The Toyota Sienna was towed in Saturday August around 11am for an overheating concernMatt [redacted] the service advisor informed [redacted] that the schedule was full but would make every attempt possible to diagnose the concernThe vehicle was then driven into the shop and a pressure test of the cooling system was performed by a certified Toyota Technician and the results came back as a rusted hole in the bottom on the radiator and a thermostat was also recommendedMatt then had the parts department try to locate an after market radiator due to a Toyota factory radiator no in stock and was unable to locate one until Tuesday morningMatt then advised [redacted] of this issue and at no point in time knew the customer would want to tow the vehicle back to New Jersey nor did the technician who worked on the vehicleOnce [redacted] informed Matt that they could not wait for repairs that is when Matt contacted myself Justin M [redacted] about arranging to have vehicle towed due to no local companies were able to transport three adults in a tow truckI then worked with [redacted] to agree on a reasonable price for the tow and made arrangement to have him on the road the same dayI myself nor Preston Motors would never do anything to cheat a customer out of money instead try to do everything we can to helpI tried calling the daytime number listed and also text messaged [redacted] so please feel free to contact me personally if need be to discuss further my direct number is ###-###-####

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Look at the man's response He agrees that he put this truck in good condition It is not good condition with a defective catalytic converter Any knowledgeable mechanic who inspects cars in PA which has many counties with emissions inspection would know this My mechanic took it off because he said it was hanging from a thread and would have fallen off and posed a safety problem My mechanic showed me new bands which he said someone recently gerry-rigged to hold the thing together His insults are self servingI only want a catalytic converter so that it will pass PA inspection if I need to He could give me a used converter as long as it would pass emissions inspection I am afraid I will get a ticket or fine for having the truck in its current conditionRegards, [redacted]

Toyota Tacomas have a known issue with rust as part of the Toyota Truck frame rust settlementWe have replaced hundreds of frames at our dealership that failed for rust damageI understand that a Toyota dealer in New Mexico and California would feel as though this is a lot of rust being that northern road conditions with salt cause this rust to occurHowever, we inspected this vehicle and the frame at the time of delivery passed this inspectionTrust us we wish it needed a new frame as Toyota pays us very well to do these warranty frame replacements however this vehicle did not fail the frame inspectionNot only did we send you several pictures, but you personally inspected the vehicle whenever you were hereLastly, we welcome any techs or inspection companies to come in an look at any of our vehicles for additional peace of mindYou purchased an vehicle that you personally inspected, we will not be providing any financial assistanceThank you

Mr [redacted] 's vehicle was brought into dealer with electrical issuesVehicle was involved in and accident and driven for over a month without a driver side fender liner installed causing mud and water to be thrown into BCM module causing corrosion witch is not warranty defect and cannot be replaced under warranty

fortunately , you get to hear both sides of the story this gentleman bought a mile truck that was in very good condition it was pa inspected by a certified master technician and we spent a little over to do all the maintenances to it to make it a front line vehicleif this noise was always present, why wasn't it brought to our attention when he was purchasing it? either way , just so you know what happened, we provide a day engine and powertrain warranty at no cost to the customer on every vehicle we sell but unfortunately he then chose not to purchase an extended warranty a little over months later he brings in a catalytic converter in a bag without ever letting us look at the situation in our shop and says it is what was on there and he replace it by spending on a straight piece of pipe ( I could of had shaffers do the repair for if this was the case ), but he wouldn't bring it to the dealership to let us look at it? its a shame there are people out there like this that are looking for something free rather than doing the right thing he is asking for when he spent sounds like a scam artest to me it just a shame

Hi Ashley, I am so sorry to hear about your experience. I am researching this right now and will be in touch to gather more information from you and to share what I found out on my end. I look forward to resolving this for you! Thank you, Bobby Preston [redacted] .

There is nothing wrong with the frame like I stated if you actually read what I wroteThe bolts and every other component are so rusted that nothing can be replaced unless you replace every single itemIts a safety issue when you can't replace the brakes, leaf springs and shocks unless you spend upwards of dollarsBut you know what the biggest issue here besides not doing a proper inspection on the vehicle before it's sold? Is that when I called and left voice messages to talk to you about it you didn't even bother to respond or call backThat shows a lack of professionalism! I wasn't even mad or angry and kindly left several messagesAnd being in NM or PA doesn't matter if a Toyota Mechanic tells you that they just can't replace the brakes and will have to replace everything to make the brakes work properlyI believe whoever did the inspection only checked the frame which is obviously fine but didn't check the bolts, shocks, and brakes to see how badly rusted they are and would need major service to be replacedI understand as a used vehicle purchase they would need to be repairs i.eWater pump, timing belt, shocks, and other maintenance itemsThat's fine but when I can't even replace those items like any person should with there vehicle that means you sold a vehicle that wasn't properly inspectedI understand mistakes happen sometimes and these things fall through the cracks sadlyBut when you don't even bother to address my issues or complaints then that's even worse then the failed inspectionWhich is why I filed a complaint with the Revdex.com because that is the only way you would communicate! If a mile road test occurred for my PA State Inspection, why did the car pass inspection before the road test actually occurred? Does not make sense that the actual window sticker reads 9,miles and the paperwork reads mileage out at 9,milesAnd then the actual car odometer reads 9,262? If the road test was required for the PA State Inspection as you stated in your response, why did you pass the car prior to driving it? And if you passed the car, why even drive it all at that pointAlso, I have been getting cars inspected for over years of my life in the state of PA, and I have never had a vehicle road tested for miles? Explain this a little betterThank you

Attached to this response is documents provided by Triple AAA, and our local Mechanic who took a second look at our vehicleAlso attached is a copy of the receipt from Justin M***, and the appointment we made with Preston Toyota. The Verification letter demonstrates that the vehicle was towed from *** ***, Slippery Rock PA, to Preston Toyota on 8/13. The name Danielle D*** was the Triple AAA member used at the time. We spoke with the service department, and made our high priority situation as clear as possible. We received a phone call from Justin M*** at 12:pm using the Phone Number ###-###-####. At 12:we received a second call from M*** telling us that the radiator is severely rusted and that they needed to order the part and would have to wait until the following Tuesday in order to fix it, and we simply could not wait that long therefore we were forced to have to tow the Vehicle. M*** offered his personal towing service, which there is a receipt for attached above. Regardless of what MrP*** was told this vehicle was at the location, and was diagnosed. Our mechanic at *** *** repair found nothing wrong with the radiator only the Coolant temp sensor. Which is consistent with the initial diagnosis that the Temperature gauge of the vehicle was not working, which lead to the cooling fans not turning on to cool the vehicle off. This was a dollar part which I have no doubt the service department could have fixed.

Hi ***, thank you so much for your purchase from us! I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your vehicleI have included a copy of the original repair order from when we had this vehicle in for serviceAs you can see we invested nearly $1,into your Versa so that it was in
excellent mechanical condition, so I can assure you if there were an issue with the muffler or catalytic converter we would have replaced that at this time as wellWhile we are unable to do the repair free of charge, I'd be willing to work with you to help you out on the cost of the repair, please call me on my cell to discuss further ###-###-####Thanks, Bobby P***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. It is true that our high priority situation was taken into account by Preston Toyota. We were moved to the front of the service line as soon as they were able to, and the people on the phone were very understanding of the handicap we were faced with. It was made very clear to Preston every step of the way that we needed to know if this vehicle could be fixed or else we would have to tow the vehicle back to New Jersey. Our dispute with this business is in regards to their diagnosis of our radiator. We took this vehicle to A-Kar Auto Sales INC, located at State Rte 36E, Middletown NJ on Monday the 15th. They reported NO such hole in the radiator, or any signs of rust. They only fixed the temperature cooling sensor, which was the main problem I suggested when I reported the problem to Preston Toyota two days earlier. The cooling fans were not turning on because the temperature cooling sensor had malfunctioned. There was no anti-freeze leaking, because we checked the anti-freeze moments after we broke down on I-79. We had determined that the cooling fans were a possible problem before taking the vehicle to Preston Toyota, and made sure to mention this to the mechanic on siteIf the Preston Toyota diagnosis of our radiator was correct then our mechanics at *** auto should have also found this problem, they did not. There is inconstancy between what Preston Toyota said, and what our mechanics FOUND. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our radiator, as we were told by Preston Toyota. *** tested the vehicle for leaks and found none, instead found the temperature cooling sensor was malfunctioning as I mentioned earlier, and fixed it within half an hour. We believe that we were given information by Preston Toyota so that we would be forced to have the vehicle towed back to NJ. We believe Justin M*** took advantage of this situation by offering his towing service. We are more than willing to have *** *** speak on our behalf if need be. ###-###-####Can Mr.M*** produce a diagnostic report for our car, indicating a bad radiator? If he can, he should have his diagnostic equipment checked

we are really confused by this gentlemans complaints. just to give an update on what transpired when this vehicle went through our service dept and prior to when we sold it to him. we put this vehicle through a through pa inspection as we do with all of our vehicles.
all of the tires measured 5/and the rear brakes measured 8/and the front brakes measured 6/32. to pass pa inspection both tires and brakes need to be at higher than 2/32. brand new is roughly 12/32. looks as we replaced the air filter, new wipers,,ethanol kit, battery service and put new pivot kit for the parking brake and we put a new front bumper on this vehicle, with all the work , we spent just over to make this truck nice and pa inspected. alos, while this gentleman was working with us and trying to buy this vehicle , we have documented pictures ( can provide to you with all correspondence ) that were sent to him of the underneath and frame of this vehicle and he made the comments "very clean". we had no problem taking pictures and doing whatever he wanted before he made the trip from new mexico. after he purchased the vehicle he proceeded to drive it from Pennsylvania to new mexico without any problems. sounds like to me it was a pretty nice year old vehicle with miles on it . like I mentioned , if needed I can provide you with every picture and every email that took place with him and you could see first hand his comments of "very clean " . thanks

belowThe complaint stands as is...it's a matter of safety not being vengeful! I feel that Preston Motors has not even made an effort, even though they were in the wrong! So the complaint will stand as it is unless we can come to some agreement!

Look at the man's response.  He agrees that he put this truck in good condition.  It is not good condition with a defective catalytic converter.  Any knowledgeable mechanic who inspects cars in PA which has many counties with emissions inspection would know this.  My mechanic took it off because he said it was hanging from a thread and would have fallen off and posed a safety problem.  My mechanic showed me new bands which he said someone recently gerry-rigged  to hold the thing together.  His insults are self serving. I only want a catalytic converter so that it will pass PA inspection if I need to.  He could give me a used converter as long as it would pass emissions inspection.   I am afraid I will get a ticket or fine for having the truck in its current conditionRegards,[redacted]

The 2004 Toyota Sienna was towed in Saturday August 13 around 11am for an overheating concern. Matt [redacted] the service advisor informed [redacted] that the schedule was full but would make every attempt possible to diagnose the concern. The vehicle was then driven into the shop and a pressure test of the cooling system was performed by a certified Toyota Technician and the results came back as a rusted hole in the bottom on the radiator and a thermostat was also recommended. Matt then had the parts department try to locate an after market radiator due to a Toyota factory radiator no in stock and was unable to locate one until Tuesday morning. Matt then advised [redacted] of this issue and at no point in time knew the customer would want to tow the vehicle back to New Jersey nor did the technician who worked on the vehicle. Once [redacted] informed Matt that they could not wait for repairs that is when Matt contacted myself Justin M[redacted] about arranging to have vehicle towed due to no local companies were able to transport three adults in a tow truck. I then worked with [redacted] to agree on a reasonable price for the tow and made arrangement to have him on the road the same day. I myself nor Preston Motors would never do anything to cheat a customer out of money instead try to do everything we can to help. I tried calling the daytime number listed and also text messaged [redacted] so please feel free to contact me personally if need be to discuss further my direct number is ###-###-####.
