I was informed that an email will be sent to me with an appt date and I should be on the look out for that information.

Review: Lack of communication no one calls you. I paid 40 for their services for a application fee its been 2 weeks and I never got a call back for a interview for a apartment. I called them they was very unprofessional on the phone hung up on me numerous times. I called them today the gentlemen told me if its been two weeks they didn't process your application and no refunds and hung up. I paid by money order the business they cashed the check 3 days after I mailed it out.Desired Settlement: I just want my forty dollars back. I thought I would get a apartment with them but it turn out to be fake

Sincerely,

Review: the company is a scam. they claim to be able to find affordable apartments & they cannot. I have tried calling them no one answers the phone anymore , nor do they respond to emails. They have cashed my $40 check & I would like my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back.

Review: I reached out to this company because they guaranteed affordable housing. They informed me that the apartments the advertised would not be removed until all applicants viewed the apartment. The asked for a 40 pre qualification fee which I submitted. I reached out several times and was not given a time frame about when I can view the apartment. They reassured me that I would be viewing the apartment and based on my qualifications, I should be able to attain it. I received and email shortly after stating that they received my application and that there maybe more possible fees in the future. I called to set an appointment and they told me that I needed to contact the company via a "contact us" form on their site. I received a reply yesterday that states all apartments are no longer available and they received my application to late. Upon reviewing others complaints, I see that this is a very similar issue that others have. This place does not have an actual address and I think its time the city pursue legal action against this fraudulent company and close them down. They prey on innocent people who are looking for affordable housing and take them for a ride. Please try to close this company down and pursue legal action based on their continuous fraudulent practices.Desired Settlement: I want a refund and some compensation because I passed up other apartments due to the guarantee that the apt I sought with this agency would be made available for me. I think this should also apply to all the other people who applied to this program.

Review: I was searching for an apartment on the internet and came across The Affordable Equity Project. There was an application that you were required to fill out and send in with a fee of $40 for the background check. I sent in the application with the $40 money order for the apartment that was advertised on their website on January **, 2014 and never got a reply.Desired Settlement: I think that the company should get me the apartment that they advertised or return my money.

Sincerely,

Review: The company [redacted] advertised this listing on there website, along with threads through other websites "Large Three Bedroom Apartment in [redacted], Asking Only $795/Month" They mention on the site to send $45 for processing fee with an application, and someone will contact me to follow up with the processing. I sent my payment and application and It has been over 2 months, and the only type of communication they have done is via email sending me the same paragraph both times. In the first email it states, that they have finished the process, and will be contacting me, but on the second email, they mention the apartment has been taken, but for another %25 fee they will continue to put me on a waiting list. I have not gotten a call, nor spoken to anyone regarding this, and they still have the listing up on there website. They took my money.

Email #1 (10-**-13)

This e-mail is to acknowledge the fact that we have received your application for one of the rental properties that we are currently offering; your application will be processed in the order that it was received, in order to ensure fairness and equality among all of our applicants. Your Application ID number is listed below; keep this number because it can be applied to any future rental properties that may be offered by the Affordable Equity Project anytime in the near future. This Application ID number will identify you in our database and allow you to enjoy a permanent discount, on any future applications you submit into us. 56For now on, your Application ID Number will subject you to a 25% discounted processing fee, in other words, any future processing fees will only cost you $30 instead of $40, this is a savings of 25%. We wish we did not have to charge any processing fee in the first place, but the reality of the situation is that there is no one that will process our applications for us for free, so therefore we do need help in offsetting some of those costs. And a condition imposed on us by the property owners and landlords that we deal with is, that we must certify that all prospective tenants that will view the rental, are responsible renters. That is why you need to be pre-qualified; this was the only way we could get the owners of the property to agree to charge a deferred rental price to anyone who will rent the property. If you help us with this small fee, we will return the favor to you by working hard to get you the affordable housing you need and deserve. That is because we are committed to helping you secure affordable housing for yourself and your family. We hope that this can make things easier for you to achieve your hopes and your dreams, by saving money on the rental price of your home. Again, thank you for choosing to do business with the Affordable Equity Project; we are an organization that really cares about your future.

Sincerely,

The Affordable Equity Project

[redacted] Email 2 (10-**-13)

Dear [redacted]:

You are receiving this e-mail to inform you that your application has been processed and you have been successfully pre-qualified to view the available apartments that we are offering at this time. Your name and contact information has been placed on a “Call Back” List, and to ensure fairness among all of our applicants, we will call you in the order in which your application was received by us, so please be on the lookout for our call. Now please understand, that we may NOT be able to call everyone, this is because anybody that comes to view the apartments that we have available at this time, will be given an opportunity to rent the apartment on the spot if they wish to do so. And as long as they sign all the required paperwork and bring with them all the necessary funds, we are required by law to rent the apartment to this individual since they have been pre-qualified already, and this may occur, before we get to your name on the list. But do not worry, even if you do not get a chance to rent the apartments that we have available at this time, you can apply your “Application ID Number” to your next application that you submit into us to get 25% off the application fee for now on. Making affordable housing even easier to attain on properties that we may offer in the future, you will not receive anymore e-mail updates after this, to find out if a particular apartment has been rented or not, please keep an eye on our website: [redacted], as soon as any of our apartments have been rented, this information will immediately be made available on our website. Again thank you for choosing the Affordable Equity Project to help meet your rental needs. We care about all of our applicants and we wish you luck in securing the apartment(s) that you have applied for.

Sincerely,

The Affordable Equity ProjectDesired Settlement: I would like them to return my my money.

Review: I mailed $40 to them for a 'very cheap' apartment. they do not pick up any phones nor do they respond to my emails... this looks like a scam to me!Desired Settlement: Refund my $40 and stop to scam people.

Review: Me and my boyfriends are both [redacted] and we saw this website online. The first thing that came to mind was it's to good to be true, but its so amazing let's try it anyways. We applied for low cost apartment rentals the first application involved sending a 40 dollar processing fee. then we received an email saying that someone has already taken the apartment but we are sure that we can get you into another affordable apartment but we will still need a processing fee this time we will only have to send 30 dollars for every application, we saw two apartments we liked and sent in two separate money orders for the amount of 30 dollars. No one ever answers the phone and when you leave a message they don't return your phone call.Desired Settlement: We would like our money back this is not fair to anyone, nobody should have to go through this when searching for apartments

Business

Response:

This customer’s name is [redacted] and she claims that she sent us in fee for renting an apartment, but when we checked through our database, we haven’t received any fee or even any application from her, we tried to contact her and she picked up the call. Then she told her that she sent us in application last year. It was quite surprising for us that how can someone claim a refund or complain about the services after a year. We get further down to our previous records and found her record. But the claim that she is asking for is not valid as per company’s policy. She claimed $100 as per Revdex.com complain and as per our fee structure, we only charge $40 per application.

[Your Answer Here]

The name is wrong my name is not or has never been [redacted] and where is the records how come we can't go to the office what kind of business has a p.o. Box and no physical office as the man claimed there is no office to go to so is this a work from home business we want answers and if the Revdex.com doesn't help we will contact the proper authorities to get this matter solved also we have sent records of receipts of the money orders made the 100 dollars is a total amount we sent to them.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: I was looking for an apt to rent and came across The Affordable Equity Project..it seemed too good to be true. They advertise on their website affordable apt's they request you download an application and sent it to the office with a $40.00 money order. I called them and asked them if it was a scam I wanted to make sure it wasn't a scam since it was too good to be true. They assured me it wasn't a scam that the Partner they had before gave them a bad reputation and that they are legit. On Feb **, 2013 I filled out the Rental Application which I now regret putting my personal information on and mailed the $40.00 money order. I didn't recieve any calls from the office so I decided to contact them, [redacted] assured me I would receive a confirm # via e-mail which I did only never got a call to view an apt all, not one. Now that I think about it there were "red flags" after I started doing research on the company. They rarely answered the phone and when a male answered the phone he would sound literally half asleep, there is one man passing off as if he is [redacted] and a few other names...unreal! I read what they do is post positive reviews they write themselves and copied and pasted pics of people from myspace next to the review to make it seem legit which is really sad! They also list about 5 apt's on their website and interested renters which could be in the hundreds send in applications and the $40.00 fee for the same apt which should not be legal!!! I called them to request a refund to no avail eventhough they said we'll get you another apt similar to the one you were interested in and said they would issue me refund by [redacted] I still haven't received my refund nor a response to an email I sent stating how can they possible take advantage of renters who are looking for a place to live, they are preying on innocent, hardworking people. This company should definitely be investigated! Thank you,Desired Settlement: I would like a refund and it would be great if they would stop taking advantage of honest hardworking individuals who are trying to move to a new apt, not only is it unfair, unethical giving all renters false hope, they are wasting our time where we could have just paid a Realtor or gotten the apt ourselves. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Review: I went on the website for affordable equity project and before I send out my 40.00 payment I wanted to make sure things look good and which it did so I finally decided to send the money order with my application for an apartment days gone by and I haven't received nothing in the mail no phone call nothing I've contact the number they have on the site left numerous voicemails and emails and still haven't received anything I will like a refund these people are scammers..all I want is my money backDesired Settlement: My outcome is to receive my 40.00 money order back from them

Review: I have called multiple times and left multiple messages in regards to an apartment close to home that i'd love to rent. i've expressed that I need to move out within a month. this was a week ago from today 11/**/13. they have yet to return my calls and for some reason I still see the post being put up on [redacted]. its the same information as always. 900 for a 2 bedroom in [redacted] (oh how ideal and perfect) too perfect if you ask me. this company seems like a scam. I call and I call and all I seem to get is just a recording asking to leave the name and number. I go on the website and in order to even view the apartment I have to send in a $40 money order/check which I won't get back because it's a scam. if I mail it I probably won't even get to see the apartment. its annoying to have to deal with scams like this especially with a time sensitive matter like the one i'm dealing. its hard to find affordable housing in the tri state area and for someone who's on a non-profit salary with a serious budget its even harder to find a decent place.Desired Settlement: Stop doing this. answer your phones when people call you to prove you're not a scam if you aren't. I really wish these people would be caught. I know i'm not the first one to have to deal with this and i'm glad I didn't send in the 40.00 that wold have been less money in my pocket. if they are a real company they need to really clean up their services because it's horrible. all I ask is for a simple call back or email to see if they're real and I have never heard of a company who asks you to send in money in order to VIEW an apartment not to even consider you as a tenant just to view it. its ridicuous. these people need to be jailed.
