I called hour locksmith because my car was broken into and I'm not familiar with who fixes these type of issuesI explained my ignorance to this company and asked if he was able to send someone out to see if it's fixable and the agent by the name of joy said yes we will send someone out but if we have to fix the whole steering colum it will be a fee of $that's the worse case scenarioI waited on the technician for about an hour and when he arrived I said to him please look at it and make sure its fixable and let me know how much it will costThe technician responded yes sure I'm going to take a look at it and I will get back to you I then walked into my homeAbout minutes later the technician knocks at my door and said I got it runningI then asked him why wouldn't he consult with me before fixing my truck as we discussed and he said oh I had to just replace a part that was We then walked over to my truck and he showed me were the part was he fixed I then asked why was my anti lock system light on because it wasn't on before he messed with itHe then stated that wasn't a big deal the car is running and said the total amount due was I then said to him the company quoted to fix the whole steering column for you fixed one part and it's just a dollar difference? The technician became irritated and stated he was sorry for not discussing the issues with me first but that's how much it isI then stated I was calling the main office because the pricing made no sense and now there's a anti lock light on and he said u don't have to do that how about if I just charge you it became a auction for a price and I explained how unprofessional this company is and it just sounds like he was making up pricesOn my receipt you will see were the amount changed a few timesThe next day I went to the farmers market and tried to start my car and the key wouldn't moveI then called the locksmith company back and let them know how frustrating and embarrassing this is, I was months pregnant hot and stranded with two children after I just paid to get my truck fixedYes the company came back out with the same technician and his first comments to me were what did you do it was fine yesterday and I laughed and said it's pretty pathetic that u have to come back twice to do something that was supposedly done and paid forHe then walked off and looked at my truck after bamming and jiggling on my ignition and moving the steering wheel he walked back to his truck and then went back into my truck after I heard my truck start I approached my truck and he said there you go and walked awayAfter getting into my truck I observed black ziptyes and I called the company back and complained on how tacky of a job hes done and its making them look really badThe tecnician then calls right after and asked what's the problem now and I asked why was the job done so unprofessional I've never seen a company use ziptyesWe argued back and forth until finally I said im just going to file a complaint with anyone I canOn 8/8/i went out for lunch and a bank runI get lunch and again my key won't turn, so now I'm very frustrated and again I'm out with two kids stranded in the hot sunI called the company and expressed how much of a headache experience this has been and how irritated I am that my car was never really fixed I asked several times to speak to a supervisor or manager and they denied me and said we have someone on the way to youI called them at 1245pm about 140pm I call back frustrated and asked why no one has showed I explained to the rep that it's hot and I'm months pregnant her response was and im nine monthsAnother hour or two I'm calling and calling and arguing and debating with the same office repAbout I make one last call and the company says were calling the police for harassmentI then called another company by the name of 24/locksmith and the technician fixed and replaced my whole steering colum for another So I sat stranded for almost 5hours then had to pay another company and this company will testify that nothing was done to my truck by the previous company so I believe they owe me a full refund for not fixing my truck but receiving payThis company had to come out three times enough saidI also have pictures of the tacky job that was done

We went to this customer. we fixed her ignition after someone broke in. They broke all theplastic and ignition parts. I told her when we called her back that it would be about $325.00 ifwe need to change the entire steering column. That would be a worst case scenario. When thetechnician arrived over there he fixed the ignition for her. The vehicle was able to start. The next day she called and said that it didn't work and we sent a technician back out again.Again, he repaired it for her with no additional fee.We didn't charge her the original quote of $325, we charged her $280 because we didn't replacethe steering column. After that the complaints began.

Revdex.com:
My main concern was just that the original quoted price over the phone did not match the one I got in person when they arrived. I just want other people to be aware that the price given over the phone may be jacked way up when they see you in person. (said $50, jacked all the way to $225 then said will give it to me finally at $175) Best to have a spare key lying at home or something, and UBER or Lyft your way back home and get it then come back, will be way cheaper than what these people will quote you on. And also, the many different parking lots in CSUS is tricky to locate.

My company at A 24 HR Locksmith, liscense number 5030 priovided the customer a service after hours and we gave her a price based on the lock that she had on the door. Usually our lockout prices run between $85-$185. When the customer told us that she had someone else that will do it for $15 service...

fee plus labor and parts we explained to her that we can match the service fee but the labor would be additional. Our usual service fee is $29. The technician charged the customer $105, its a competitive price for a residential after hours lockout. The best we can do after reviewing the case is to do it for the minimum price of $85. If she agrees, we will refund $20. The customer can call around and get prices for an after hour lockout from a local company like J and J Locksmith and Jeff's Locksmith and see that the price is competitive and there is no overcharging. We are willing to speak with the customer and give her the discount. We would be more than happy to give her a service in the futuire. If she believes our price is too high, we recommend searching for prices with other companies. We did give her a price range

we called the costumer and explained to her the price including the breakdown. we provided her with an emergency service on Sunday and the prices that we gave her over the phone were the minimum prices. when the customer called and complained about the price we credited her $85 therefor the total...

price she paid end up to be $64she agreed that this will satisfied her.

The customer they are referencing who "called around" to other places and quoted a $15 service charge from another business was not me. My phone was dying; I called the first place I could find with a local area code. I called and asked for a price, and they said it's a $15 service charge, and then labor costs. Since I did not mention ANY other locksmiths or prices, one must conclude that the service charge price is indeed $15, not "$29"....unless they randomly quote lower prices to random customers. The "labor" took 30 seconds and tech was 5 minutes away anyways. I understand that they don't wish to lower their prices, but to outright lie about my experience and my conversation with the dispatcher just proves how unethical this company is. That being said, how can something be "after hours," when the company itself is named A 24 Hour Locksmith? I was not told of ANY extra charges for it being "after hours." I am grateful for the technician, Jesse, because I personally thought he did a good job, and he doesn't set the prices. My complaint goes directly to the owner who sets the prices, and then lies about what transpired. I will accept the $20 reimbursement, but I will not remove my [redacted] review or Revdex.com review, because if I had not stood up for myself various times, I would have been charged $145.00 for a literal 30 second job. I am trying to prevent this from happening to other people who were in as desperate situations as I was. One would reasonably come to the conclusion that a business that receives approximately $290.00 per hour would be able to afford a refund and keep a customer, but clearly money is the more important factor for this business, not ethical decision-making or fairness. Thank you to the Revdex.com for facilitating this--despite the company's refusal to see how they were in the wrong. Please keep my review of this business public on the Revdex.com.

I am rejecting this response because: the business did come out and fix the problem after they were notified about my compliant. They made no contact with me prior to resolve any issue. I compromised on repairing the door although was recommended by contractors not to accept anything less then a new door due to damage done. I do have to have another man make alterations in order to make it to the standards of the other door. Also they were charging me for things they should not have and the technician was making numbers up because the office was "closed". I would never ever recommend this company to anyone and would make sure everyone I knows stays clear. They were extremely unprofessional.

The refund was issued that day, but after checking today it seems there was an error and the customer was not refunded. Today on March 2, 2016 we did issue a refund of $74.00 and the total she was charged for the lock out was $130.00. In the beginning she was charged $204.00 which we have an invoice signed by her for this amount. If you have any questions please give me call to resolve this issue.

Review: Last week I lost my keys. Saturday Apr 23 called in morning for emergency vehicle locksmith service and told them I needed ignition changed because I was concerned someone had my vehicle key and could just start and take vehicle. Technician showed up, I explained I needed my ignition changed, he said no problem, and quoted me nearly $400. I balked and told him I would give him the $20 fee for coming out but not $400. He called his boss then price changed to $250. Even though this was still a lot I agreed, and he made new key, claiming, after being directly asked "did you change the ignition", he said "yes, I changed the code." I said "the old key will no longer work", and he replied "no." I paid the $296 (other misc previously undisclosed surcharges were added) and he left. About two hours later, I came across a backup copy of my old vehicle key. I figured I better make sure it didn't work, but when I went to try it, it fired right up. I called the company to complain, and manager gave me a bunch of excuses like that the machine had not worked. He then told me that "sometimes the vehicle's ignition computer still has all of the old codes in it". I told him I was going to call [redacted] immediately and ask them about this. I called [redacted] told me tha everything they had said was BS. They said there is no ignition computer in a 2000 pickup truck, locksmiths can't change any codes, all they can do is make keys that work for the existing ignition. They flat out said that "there is no such thing as a place old codes would exist." I then called company back, this time secretary said no manager was working this day so as I began to explain to her my complaint, the technician pulled up (presumably boss had called him). He attempted to lie and bluster his way through when I confronted him on specific lies he had told, he tried to blame his equipment, and he said he was trying to do me a favor because to replace the ignition would cost a lot of money" (as opposed to, say, just getting patently ripped off, right?) I complained that was the whole point of why I hired them and that he had looked me in the eye and told me he had changed the codes, which is still another lie. I told him I didn't want anything else from him because I didn't trust them and felt they had no integrity, and I told him to leave, which he did. I then went to [redacted] and got the ignition actually changed, and it was less than $250, which was not only the correct service I requested, but also probably the first time in history a dealership repair shop has been cheaper than an alternative.Desired Settlement: In a normal universe, I wouldn't even have to ask for my money back, they would have been ashamed of themselves and just offered it when I busted them on their bt. These people, however, are dishonest businesspeople, so I am under no illusion that they are going to do a damn thing except perhaps come by and key my vehicle someday or try to break into my house as revenge for filing the complaint. I'm not so worried about the latter though, since I have an alarm system provided by real comp

Review: I paid for the replacement of my ignition cylinder for my 2001 [redacted] Sequoia. A technician did come out and replace the part, but they installed it incorrectly. My car now permanently thinks a key is in the ignition and will not let me lock my doors. I have called several times and I keep getting the run around. They say they will send someone out to fix it, but day after day no one comes out.Desired Settlement: I need them to come out and correctly finish the installation!

Review: I was locked out of my apartment and my boyfriend and I called the number [redacted] from the website [redacted]. They first quoted us that the service call was going to be $15 and that the lock service was going to be at least $35. Another number then called us to verify our location and the man called us several times saying he was halfway there and 10 minutes away. But in reality he took a whole hour to arrive. When the man arrived he was dressed in a regular blue shirt and jeans. His car was dark blue and had no logo whatsoever. He told me that they had it all wrong on the phone and that the service call was actually $35 and the service for the lock on the door was $139. I reluctantly accepted after much debate. He then took my card and my Driver License. He then shaded the debit card on the receipt which includes my card number, expiration date, and my name. He also wrote down my license number on the receipt. The total ended up being $204. I was really upset about the price and ended up calling the company again and the secretary told me that I was charged the way I was, because picking a lock is more expensive than replacing the lock. I then asked to be directed to the manager. He supposedly felt bad for the inconvenience of the man being late so he convinced me that the service will be reduced to $130 and that next time I can get the service for free. I then decided to google their website and turns out that their address ([redacted]) is a nail shop. We then called the manager back that we felt like we had been scammed after calling a local locksmith that said that A 24 Hour Locksmith is a scam and to report it. I then called my [redacted] to see if there was any way to get my money back from this fraudulent transaction. They said that they could only refund the money I was originally quoted ($15 service call and $35 for the lock) and they recommended that I file a complaint with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I would like to get my refund back and I want this "company" to be put to an end.

Review: I accidentally locked me and my 3 year old daughter outside of our home last night. It was getting dark, and my phone was almost dead. Due to my own irresponsibility, the only spare key was inside the house. I was desperate and scared; I didn't even have my car keys on me. I called "A 24 Hour Locksmith" after doing a quick Google search, hoping my phone didn't die. A dispatcher answered immediately, and told me there's a $15 service charge to come out, and the rest of the cost depended on labor. Then, he told me the locksmith would call me within 2-5 minutes. After 15 minutes waiting outside with my daughter, I didn't receive a call, so I called back and got another dispatcher, who said she would have him call me right away. Luckily, he DID call me, and said he was 5 minutes out. I told him where I was, and to look for me if my phone died. He said he would. He showed up in a green Jeep with no labeling or stickers on it. He had a passenger, who ended up to be his brother. He introduced himself to me or my daughter, shook my hand, and took a look. He said the lock was pick-proof, and he would have to use the airbag to open it. Then he quoted me the fee: $130, plus the service fee = $145. I was absolutely in shock, but had no way to say no, as my phone had already died, and my daughter and I were locked out of our home & car. He ended up bringing it down to $105 after military and student discounts; I'm not a student or military, so he was "helping" me out. Anyways: he took out a little airbag device, put it in my door, pumped it up like a blood pressure monitor, and popped it open. It literally took less than 30 seconds. This is extremely overpriced and this company took full advantage of a single mom locked outside in the dark with her toddler.Desired Settlement: I would like a full $105 refund, or at least a fair market price of the time and effort put in to open my house door. I think this company should be required to make changes to their policy. It is unethical to charge such extreme prices to people in desperate situations.

Review: Being locked out of my car unexpectedly, I googled some locksmith businesses to help me with my dilemma. I called this company and after asking me about my car and year, they quoted me $50. So I was under the impression that it would be around that price, so I complied. Well when the guy arrived, he quoted me $225! Said that the phone quote was a minimum. Now, if the person on the phone told me that it was going to be that much for a quick service like this, I would have NOT done it. Then he "knocked" it down to $170, but it was still 340% over the initial quoted price. Like, please, tell me the closer range from the beginning?!?! Now about the service, the locksmith was quick in arriving and completing the service. Which was a shame, because if you couple that service with an honest price, imagine how awesome business would be for them? If they were HONEST in telling me that this was the price, then I would not have any complaints, but the fact that they did this once they showed up makes me angry! I was under the assumption that the service would cost $50. Okay, $60 or $70, I understand since $50 is the minimum. But OMG! I am pissed that they would jack it up to such an exorbitant amount. I only wish they would be honest in the beginning, that is all!Desired Settlement: First of all, I called back and they promised to knock the price down to $129, which I am waiting on (I see that they charged me $170 right now on my card, but the guy on the phone said that a modification will appear on my card by the end of this weekend, so we'll see) I am a broke college student and all I want is greater awareness of this deceptive practice.

Review: Locksmith 1. gave a 'run around' fix to a problematic door handle not engaging 2. key jammed in lock 3. made it challenging to get them to return

I called the locksmith after coming home and finding my back door open. I had planned to go on vacation soon and figured I better have the deadbolts changed.

I noticed that the door handle lock also was not working properly. I would close the door and easily pull it. The 'tongue' was not fitting in the door siding "jam".

The locksmith seemed very professional. He presented his business license and did not interfere with anything going on except for his work.

He did however, tell me that the door handle was not a problem and demonstrated how to close the door, jiggle the handle and have the tongue fit into the groove. So he did not work on that.

He then re-did the dead-bolts.

Upon leaving he told me that if I had any problems I could call and he would return as soon as he could.

That evening, I was leaving out my front door, and closed the front door. I tried to lock it and I could not get my key out of the door. I worked on it a bit and then thought I better call him back because this was a major problem.

I called him and his receptionist answered and said he would come by after the visit he was on. I waited about ten minutes and called again and got the same story from the receptionist. I did this about 5 or more times and finally the receptionist said that another locksmith would handle it for him and told me another person to call.

My neighbors were walking by - two very nice women neighbors and saw me sitting outside my front door. One offered to use her "Chinese" lock skills and went to work at getting the key out of the lock. A few minutes later she was successful and pulled the key out She suggested using WD40 which I did and did not have a problem with the lock since then.

Weeks later the door handle lock completely did not work. I called another locksmith to come. He showed me that the plate on the side where the tongue fits into the wall was off by at least 1/4". He questioned me on whether I checked this after the last locksmith left. And I had not.

A couple of months later. My front door was unlocked completely when I came home. (It was shut but both locks were unlocked). I have been double locking doors for a while and it is possible but unlikely I missed that in the morning.

Yesterday I came home and found an object which had not been in my condominium in the silverware drawer. I have not had any company here at all since all of this has occurred.

I am a single woman without a partner at the moment and security is an issue. That is why I called the locksmiths to begin with.Desired Settlement: If they choose to do anything, I would hope they could really secure this place. It does not seem like it ought to be that difficult or too hard. Unfortunately, I think that means new locks for all the different doors. Personally though I don't trust this particular company so I would prefer if I could select a better locksmith to do this work and have them pay for it.

Initial Business Response

This customer did not paid for new locks or securing the place. all we did is re key 4 locks for her for the low amount of 98$ (including labor and service fee!). she only asks us to re key her locks and she new that it does not mean securing the place by any way. a re key only mean we changing the old key to a new one so the old key will not work anymore. We did not touch her locks or change anything on the security she had before. if she want we can come and secure the place or change the locks but she will need to pay for it because it is a whole new and different service. when our technician was there he saw that she have some personal issues like paranoia and that was why we offer her securing the place but she only wanted a re key and she didn't want to pay for any other service.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Because he did not address the complaint of not returning to the site, he did not address the complaint of lowering my initial complaint that the back door handle lock did not work, and of all things he wrote the word "paranoia" in his statement. He ought to have his head examined. I have less trust of locksmiths than ever before and it has nothing to do with sane paranoia.

Final Business Response

Like I said in my old response I did not change any lock for this customer only REKEYD them so I have nothing to do with the fact that the lock is not working, especially because it did work before I left. If the customer want to replace the lock we can do that but there will be additional costs like I said many times before.

The price that I charged her was below the minimum and did not contain any new lock.

Review: I own a salon which was broken into and called this company out to fix the lock that was damaged. I asked for a metal protector plate on the outside to hopefully deter from another break in. Well the technician mis-aligned it 3 times drilling multiple holes in our door trying to get it right. I called for management to come out twice and no one showed up to look at the damage of the door. I had to go and try to find bolts to block the holes until I can replace the door the company damaged. I have been tying for over 12 hours to get this resolved and the company has no care about resolving this issue. My landlord will require me to replace it in the condition it is due to this company.Desired Settlement: I would like the door that was damaged replaced.

Business states that they have sent a different technician out to resolve the problem and fix the issues with the door. Customer paid our technician and the issue was resolved. Company would have appreciated if the customer would have given the business the opportunity to remedy the situation before going to the Revdex.com.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: the business did come out and fix the problem after they were notified about my compliant. They made no contact with me prior to resolve any issue. I compromised on repairing the door although was recommended by contractors not to accept anything less then a new door due to damage done. I do have to have another man make alterations in order to make it to the standards of the other door. Also they were charging me for things they should not have and the technician was making numbers up because the office was "closed". I would never ever recommend this company to anyone and would make sure everyone I knows stays clear. They were extremely unprofessional.
