7/6/ [redacted] called and asked a bunch of questions regarding her septic systemShe told me it was making noises out side by the tank, she said that she had not heard these noises beforeI told her that maybe it was a problem with the diffusor at the bottom of the tank, but that it is not something we could diagnose over the phone She said that they had it pumped last yearI told her that if they had it pumped last year that it probably doesn't need to be pumped again this soonI told her I would send the owner out to do an evaluation and that the charge would be $She agreed to the charge and made an appointmentfor Monday the 13thbetween 8-At 9:on Monday the 13th I called to confirm the appointment and [redacted] said yes we were still onAt 9:Mr [redacted] called and was very Irate that [redacted] wasn't there yet, I told him that [redacted] was on his way and about 10min out he said if he is not there by 10:that they were going to cancelWhen [redacted] arrived, Mr [redacted] asked " where is the pump truck" , [redacted] told him we were just there to do an evaluation of the system like his wife orderedMr [redacted] said that they were told it was dollars to look at it and if it needed to be pumped that that would be applied to the pump.( I never once mentioned dollars or applying anything towards the pumpI told her that I was going to send the owner because I felt he was more experience than our new driver and he would come out and check the systemThats all she wanted done.) Mr [redacted] was very rude and told [redacted] that he just wasted his time coming out and that he could just leaveSo [redacted] LeftWe sent them a bill for service callI don't know what Mrs [redacted] told Mr [redacted] but obviously she didn't tell him what was discussed on the phone, when she sceduled the appointmentNow he is making up all kinds of different prices and claiming we told him things that we didn'tWe have standard prices for our services and they do not even match the amounts he is claiming we told him Mrs [redacted] call us, telling us that she had a problem with her tankThere is nothing dishonest about sending a bill for services rendered They called, we respondedI don't know of any companies still in business that will send a serviceman out to diagnose a problem for free

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The consumer had called and asked for service on aHoliday weekend, out of goodwill I waived my usual $75.00 Holiday charge. The consumer’saddress is 30 minutes outside of Farmington, the drive out and back being an hour in itself. Iworked on the septic... for half an hour. The tank was in very bad condition, which requiredadditional time on my part. I was aware of the 2nd solids tank, however, the consumer did notknow the location of the tank. An industry standard charge to locate a tank is approximately$150.00. I was paid $200.00 for my service and time, which I fully earned. No refund is due theconsumer, I had already waived the Holiday charge, and extra time out of goodwill.Anthony W [redacted] 5-­9-­2017

Our house inspector brought along A-Septic Service on our inspection date We learned during the inspection that the septic tank and one cover for a junction box needed replacement Dennis explained the issues in detail and told us what needed to be replacedWe were very impressed with his knowledge and ability to disseminate information so we were in a good position for decision making After our house purchase we hired Dennis and his company They just completed the job and we are very pleased with the resultsFrom initial assessment, bidding, acquiring permit form the town, scheduling, delivery of needed materials, nothing was left to chance Our property was left in great shape - raked, seeded with hay on topWe would hire A-again with no hesitation

I am rejecting this response because:   There was no service provided.  I rejected the service when A-1 Septic quoted one price over the phone and then tried to add on additional costs when they arrived.  There are several other complaints from Oakdale customers on [redacted] regarding the same "bait and switch" tactic.  Revdex.com should followup with the District Attorney's office Consumer Affairs Division to see if there are several more other customers in Modesto and Oakdale, in addition to the Yelp.com reviewers, who have had similar problems with A-1 Septic.  We could put an ad in the [redacted] and Oakdale Leader asking others to come forward.  What is the Revdex.com's next step.

I stand by my first response. You just can't make some people happy. As for the foul language, that never happened. Sometimes people hear what they want to hear and that is what they believe. I am sorry for that but I can't change it.

Review: Called for septic service. Told them about an air bubbling noise in the septic tank. Quoted $150 to diagnose problem. Said it may be a leach line problem. If clean out needed, $150 would be applied to clean out service of $365. Asked and repeated above for clarification. She verified that was accurate. Promised to be here between 8-10 am. When he was a no show, called and said if he wasn't here by 10:15 would cancel the service. He arrived at 10:20 am. Asked him about the service. he then said it was $150 for diagnosing problem and an additional $360 for clean out. Told him that was not what was quoted and that was a bait and switch: quote one price and then ask for more. He disagreed and said it would be an additional $365 for clean out and that the $150 was only for diagnosing the problem. It would be $515 for diagnosing problem and cleaning out the septic tank. This is a classic "bait and switch"tactic. Told him I canceled the service. He said "[redacted]" and left. Called the company. Lady answering phone denied that she said that the $150 would be applied to the clean out. Then 2 days later received a bill for $100. Called and lady said that's what she quoted us for the diagnostic service and since we canceled still owed the $100. They can't even get their lies straight. First quoted $150 applied to the clean out charge, then $150 plus clean out charge, then bllled $100. Refused to pay. This company has a history of "bait and switch" charging. Just read the Yelp reviews. By the way, called another septic company and explained the air bubbling noise. This company told me that it was normal for a Multi-flo septic tank to have the air flow and no repair was needed. A-1 septic is a dishonest companyDesired Settlement: A-1 septic service should send me letter cancelling the bill. The company should desist their "bait and switch" tactics. Revdex.com should investigate their business, license #[redacted], for similar complaints, especially from senior citizens.
