As I read the reviews before me, how really stupid of us NOT to have done this in the beginning. ATTENTION - ANYONE MOVING - sell all your non-personal items and buy new unless you are following the moving truck from your old location to your new location and that maybe your family and friends are moving you.
We also hired A to B Movers last year and it took 3 weeks and 2 days from [redacted] to [redacted] for us to get our items (some missing, damaged or broken (we packed and boxed our items ourselves with tons of bubble wrap of course). The price also doubled the day of the move, which we were already committed to. We had no idea it was going to take that long, no idea where our items were stored (water stains on 3 year old set of mattress and box spring. When trying to contact the original person who we were in contact with, was also trying and frustrating. She was either not around, messages not returned or someone hanging up on us, or being told one thing and then another.
On delivery day, the movers dragged some of our furniture (rattan legs on furniture was split and broken, trying to give us other peoples ' items, and then not having some of our own items (that were listed on the item sheet, what a joke) just became even more frustrating. They arrived approximately 4 pm and left approximately 9:30 pm, We could not go through the 50 plus boxes or really check any of my items because the so called mover in charge had me mark off my belongings coming through the door (which were numbered by the moving company the day of the move) to match the number on the itemized inventory sheet they supply, that I did not get a chance until the next day to really look at our furniture. As we began to unpack and really look at our items and furniture, that we unfortunately started finding items broken, stained furniture, broken furniture and realizing that we were still missing some items other than the ones we asked the moving guy about as they checked the truck for our large patio table that was missing, that we started taking pictures of everything.
After an email was sent to the original contact at A to B about all these problems, she said we had to go through their Claims Company. And what did this get us. Our claim was settled for an insulting amount of $144.00.
Then it took from the end of December 2014, their Claims Company received our notarized paperwork that we settled for that amount , (really had no choice) what a joke, they fax it over to A to B, until April *, 2015 when we finally received the above amount check from A to B Movers. How are we, the consumer, without all the legal fees, are we protected by companies that have no regard for the business they are in as far as these movers not taking care of our contents that we entrusted them to do. Sometimes you just have to be DONE and move on, but hopefully learn a big lesson.
From August *, 2014 pickup from our home in [redacted], to delivery at our home on August **, 2014 to our insulting claim agreed on the end of December 2014 to just recently, April *, 2015. How are these people still in business?
SELL YOUR STUFF AND BUY NEW will save you money and fewer headaches.

CUSTOMER WAS INITIALLY GIVEN A BINDING ESTIMATE BASED ON THE INFORMATION THAT SHE PROVIDED TO THE SALES REP. THERE IS NEVER ANY PRESSURE WHEN SIGNING OUR CONTRACTS EVERY CUSTOMER HAS AMPLE TIME TO READ THEM, ASK QUESTIONS IF NECESSARY AND EVEN HAS THE OPTION TO CALL THE OFFICE IF THERE IS AN ISSUE....

OUR PRICES ARE BASED ON EITHER CUBIC FOOT, WEIGHT OR BY THE HOUR. WE CAN ONLY LEGALLY CHARGE YOU FOR THE SPACE YOU USED, THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF YOUR ITEMS OR THE AMOUNT OF TIME USED TO COMPLETE YOUR MOVE. I DO HOWEVER, APOLOGIZE TO THE CUSTOMER IF SHE FEELS AT ANY POINT THAT SHE WAS TREATED UNFAIRLY OR IN AN AGGRESSIVE MANNER. I DID ADDRESS THIS SITUATION ON THE DAY OF THE MOVE AND WITH COMMUNICATION WITH [redacted] OF THE COMPANY I WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL DISCOUNT TO THE CUSTOMER ON THE SPOT. IT WAS NEVER AGREED UPON THAT THE CUSTOMER WOULD PAY UPON DELIVERY IN THE FORM OF A BANK CHECK. WE ONLY ACCEPT UNITED STATES POSTAL MONEY ORDERS AND CASH UPON DELIVERY. THIS IS STATED IN EVERY EMAIL, VIA TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS AND IN HER CONTRACT AS WELL. CUSTOMER COMPLETED THE CONTRACT SO THAT SHE COULD RECEIVE DELIVERY BY A CERTAIN DATE AND LATER ON DECIDED THAT SHE NEEDED 30 DAYS FREE STORAGE. THE DISPATCH DEPARTMENT SENT THE SHIPMENT BECAUSE THE PAPER WORK STATED THAT SHE WAS READY FOR DELIVERY. THE CUSTOMER WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO RECEIVE HER SHIPMENT WITHIN THE WINDOW ALLOTTED. AS PER COMPANY PROTOCOL WE WILL PLACE THE ITEMS IN STORAGE IN THE CUSTOMERS' NEW STATE. WE THEN OFFER THE CUSTOMER THE OPTION OF REDELIVERY (WHICH HAS AN ADDITIONAL COST), OR FOR HER TO SATISFY THE BALANCE WITH THE COMPANY. IN RETURN SHE WILL RECEIVE THE INFORMATION, LOCATION AND KEY FOR HER TO OBTAIN HER ITEMS. THIS WAS DONE AND THE CUSTOMER HAS NO ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS. HER ITEMS ARE NOW IN HER POSSESSION.

I AM THE [redacted] OVER HERE AT A TO B VAN LINES. JUST FOR CLARITY, WE ARE FORMERLY KNOWN AS EXPERIENCED VAN LINES THAT IS OUR LEGAL NAME. OUR DBA IS A TO B VAN LINES. THE ENTITY THAT GOVERNS OUR BUSINESS DEEMS THIS TO BE LEGAL. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH [redacted] ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO NO AVAIL....

I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO CONTACT HER OR PROVIDE HER SOME ASSISTANCE. I AM STILL TODAY TRYING TO CONTACT HER. SHE HAS YET TO RETURN MY CALLS, OR RESPOND TO MY EMAILS.  AS FAR AS INVENTORY GOES: IN TOTAL AS PER HER ESTIMATE SHE HAD 34 ITEMS TO TAKE UP 300 CUBIC FEET AT A GUARANTEED RATE OF $3.15. JUST BY HER OWN ADMISSION SHE STATES THAT SHE HAD AN ADDITIONAL 40 ITEMS. HOW CAN YOU EXPECT TO PAY THE SAME PRICE WHEN YOU HAVE DOUBLED THE ITEMS AND INCREASED THE VOLUME. THE FINAL DISPUTED PRICE ENTAILS:
2ND PICK-UP CHARGE
ACTUAL BILLING FOR HER VOLUME
STORAGE CHARGES SINCE 12/**/2013
WHILE TIME AND EFFORTS HAVE BEEN PUT FORTH TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE COMPANY, HOW ABOUT WORKING WITH THE COMPANY TO OBTAIN HER ITEMS. AS MUCH AS I WOULD LOVE TO ACCOMMODATE THE CUSTOMER IT SEEMS AS IF THE SUGGESTION IS FOR US TO TAKE A LOSS. I JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT [redacted] WOULD LIKE US TO DO AT THIS POINT.

Review: I schduled my move for 3/**/13 with A to B Van lines, I was guranteed a 3 person crew to help me move, at $90 per mover, only 2 movers showed up the move took close to 5 hours. if they send less movers the move takes longer and they bill the customers more $. In the process, my bedroom bureau was dropped on its side and it cracked. After reporting it to their insurance "NCM" claims in May and providing them with all the documention, I had to send th bureau out to be repaired it cost me over $500, they are offering me a $45 settlement, which I completly disagree with.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed the full repair amount. Both my mother and sister were outside and saw the movers drop the bureau. I had to sent the bureau out to be repaired because the damangae was getting worse. I dont think I should have to settle and accept a $45 check for them for somehting that cost me over $500 to fix.

Sincerely,

Review: On 06-** A to B vanlines did a move from Bristol CT to Fayetteville NC. I was quoted $1200 for 491 sq feet & 51 pieces which I had paid $200 deposit. After the truck was loaded I was told I had used 691 sq feet and had 84 pieces which was $6.60 more per sq foot and the cost was $3900. I explained I could not pay and the foreman stated if you tip $300 I will lower it to $2900. I gave $250 tip all the money I had and $1000 check. I was told I would need to pay $1700 in cash on delivery. On 06-** I called to complain to mgr [redacted] about price and she was appalled how the foreman acted and said she would talk to the owner about a discount. On 07-** I called back, spoke to [redacted] who stated she was still waiting to hear back from the owner but thought owner was giving me $100 discount. I told her that I was dissatisfied in company and should pay near quoted price. On 07-** I called and spoke to [redacted] about discount and was told she would confirm with owner and get back to me by end of day. I called back at 4:55 and was told by [redacted] that end of business was 6 pm and she would get back to me and she hung up. She never called me back.On 07-** I called and spoke to [redacted] and confirmed I would pay $1600 instead of $1700. I asked when the drivers would be delivering my belongings and was told Wed 07-** and they would call 6 hours ahead of time. Day *- 2:30 Pm driver called that delivery would be 4:30 pm, showed at 6:30, did not answer cell phone. When I asked what happened he said the truck broke down, got someone to help fix truck and deliver stuff who did not work with company (did not have 2 years experience, criminal background as stated in contract and was allowed in home w/ 2 women w/ children.) My items were delivered in the rain, 4 items broken, 4 items damaged from tape and given a bogus claim dept e-mail.Desired Settlement: Refund of money over $1200, Paid $2800 Money for damaged & broken items

Business

Response:

I would like to first take the time to address the amount of cubic footage. you originally were estimated at 491 cubic feet if it went up a few feet then that understandable but no where in the contract does it state you closed at 691 cubic feet you were provided with a binding cost of service based on what you actually had. When my [redacted] spoke with you she can only go over what you tell her but it goes by what you actually have and sometimes furniture is bigger or heavier. Now on to the price per cubic feet. It started at 3.15 per cf and stayed at 3.15 per cf. No where in the contract does it state that you were charged $6.60 per cf extra I have the contract in front of me and it clearly states 3.15 per cf. As per the foreman I do extremely apologize about that he is no longer with our company. As for the delivery the driver can NOT answer the phone because he is driving. Secondly if he arrived late it was probably due to traffic as thi s is a transportation move those things do happen and again I do apologize about that. As for the things delivered in the rain I apologize that the weather didn't hold up but we deliver rain hail sleet and snow I have no control over that. The claims email has always been the same as well as we provide a phone number as well. Again I apologize things didn't go as planned sometimes things do happen.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I was quoted 490 sq feet at 3.15 per foot which equaled $1234.81 after $308.70 discount. None of the paperwork at move shows how much sq footage was used to amount to the $2900 price. I was overcharged and had items broken and ruined at delivery. A to B van lines has not resolved that issue with me or thier insurance company [redacted]

I was quoted $1234. After the items were loaded on the truck I was told the amount would be $3600. I did not have the money but the foreman made a deal with me to pay $2900 and $300 tip. I am not not happy with your company and believe I should be returned the amount over the quote which is $1666.

Review: On 8/**/2013 I had furniture and personal belongings moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida under contract ticket # [redacted].

One of the items a leather platform bed was disassembled in order to move item from my house. (harware was bagged and taken by the driver) . The leaather platform bed was received disassembled and the leather covering was ripped in two different locations and the hardware needed to re-assemble the bed was missing , rendering the platform bed useless. I have now the mattress on the floor.

I contacted the movers and I was told they were going to try to locate the hardware but after about a week they told me to file an insurance claim with their insurers ( National Claim Management)which I did on Oct [redacted], 2013. The claim # is[redacted].

I have tried to get an up date but no one answer the registered phones even after repeated messages which I have left on their voice mail at ###-###-####. I need to have my bed repaired and missing hardware replaced if not I would like to be compensated in order to replace my bed which estimated replacement cost is $1200.00

Thx [redacted]Desired Settlement: Repair and or replacement of leather platform bed if not possible payment of $1200.00

Review: I hired AtoB Van Lines (AKA Experienced Van Lines) on June [redacted] without doing much research on the company. I hired them for a full pack and move from Cambridge, MA to Fort Lauderdale, FL. The pickup occurred on July [redacted] as scheduled and "[redacted]" did the packing and moving. The delivery was slated for Monday August [redacted]. This never happened and the company screened my phone calls and emails all day on August [redacted] and [redacted]. On Tuesday August [redacted], I called from the management office in my building and "[redacted]" of AtoB answered on the first ring. After apologizing, she put me through to the supervisor, "[redacted]," who promised the shipment would be delivered in 2-3 business days. I confirmed with [redacted] that I would receive my belongings before the end of the day on Friday and she agreed. Today, [redacted] said their driver was sleeping, then out on another delivery, then would call me during 1-3pm. The driver never called. I spoke with [redacted] and [redacted] three more times this afternoon and they continued to string me along. [redacted] promised to call before 7pm, which she did not do. My last interaction was with [redacted] at 6pm who said she was going home for the night, and that I would not be receiving my shipment, but that she would leave a note for [redacted] to call...which did not happen. It is clear that they are lying to me, and hopefully they are not stealing from me. Their business appears on the Revdex.com website as created July *, 2013...AFTER I hired them. A moving company with the exact same address, "Experienced Van Lines" has over 65 complaints in the past three years. It seems as though they re-branded to avoid consumers being able to detect their unethical service.Desired Settlement: They have over $50,000 of clothes, belongings, and furniture. I am living with nothing and sleeping on the floor of an empty apartment. I want: 1) To have my order delivered 2) Without having to pay the remaining $600 that I am supposed to pay them COD 3) and there should be some restitution of some kind putting me through the increased expenses, stress, and discomfort of living like a squatter in an empty apartment. Please let me know if you can help. My life is turned upside down right now because of this joke of a moving company.

Response:

At this time, my complaint, ID [redacted] regarding A to B Vanlines has been resolved. After filing a police report, it took them an additional 6 days to deliver my belongings (24 days total), with no contact with the company along the way. I am not surprised they did not respond to the Revdex.com investigation.

(By clicking "OK", your complaint will be closed as Resolved.)

Sincerely,

Review: First I was underquoted by almost $2,000 even though I was quite specific in all of what I was moving. I told what pieces of furniture I had and even gave some measurements on some pieces so I would get an accurate quote. After 8 hours of movers getting my belongings into the truck (and it was very dark out) what choice did I have then to pay the extra money. Second, I had a 12% discount on the initial quote and they 'submitted my request' to get that same discount on the overage but I will not hold my breath that I will ever see that money. Third and most importantly- I was told my belongings would be here in FL for me on Jan*. Come Jan [redacted] no one calls me, no one has answers, they keep saying call back and the [redacted] is not answering. Same goes for the following week. Phone call after phone call and argument after argument no one would even tell me that my stuff had not even left NY. They arrived 13 days LATE!!! The [redacted] has no accountability. She lies and kept telling me my stuff was leaving when it was not. The driver told me they weren't going to leave until Feb. but we kept bothering them. Now I paid up (no discount for the initial 12% off and no discount for how AWEFUL the service was). I had to pay a lot of money to get me and my family of 5 though living in a home with nothing- air mattresses, towels, clothes, etc. It is a good thing I didn't get a hotel those first few days since I had no idea what was in store for me because I wouldn't have been able to afford it. Forth complaint is that I have someone else's box and 1 of my boxes is missing. I emailed the [redacted] about it and have heard nothing back.Desired Settlement: I want my overage charge of $1,916 refunded. I was quoted $2,934 and they charged $4,850. They did not fulfill the services getting me my belongings even close to the date they said they would deliver it in, especially given the fact that I spent a fortune buying stuff for 2 weeks that I already owned that was on the truck! And now I have a missing box!

Review: On September **, 2013, I placed a reservation for a move of a few items from an apartment to a home on the same street spaced approximate 1000 feet apart. The move was scheduled for the morning of Saturday, September **, 2013 at 8:00AM. A confirming voice mail from the firm the day before never provided the pickup time but the pickup time was confirmed on the day the reservation was made to be 8:00AM. I waited for three hours and was promised a truck would arrive at 8:00AM on Saturday, September [redacted] and had cancelled a very important engagement that morning, expecting that the truck and three movers would arrive promptly. I wait for three hours and called several times to get a response and an expected time of arrival for the truck and movers. The company never replied. I refuse to do business with a company that is unable to keep it's commitments, lies, never returns phone calls, or responds to voice messages days after the call was made (e.g., a call to confirm delivery on the Saturday the reservation was made was returned the following Wednesday!) and already has an F rating with the Revdex.com. I have cancelled the service as of 11:15AM on Saturday, September **, 2013. At that time, I have not yet heard from the company!Desired Settlement: I want a prompt return of any amount taken from my Debit Card for a service that was never delivered and was cancelled. At the time of this complaint, it is $50.00. However, if after posting this complaint, the company decides to bill me for any amount of the fees for the moving service which was never delivered (I cancelled with the firm just prior to listing this complaint), then I want a full refund of that amount as well!

Sincerely,

Review: Negotiated a move with AtoB Vanlines. We spoke and she gave me a contractual estimate of $994.50 with a cubic footage of 300 feet. It was explained that on the day of the movers would break down furniture as directed. It was explained and agreed that this would help save space on the moving van. All furniture was eligible for disassembly. [redacted] also communicated that the delivery window would be 3 to 5 days. This was a large reason in my choosing this company as opposed to another moving company. The day of the move the movers failed to break down any piece of furniture. this resulted in the cubic footage to be much larger than the estimated size. this expanded my price on the overall move to approx. $1400. upwards of $500 above the agreed upon price. this was done without my consent. They picked up my items on 11/**/2014 at 8:00AM. I called A to B Vanlines on Friday 12/*/2014 to inquire on the delivery status. I was told the estimated time of delivery from pick up is actually 3 to 7 days. and that I would hear a phone call from them or the driver 12 to 24 hours prior to delivery. I did not hear from them and called them again on Saturday 12/*/2014. I was told that the delivery window was narrowed to either Sunday or Monday delivery (12/* or 12/*) and the driver would again give me a call. I again received no call and my items we're not delivered. I called them again on 12/*/2014 to inquire on the delivery date. I was told the driver should have called me and he should be in the state of Florida. I asked for some form of actual concrete delivery date and they could not supply it, they just told me I should have it sometime and that they would try and figure out what the delay was by 5pm. I received no call. I called on 12/**/2014 to inquire again and was told the truck was held 2 days for DOT. this was the 1st time this was communicated. as of writing this there as been no further communication on delivery date and I haven't received my items yet.I feel as if Ive been manipulated at every step.Desired Settlement: I would like a settlement of parts.1. compensation for the varying difference in cubic footage due to the movers failing to disassemble furniture as was communicated during initial conversations.2. a concrete delivery date and time 3. a guarantee of no further monetary fines or surcharges as this has been entirely the fault of A to B Vanlines and how they over packed a trailer above the maximum tonnage.

Review: My Husband contacted the company on Tuesday June **,2014 in reference to moving from New York to Florida. He stated to the representative all of the items that would be transported as well as stated that we live in a small building that has four apartments and steps. There are a total of 34 steps in the building. He was given a quote for $897 which he was told included a $40 charge for the steps. The quote was affordable for us so we agreed to accept their service. A $200 deposit was paid based on the agreement that we would be paying $897. The movers arrived at the specified date and time and the Foremen began counting the four steps outside of the building as a flight of steps and continued counting the "flights" of steps. Once inside of my apartment he told me that the total cost would be $1,560 instead of the $897 that we were previously quoted. He began verbalizing measurements of the boxes and plastic containers in which the company was aware was apart of my inventory list. I expressed to him that he does not have any measuring device to accurately show me proof of these measurements that he was stating was the cause in the change of the charge. We could not afford the charge of $1,560 that he was stating the job would cost therefore I declined the service. I contacted the Foremen about an hour after him leaving to discuss the return of my deposit in which he did not answer or return my call. I waited until Monday and contacted the company. I spoke with a [redacted] who expressed that I should have taken the $1,560 when it was offered to me because she spoke with her boss and the job would actually cost $1,900. She expressed that they would be willing to come back out and perform the service for $1,900. That price was not affordable for us and I again declined their service and asked if I could be refunded the $200 deposit. I was informed that I would receive a call back informing me as to if the deposit could be refunded because the deposits are non-refundable. I did not receive a call back on Monday evening, I called Tuesday morning and I was informed again that I would receive a call back that evening with a response in which I never received the call. I waited all day on Wednesday and I did not receive a call from the company. I called them on Thursday morning and I was asked to call back after 2:00 pm to receive an answer regarding whether or not I would be refunded the deposit. I called back at 4:00 pm and I was informed that because the movers came and I declined the service the deposit would not be refunded. I do not agree with their decision because I only declined the service because it was not the service amount that I agreed to prior to the deposit being paid. If they were honest about their service price during the initial call from my husband I would not have agreed to hire them for service because the price was not affordable for us. The deposit was paid based on the price that was quoted to my husband and it was affordable for us. A service was not performed for us and I would like the deposit to be refunded.Desired Settlement: I would like the $200 deposit to be refunded.
