in regards to this complaint from work completed 10/18/Customer had existing prefinished hardwood flooring with deep bevels and existing gapping between boardsThe existing flooring was original to the house, covered the kitchen area and was installed underneath all the kitchen cabinetsWe did not install this flooring nor did the customer ever agree to have it replaced as stated in the work contractThe existing flooring was in poor condition with the finish heavily worn and fadedWe refinished the flooring which included sanding the floor to bare wood, staining and applying new polyurethane finishThe customer requested to have new hardwood flooring installed in the adjacent living room where there was existing carpetNew hardwood flooring was installed, sanded, stained and finishedThe new hardwood was delivered to the house prior to installation so it could acclimate to the environment inside the houseAll work was signed off on and payments were made in fullThe finish had a year warranty not to peel or bubbleGaps in wood occurs from the relative humidity in the home decreasing to a point where the wood goes below its equilibriumThe purpose of delivering the wood prior to installation is so that the wood can acclimate itself to the environment inside the home prior to it being installedAfter that point it is the customers responsibility to maintain those living conditions inside the home throughout the life of the floorNonetheless, the existing hardwood flooring was not installed by our companyRegardless if the previous company who installed the floor did not acclimate the wood or if the customers/previous owners did not maintain a consistent environment for the flooring our company cannot be responsible for the bevels or the gapping that existed prior to our work being performedIf increasing the RH in the home and therefore increasing the MC (moisture content) in the wood does not close the gaps then the only way to get rid of them would be to tear out the floor and install newIf the customer wanted or could afford to have this flooring in the kitchen and under the cabinets removed and replaced then we would of gladly accepted the larger jobWood filler was applied to the area of flooring that had gapping at the customer's requestThis is an option when refinishing a wood floorThe fact that some of the filler has been removed is a clear sign that the wood is moving and therefore a consistent environment is not being maintainedRegardless, the fact that the customer is stating that the filler is the cause or was the cure for fixing the gaps between the boards is completely absurdWe would gladly refund the customer the $cost of the filler or the half hour of labor it took us to apply it but we didn't charge them for itThe cost of refinishing the existing floor would have been the same with or without the filler or puttyWe would have eagerly accepted the job of removing the beveled floors with gapping and installed new hardwood if the customer wanted us to do soThe work performed was exactly as stated on the contract/estimate/invoiceAll of the services and material provided was in line or below of the industry standards along with a coupon the customer used from a magazine for $and the installation of two free wood flush mounted ventsWe have made two house calls to the customers residence and addressed all their concernsAt the time of the last house call the customer had no concerns with the flooring that was installed by our company which was inspected and was found to be in great condition with no gaps like the ones in the previously installed areaThis was approximately years from the time the work was completedWe are one of the top largest hardwood flooring companies in Southwest Ohio and we complete approximately hardwood flooring jobs per yearOur work is professional, completed to the highest degree of craftsmanship and our workers take great pride in what they do and how they treat our customers as the Revdex.com records will show from previous customer reviews
I enjoyed working for these customers and would be happy to resolve their issues with the gaps in their flooringThey received and paid for the exact amount and scope of work of which was listed on their contractIf they would like to have the flooring that was installed by another company removed and replaced with new then we would be happy to discuss those options with themI would even go as far as to discounting the sanding part of the flooring that is replacedIt seems to be quite an opportunistic attitude to realistically expect our company to completely replace a floor of which we didn't even install when all they paid for and agreed upon was to refinish it almost years agoWhich we did to a level high enough that they referred their neighbors to use us for their hardwood flooring project
My experience with Adam's Hardwood Flooring was excellentWe purchased a fixer upper and discovered the entire house had hidden hardwoodAdam's team came out, gave a quick and thorough estimate, told me ways I could save some money, and once approved, knocked the job out in a week! The communication was great and very professionalThey were able to add flooring in my kitchen and blend it with the rest of the house for a perfect finishI'll recommend Adam's to anyone who needs anything done with hardwood floorsIt was an incredible experience
My wife and I used Adam's Hardwood to install approximately sq ft of new hardwood and refinish /match approximately sq ftThe team at Adam's was prompt and courtesy starting with the estimate and continuing through the projectThey were upfront and honest through out the project regarding cost and timeline and the communication was excellentThe quality of there work is excellent. We ended up making some changes along the way ( stain color) which they went out of their way to accommodate and make sure we were happy with our changesWe are very happy with the job from Adam's and would highly recommend them to anyone installing new hardwood or refinishing existing floors
We had carpet removed in two rooms with 3/hardwood installedThe hardwood on the rest of the first floor was refinished and all stained to matchWe had to vacate the home because of the location of the floor (entry, kitchen, in front of stairs, etc.)The process took two weeksOur salesman was great and his service wonderfulThe floor matches and the color we chose looks great, but that is where the positive stopsWe returned home to a sloppy messStain was on the baseboards, and wallsThe garage had a pile of sawdust from the sanding machine and the doors had stain handprintsOur carpet had finish on it, our bathroom floor was damagedThere are chatter marks all over the floorI do most of our home renovation but knew how unforgiving sanding and staining can be so we opted to have a professional do itThis was not the right professional to chooseThere was a spot that didn't get poly put on itThe trim they installed doesn't match the floor colorThere is a footprint and two drip spots and some of the stain created a line along the wallsWe contacted our sales person immediately after we returned and he came out promptlyHe apologized and cleaned up a lot of the easy problems but brought the owner out the next dayThe owner didn't seem to care much and explained that the chatter marks weren't that badYou can see them all over! They fixed a couple of the other problems and leftWe still have floor that looks like it was sanded by someone who was brand new, trim that doesn't match, chatter marks everywhere and footprint and drip spotsThe only way to fix the problems is to take everything back to bare wood and start overI can't afford to do that again, nor take my family out of the house for that longWe consider this almost $wasted and would strongly encourage you to find another company
Adam's Hardwood Flooring just completed a job at our house and we couldn't be more pleased Their initial quote was very detailed, which gave us a good idea as to what to expect The work was actually finished a day ahead of schedule We had some existing oak floors refinished and added wood to two additional rooms The finished product is beautiful and you can't tell where the old floor ends and the new flooring begins The workers were courteous and the work space was cleaned up after each day We would definitely use Adam's again for future work and would highly recommend them to others
We received excellent service from the first sales call until the completion of the project Our floors are beautiful We are so happy that we chose Adam's Hardwood Flooring for our installation!
Adam's Hardwood recently installed and finished over sq ft of oak flooring in my home They provided good workmanship at a competitive priceI am very happy with my purchase
Adam's Hardwood flooring was professional and easy to deal with from quote to finish They were knowledgable about different products and services and explained the benefits and costs of each The floors look great and I would recommend them
We had a great experience with Adam, Cameron and Josh All were professional, courteous and diligent We had carpet and ceramic tile replaced with hardwood flooring throughout the majority of our house Project was completed in the estimated time frame of business weeksVery pleased and would recommend
We recently used Adam's Hardwood Flooring to refinish existing hardwood and install new hardwood in a carpeted addition of our house The Adam's team from day one was extremely proffesional and very personable Their quote was competive and worked to make sure that the schedule would allow for us to complete the project as we had hoped Everyone on the installation crew was very polite and we felt we could trust the team in the house with out us being around There were a few minor items that noticed once the job was complete and Adam's sent a installer over immediately to remedy We would definely recommend using Adam's for any hardwood flooring needs
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
I have had the opportunity to review the response from Adams Hardwood Flooring, and would like to shed some light on a few facts contained thereinFirst, neither my wife nor myself recall signing or receiving any document resembling the page "Hardwood Flooring Preparation and Expectations" contained as an attachment in the most recent response made by Adams Hardwood FlooringAs far as the attachments, we have an estimate dated 9-16-which somewhat resembles the invoice from 10-18-provided to the Revdex.com from the businessThis is a simple situation in which we requested the help of a hardwood "professional" to assess the then current flooring in our homeWe met with and spoke at length with Adam to address our desire to add new hardwood to some areas of our first floor and to get his opinion on the gaps we had in our current hardwood flooringAdam stated that sanding the bevels out of the existing hardwood and sealing it would resolve the issueHe also stated that his company would be able to match the condition of the "refinished" hardwood to that of the soon to be installed hardwoodThe fact that Adam states that we requested that they use the "wood filler" is completely erroneousWe are not, and do not claim to be hardwood professionals, we were basically agreeing to the suggestion provided us by the businessTo state that we requested the filler on our own is quite absurdI specifically asked whether he had any prior "issues" with the filler failing, he stated that he had never had any such issuesThis was never an issue of "not being in our budget" or us "not being able to afford" new flooring as stated in the business's responseWhy would we spend $7,on a solution suggested by a "professional" if we thought for a second that it wouldn't resolve our existing problemAdam was confident that his sanding and refinishing process would remove the gaps in our floorI have attached photos of the actual pieces of the magical "filler" that have dislodged from our floor, as we seem to remove them almost on a daily basisIt appears that the sanding process was not completed to the required depth to remove the "bevels" as Adam stated it wouldThe attached photos show that the filler pieces are rather wide and deep, suggesting their sanding process wasn't completed to the desired depthIf the bevels in the floor were completely sanded out, the width of the filler material would be rather minimalIn the gaps where the filler has dislodged, it appears that the surface is rather dirty with sanding debrisI am certain that the adherence of the filler to the wood itself was affected by the fact that the original surface may not have been prepped correctlyWe received recommendation that we not vacuum the floor and to use a specific cleaner named "Bona"We adhered to the recommendation of not vacuuming and used the "Bona" on a regular basisIn hindsight it seems odd that we were told not to vacuum, as it does not reflect much confidence that the wood filler would remain in placeAgain Adam stated that he had never had problems with his filler/sealer dislodgingAdam refers to issues of humidity in our home as wellOur humidifier was inspected and humidity checked inside our homeThe humidifier was found to be working properly and our relative humidity levels were within limitsIf humidity were an issue, we would be experiencing the dislodging filler throughout our flooringWhen actually, the issues are only occurring in areas where there is foot trafficAreas that were refinished and are not exposed to a great deal of foot traffic seem to have held up quite wellThe areas where Adam installed new hardwood flooring have not shown any issues related to humidity eitherAnother interesting fact is that there are not any gaps where the wood pieces meet end to end lengthwise in the refinished areasWhere the refinished pieces meet end to end they are completely flushWouldn't we be experiencing the gaps in these areas as well, if humidity were indeed a factor? Another photo shows an area where our toilet was removed, refinishing completed, and toilet reinstalledThere seems to be minimal but noticeable water damage and a rather large gap in the floor in that areaAdam denied having removed our toilet to perform work on our floor, this was brought up at the last so-called house call in which one of his associates did indeed confirm that they had removed and reinstalled the toiletWe had asked that this be corrected also, the water damaged area and the toilet reinstalled correctlyThis was never addressed
Adam states that they made two house calls and at the time of their last visit we had zero concerns with our flooring after yearsThis fact can be disputed by facts that the business has provided itselfNamely, the fact that we did refer our neighbor to Adam shortly after our work was completeOur neighbor agreed to have work done and performed within a year of ours having been completedWe began to experience our issues a couple months prior to our neighbors work being done and attempted several times to contact AdamSo when his associates showed up for the neighbors job, I had an opportunity to "show" his associates firsthand what we were experiencingOne of the employees did agree to come over and fill the areas where the filler had dislodged with a temporary wood puttyThe associate said that this was a temporary solution and that Adam would be in touchNeedless to say, it was extremely difficult if not impossible to contact the business or their associatesSo it would not have been possible for us not to have had issues at the time of the last house call almost years laterOur issues were brought to the attention of the business within the one year warranty timeframe that Adam refers to in his responseI have attached copies of emails that show we attempted contact with the business to resolve issues on several occasionsI guess I could track down phone records that show countless calls to Adam and his associates throughout this timeframe as wellMy wife and I are not trying to take advantage of anyone nor do we have an opportunistic attitude toward resolving this matterWe simply want the business to adhere to their promise regarding their workWe feel that the refinishing was not performed to standards that we were led to believe, nor do we feel that they were performed to the standards that Adam refers to in his correspondenceWe simply wanted the gaps out of our floorAdam promised a remedy, and it failedWe too would have gladly paid more for the larger job of installing all new wood throughout, knowing that their proposed solution would not last more than one yearWe expected that a hardwood professional's opinion would hold true, and that quality work would have been performed and warranted as promisedIt simply is not acceptable to us to have to pay twice for a service that did not hold up to a specified warrantyI feel it rather opportunistic to inexplicably avoid contact for so long and then offer to redo less than mediocre work at a discounted rate.
