicing the contract to give them time to cancel if they couldn't get credit elsewhere. We...

encourage our customers who are denied to go to their local bank.  On June 14, 2014 I invoiced the contract and ordered the metal. On June 22, 2014 I pulled [redacted] and [redacted] order to have it installed the next day. I put the order in the installers book waiting to talk to him the next morning. He came in that evening and saw it in his book so loaded and headed there the next morning. I get a phone call from [redacted] upset because we didn't call first, I apologized to her for the mix up. She explained they had already started the job and that they didn't have the money for it that day. I explained that we had another finance company we could try to go thru or we would work out something with them on the payment. [redacted] had already started and they had a leak. She was in agreement to go ahead with the roof and we would talk later that day or the next day about payment and that I would since if I could get them approved with the new finance company. The signed contract states they have 3 days to cancel we never heard from them and on the 7th day I ordered the materials.

In our complaint it states we do not want this company on our property.  They respond by asking us to set up a meeting with Larry N[redacted] their salesman and project manager, on our property.    We do not have any confidence in Mr. N[redacted].  Mr. N[redacted] did not respond to our request for setting up a meeting with my husband and the Code Enforcer as to a time and date. This was in September.  Mr.  N[redacted] is not going to climb a ladder to inspect the roof.  He claimed he does not go up on a roof.  Setting up a meeting with Mr. N[redacted] is pointless.
Mr.  N[redacted]'s contractor was incapable of installing this roof correctly.  He should not have taken this job if his contractor did not have the skill to do a competent job.  Which clearly he did not.  We are still waiting to see his certification. As stated in the contract: certified, insured, independent contractor.  We asked to see proof of this. No response.     We never received a call to set up a delivery date as stated in the contract.  A neighbor told us people were on our property.  The contractor had started the job without informing us.  We had requested this.  No response.    The contractor did not remove the cedar shake, had sheathed over it and applied some portion of the metal roofing.  The contract states remove cedar shake.  The contractor either did not or could not read the contract.  The contractor said he would make it right.  He tried but he did not have the skills to do so.    Everything I have seen regarding Va. Carolina Buildings Inc. does not come close to "ensuring 100% Customer Satisfaction"( as stated in their response to my complaint.)     There has been no inspection from the county.  I have called and talked to them.  Although we have been told several times that there was.  We were told that it passed inspection.  If they have an inspection report from the Accomack County Building Inspectors Office why have they not sent me a copy as I requested in March.       We paid an independent  inspector [redacted] who is certified and licensed#[redacted].  He sent us his report and  I forwarded it to Va. Carolina Buildings, Inc.  No response.  I also mailed a copy to you.      Their contractor  has been back to our property how many times?  We would not know for sure because we are never notified.  What kind of reputable company goes to a clients property without informing them?      Some of our concerns were sent in a letter in September.  There was no response.    One of the things that might ensure Customer Satisfaction would be responding to the customer.     As to a conversation with Mr. N[redacted] and also in the contract it states Repair bad wood at cost plus **%.  This was never done.  Now the metal has to be removed in order to work and replace it.      Our concerns :Exterior chalk - There should be none. Tuff Rib metal manufacturers of this metal roof, J. Peifer metal roof installer of 30 years and [redacted]  Licensed inspector all told us this.No closures - All three of the above confirmed the roof needs closures to prevent rain, insects, birds, etc. from getting under the metal panels.Dents and scratches - There are many, Tuff Rib does not warranty metal that is scratched.  According to a representative it will break down and corrode.Daylight streaming into the attic - This can be seen in [redacted]'s picture in his report. We now have pictures and video of this. The osb board is compromised and the installation was done very poorly.      I would like them to " rectify and remedy all complaints " too, as they stated in their response to the Revdex.com.  I cannot see how that can happen without removing the roof and replacing it, using a competent installer.

Review: Approx. 2nd week of July they put a metal roof on,while we were at work .when we came home I saw an issue with a flashing or cap piece.I called project manager Larry N[redacted].

that very evening, was told don't worry we will fix it. 2 weeks went by haven't heard from anyone.called again was told same thing.2 weeks went tried calling him, could not reach him.

Called back again was put in touch with office manager,Mary. I don't know last name. She assured me problem would get took care of.2 weeks later I call again and this is when I start getting excuse after excuse every time I would call every 2 weeks hoping to give them time to get material and come fix.But all I get is the metal was damaged in shipping or they sent them the wrong material. Twice I was told that they had fixed it, I told her no I just looked at it last night,So she sends someone else back out, They never called and kept us informed of what was going on. I waited called back 2 weeks later ask whats the update on fixing problem ,this is 2nd time I was told it had been fixed.I told her no I see it every day when I pull in the driveway and say to myself well didn't come today either. This has gone on for 4 month's and i'm tired of hearing excuses. The last time I talked to her was 2 weeks ago. They have been paid in full thru a loan, That I have made 4 monthly installment's on and getting ready to make a 5th . I am not being picky about place that needs working on,It's on the front of our home which can be seen from the road.Very poor customer service in my opinion !! I have called at least 10 times or more with no resolve. I NEED HELP. The piece in question was never the correct piece in size or form,I think they ran out of the correct size material and put what ever they had in it's place. Hoping it wouldn't be noticed.YOU CAN'T HELP BUT SEE IT WHEN YOU WALK UP THE SIDE WALK TO THE FRONT PORCH !! UGLY !!!!!!!!Desired Settlement: For them to come and replace what was put on with the correct material,That's all I've been asking for this whole time. For 4 month's.It don't take that long to get material and fix. This is their reputation on the line in our area. If they don't care then I want a refund in the amount to get some one else to fix it. Again we just want it fixed.

At this time, I have not been contacted by Virginia Carolina Buildings, Inc regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Regards,

Review: This company installed a metal roof on my home on May 29, 2015. I immediately noticed problems, such as daylight visible around the chimney area. I was told that was a reflection and their solution was to pack it full of material where daylight was no longer visible. An employee left an attic fan hooked up to live wires 9after telling me it was disconnected) and hung the fan on a nail in the attic. A friend of mine properly disconnected for me. They came back several times (June 5, June 11) attempting to correct problems. I would go weeks without hearing anything from them. On July 28, 2015 I observed water leaking from my range vent and bathroom vent. Marie [redacted] was contacted. her response was that she had the same problem happen. Later I would find out the contractor installed the wrong vents. this was told to me by Marie W[redacted] herself. The salesman Mark M[redacted] came out September 23, 2015 with another employee to do some adjustments. October 2, 2015 Marie W[redacted], Mark M[redacted] and an employee came out to look at the roof and try to figure out why it was getting wet inside the attic. On November 22, 2015 while in my attic I observed a fungus or mold like substance on the wood that was wet from several areas leaking. The company did send someone out on December 3, 2015. Their employee tightened the screws and cut open the paper across the ridge cap area. Also some material was removed from the ridge cap that according to two other contractors should have been left. At this point I asked Marie [redacted] for their insurance information. It took several attempts before she finally furnished it to me on January 12, 2016. I have called the Natutilus Insurance Company and am waiting on a claims adjuster to return my call.Desired Settlement: Would like for another contractor to correctly install my roof. Also any damaged caused by the leaking roof needs to be address as well as the possible fungus and mold in my attic.

Business

Response:

yes there has been problems with Mr. [redacted] roof. We are doing everything we can to correct the issues. We have a rep coming from the metal company to look at the roof on Thursday Jan. 14, 2016. Mr. [redacted] is aware of this. Part of the problem is condensation. I never said the vents were the wrong ones but they should have used the smaller ones. When Mr. [redacted] plugged a dehumidifier up in his attic, the wood dried so there fore it is leaving me to believe it is condensation. The rep from metal company will let us know for sure on Thursday.

Business

Response:

Insurance company has been in touch with him and is coming out on Wednesday. I also spoke to one of the contractors MR. [redacted] called and he said the paper over the ridge was the only problem he saw and saw no leaks.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

No offer was made to respond to. The only "offer" was an email from Marie [redacted] on January 18. At that time she stated that if I could come to Crewe and get all of my money back and that I could get someone else to put a roof on. She also left a message on my answering machine about this. I was not home that day and when I called her Tuesday morning, I was informed that the offer was only good on Monday.Virginia Carolina wants to blame the problems on not enough vents or insulation. Their salesman Mark M[redacted] sold me their product after inspecting my roof and attic. It would seem to me that if you did not have enough vents or insulation they would tell you to correct any problems before installing their product.I have spoken to the contractor Marie [redacted] called. He said they discussed several issues associated with the roof. It is true that there were not any visible leaks the day the contractor was there, but there were several areas that were wet in the attic. He said that he also told informed Marie [redacted] that evidently there are some issues with the valleys of the roof. She neglected to include that information in the reply.I am attaching the emails surrounding Marie [redacted] "offer" to me on behalf of Virginia Carolina. I have never dealt with a company like this.

Regards,

Review: We has a metal roof installed over the existing roof of our 14x70 mobile home at [redacted]. We have a problem with leaking and condensation resulting in mold and mildew on the ceiling, walls and furniture. We have contacted VACAROLINA six times with no results. We can't get them to come out to fix this and we are concerned about a possible problem with black mold.Desired Settlement: Repairs made to home owners satisfaction. Mold and mildew cleaned to a safe health standard, painting as required to remediate staining of walls and ceilings, clean or replace furniture (that can not be cleaned). If the mold and mildew can not be removed we would expect VACAROLINA to purchase home and furnishings at a price of $ 15,000.00.

Business

Response:

Mr. [redacted] called me today. I have been on vacation since someone was at his house so I have to get with them and get the pictures so I can see what is going on. It may be a condensation issue

Business

Response:

Sales person should never have told Mr. [redacted] that. It is a condensation problem. Roof is installed properly. His homeowners as already contacted me about this matter.

While the company feels that the sales person should not have said that they would do a clean-up, he did in fact say that they would and the company should stand behind their representative. We did have our home owners insurance agent come out and upon inspection they said that it was a excessive condensation problem due to the roof being installed improperly. The insurance agent said that since the damage was not accidental they could not help us.

Review: We got a quote for the a metal roof from Va Carolina Building Inc back in May. We also filled out a [redacted] loan paper for the metal roof. We was contacted by [redacted] stating that the loan was denied at that time I told [redacted] that we would not be able to get the roof at this time and we would call when we would be able to. On Wednesday 7/23/14 morning around 8:10am ten mintues after I left for work I got a phone call from my mother in law to be saying that there was people on the roof of our house. I went back room to see what was going on and I spoke with [redacted] the guy who was the foreman of the crew he said that he was dispatched by [redacted] to put a roof on our house and that it was ok. I told him no one had contacted us and that we had canceled due to not being approved for the loan to get the roof. [redacted] called [redacted] back and I spoke with her and she stated that she had ment to call me on Tuesday 7/22/14 but had not had the time and she had meant to call me Wednesday morning 7/23/14 to let me know that they would be there to put a roof on but she had got busy and had not had the time to call. I told her that wehad talked with [redacted] and said we could not do the roof at this time. I told [redacted] that [redacted] and the crew had started already and what was we suppose to do, due to us not having the loan or the money to pay for it she stated that they had a new loan company and she would try them and that she was tell [redacted] to finish the roof since they had already started and could have done more damage to the roof then we had before. I told her I was not happy about this at all cause we was going to wait to have the roof done at a later time when we had the money due to me have 8 weeks left to have our newborn. She apologized and said she was not told and if she was she could have told [redacted] not to put the roof on and if she would have had time to contact me she would have know that we didnt want it and they would have never came out. After getting off the phone with [redacted] stated that he was told to start the job and that I was notfied about them coming out and he apologized for the wrong doing of the business. I am now being told that I owe them 3995.00 dollars for the roof that we canceled. I dont feel like we should have to pay it. Then today on Monday 7/28/14 I got a call from [redacted] the saleman that came out stating that we had got approved for another loan and he would be bring us a contact out to sign. We never signed a contact saying for them to put the roof on in the first place. I dont see that we need to sign one now and dont plan on signing anything else. This is something they did on there own after we canceled. I have also contacted a lawyer who has stated not to sign or pay anything that they should eat the cost.Desired Settlement: I think that they need to write it off and we shouldn't owe them anything. And they need to stop running our credit cause it's making us look bad on credit report. This was done without of permission and we dont owe anything

Business

Response:

attached you will find a copy of a signed contract by [redacted] and [redacted]. A application for credit was also taken on June 7, 2014. [redacted] was denied credit. I have attached a copy of the paperwork that was told to us to be a estimate and ours is not dated or signed by [redacted] like the one she has attached in her email. [redacted] had called us about two or three days later and let us know that we was denied the loan I told [redacted] at that time we would not be able to go forth with it cause we didn't think our bank would approve us and that we would just wait before getting anything done but when we got the money we would call them. I did cancel it before the third day. We dont have the money to put out for the roof. When I got to our house that morning the crew and angel had already started pulling things off the roof what was we suppose to do leave the stuff undone due to there not canceling it when I spoke with [redacted] when the loan was denied. All I can say is that if anything we can only afford 25.00 dollars a month we are due to have a third child and we don't have the money that's why we told [redacted] we would wait.

Review: They installed a roof guaranteed not to leak for lifetime back on 7-25-2013...it has been leaking since then and destroyed my brand new interior sheet rock and structure with black mold accumulating..according to other contractors the roof was installed improperly..they redid the roof on dec 8 2015 but installed it improperly again according to other licensed contractors...not sure if it's leaking because it hasn't rained yet...but supposedly they was gonna file an insurance claim for the damage to my interior but refuse to give any information about the insurance company for me to follow up on..so my place is destroyed inside and they refuse to communicate with me anymoreDesired Settlement: I would like for them to install the roof properly and pay for the damage that was incurred by the faulty installation

I would like to reopen this complaint as to these facts..no one has contacted me from an insurance company claiming to represent va Carolina buildings...a third party did contact me claiming to be a third party adjuster for the supposed insurance company..they set up an appointment to look at the damage..they did not show up for that appointment and when I contacted them they responded that the file had been closed but failed to notify me of the cancellation..so the problems that still remain are the same as day one..the roof is installed improperly..I will include an estimate from a Revdex.com accredited roofing company explaining that..and my interior is still in damaged and open condition ..let me know...[redacted]

Review: I had two jobs to be done. The roof was done, and it looks fine. The siding was job two. It's Saturday July 11th, and there's been no one here to finish the work since Tuesday July 7th. There's several repairs that they agreed to do. There's an unfinished side of the house with siding missing. All my gutters are down, and my electrical boxes are dangling by the cords. The workers had a sign in the yard with their company name on it. They've removed it, so I'm assuming they are finished. I called the project manager, and he has no knowledge of what's going on. I also called the main office and they have no knowledge of what's going on. My Mortgage company has everything they need to go ahead with payment to VA Carolina Buildings, for the work. I have no issue paying for the roof job. The siding job is a mess. I would prefer to have it redone by a Revdex.com Accredited company. They left all their trash in the yard. I have taken pictures of the poor work. I will be speaking to my Mortgage company about this, as they will handle payment to VA Carolina Buildings. We welcome any Revdex.com accredited siding companies to come out and look over the work to judge for themselves. I am also attempting to get my insurance adjuster to come out and inspect the work.Desired Settlement: The roofing job is fine. We are satisfied with that. The siding job we are not. With as poor as this job was handled, we'd like to go with another company. preferably one that is Revdex.com Accredited.

Regards,

This is a follow up on the complaint filed by myself, [redacted] against VA Carolina Buildings. Their response to the complaint is that

the work is finished and that I just don’t want to pay. That’s correct. I don’t

want to pay because they are severely over charging me for poor service. The whole

ordeal has been poorly handled by their business. Including in this fax I have

the original contract, the cost invoice, and a reputable website’s estimate of

the same job they did at my residence, with a low and high price range. On the original contract the roof is clearly stated. We agreed

on that price and the job completed. The only complaint I have with the roof is

that they didn’t do what they advertised they’d do. I’m not making a huge deal about

it because I was assured the roof wouldn’t leak. I have an area on the roof

when the shingles were pushed up. There’s a good size area on my kitchen

ceiling that clearly shows leakage. They were supposed to gut out that area,

shingles and the plywood. VA Carolina Buildings stated to me that they allowed

3 plywood pieces of repair, after that the Home owner or insurance is

responsible. They did not replace that plywood or the shingles. They were right

over top of the damaged area. Now there’s a big ugly hump there, where the poor

quality of work was done. Even so, I agreed to pay the full price for the work

and I’m not going to fight the cost of the roof job. As for the siding job they

did. I’ve already sent in a complaint, reporting the poor service and work the

company gave me. But what I didn’t report is the pricing side of this. [redacted] on

the original contract the siding job cost is left blank. The reason for that

was because VA Carolina Buildings had to price the material first. I asked

multiple times from that day I signed onward, how much is this siding job going

to cost. I was assured by the project manager over and over to rest easy, because

it wouldn’t be more than what the insurance was paying. If it was, it wouldn’t

be much, and there would be a supplement sent in to get more money from the insurance

company. I have a text message to the project manager saved that states, “I

need to know what this is going to cost.” He replied, “He had to price the

materials and he would let me know.” After asking several times, not once did

anyone tell me a price. Not once. I got the price of the siding job after the

job was completed. The invoice that’s [redacted] is dated 6-9-2015. This means

that the materials were priced on that date or before. From 6-9-2015 until

7-16-2015 I was unaware of the cost of this job. On 7-16-2015, the day after

the siding job was completed, the invoice was mailed to me, of which I saw the

cost for the first time. The cost for the siding job was 5,000 over insurance

budget. If the price had been told to me when it should have been, VA Carolina

Building would not have done my siding. This is an overpriced number that the

[redacted] estimated that I [redacted] shows. I am currently calling around asking

for professional siding companies to come in and give me estimates to redo the

job. I will be including these estimates when I received them all.VA Carolina Buildings is also responsible for the glass

their sub-contractors busted out of our van. As of now we cannot find the

glass. We have checked several salvage yards despite not wanting to even go

that route. No one seems to have it. We will keep trying.Today I also spoke with [redacted] is a head of [redacted] is my insurance company that gave the quote

for my damages. Despite what the project manager of VA Carolina Buildings says,

she says that me adjuster did allow for a complete siding replacement to my

entire home. She spoke with my adjuster today in hopes of maybe they made a mistake

somehow, but no. She said that VA Carolina buildings definitely over charged. The

estimate I [redacted] clearly shows that. Also, on the estimate I [redacted], it does say

that a 15-23% markup can be added if a supervisor is there for the job. VA

Carolina Buildings has a project manager. There was no supervisor here. He only

came to my residence when I had an issue, and to complain to me, asking me why I

contacted the Revdex.com. I took several pictures of how they left

my residence unfinished and poorly constructed for over a full week. He saw the

poor quality of work and had no issues with the work.
