Albright Painting & Construction Reviews (36)

We just had a great experience with Albright Painting and Construction. [redacted] (owner) went above and beyond to work around our vacation (and weather) including spending time personally working on our home (including weekends) to keep their schedule. We had a big job including exterior painting of our home, screened porch, garage and roofline wood rot replacement. No details were missed including front porch rails and doors (they even refinished our garage door decorative hardware). We have had comments on how great our house looks and glad we chose them. [redacted] and his crew were skilled and courteous. We have hired a lot of contractors and I can say that for the size of this job, there were no details missed and we would recommend them to others.

I called Dave Brown at Albright Painting & Construction to do some small carpentry work and paint the entire exterior of my house before I put it on the market. Dave gave me a very fair quote so I went with him. He and his staff were professional, quick, and made my house look like a million dollars so much so that I had two offers on it within the first 24 hours.

I felt compelled to write this review as I was looking at the Revdex.com website and saw a lone negative review that seemed to be unnecessarily bashing Albright Painting & Construction. I had the completely opposite experience with Dave and his crew and would recommend him to anyone because his price and quality can not be matched.

Hi- I had to take to the time to share and let everyone know if you are looking for a superior detailed painting company, I recommend Albright Painting and Construction. The owner of Albright and team of workers get 5 stars for their quality workmanship, friendly and the detailed work they completed on the exterior and interior of my home, along with the handyman items they saw and recommended. Such as, my outdoor lighting against the house that required bolting, screwing in plant holders around the porch, hanging pictures inside, haling a way unwanted items I no longer wanted and a host of other things.

The owner and team showed up early everyday and work to the evening, including weekends. They exceeded our expectation!! Thanks to Albright and Team, I have a new home again, it's perfect, and I'm very happy!!!

I promise you in all sincerity, you will not find a more honest, friendly, detailed, customer service oriented professional than the owner of Albright Painting and Construction.

Very Happy Customer

We employed David Brown of Albright Painting and Construction and his crew to do painting, power washing, and repair work on our house, patio, and deck. The power washing of the house really brought new life to our 37-year brick and the paint trim, patio, and side walk. We were really impressed with what he did to give our deck a new face lift. They really paid a lot of attention to repairs of our deck that were needed after a few years of neglect. They replaced wood boards on the floor that had turned up, filled in putty where wood had split, replaced nails that had popped up, replaced all of the wood trim around the deck, sand rough wood down, painted the whole deck (top, bottom, etc.). He made recommendations for what kind of paint we needed for the job. They did an excellent job painting the deck. They were careful not to get paint on house and other objects that were sitting around. They also did an excellent job painting our back door, garage, and railings. They removed the glass panels beside the back door, cleaned them, painted and returned them like new. They were very careful not to get paint on the bricks and steps. We appreciated the special attention that they did in doing the job for us. We would recommend his business to others. As a matter of fact, we recommended him to a dear friend and she was pleased with his work also.

Leo and Alice Kelly, Henderson, NC

I had a good experience with Albright Painting & Construction. He was very responsive and helped us to pick out the right colors in staining our deck. There was a bit of a delay in starting the process but it was mostly weather related. He and his crew were quick and efficient. They did a great job and I'm happy with the work. Would hire again. Refund due on July 15. Still not received. On May 3, 2016, [redacted] of Albright Painting and Construction signed a contract with us to start painting our house on May 30, 2016. He collected a deposit from us of $1750.00 (check# [redacted]) at that time. That date came and went without any work starting on our house. Frequent communication with [redacted] (always initiated by us) was responded to with the promise: "you are the next house on my list, just finishing a house and then we'll be to your house." We were in the process of preparing to put our house on the market. We made this clear to [redacted], along with the fact that we needed a clear deadline so that we could plan for listing date. [redacted] would not provide us with a date to start painting. Finally, on June 10, he notified us that he was coming over to start power washing. Instead, he showed up at our home to inform us that the painting of our house would once again be delayed. At that point, we had put off listing our house for several weeks and could wait no longer. We terminated our association and requested a refund. [redacted] stated that a refund would be sent. After following up with him several times, he finally told us that refunds were offered 30 days following termination of contract. The contract was terminated by us on June 11. 30 days came and went. We still have not received a check. When my husband contacted [redacted] last week, he said that he was "behind" and would get it to us. We are not a bank. We are private home owners who can't afford to lend out $1,750 to a business. We need our refund.Desired SettlementSend our refund via. certified mail ASAP.Business Response Good morning to all readers August 31 2016. I would like to make this short and to the point. I try to the best of my ability to live my life and conduct business with integrity each and every day. I just received this complaint by checking my company Revdex.com rating online August 30 2016. I just got off the phone, with the Revdex.com this morning August 31 2016. I will always respond to all complaints, simply because it is the correct thing to do. This response was delayed do to the Revdex.com having an incorrect email address on my company. I needed a special link to respond online, which I just received this morning August 31 2016. For the record, all customers that are do a refund will receive their refund. Do to unforeseen circumstances and situations, some refunds may be delayed. This costumers project was delayed for many reasons. Bad weather, such as rainy days and excessive heat. Our company being in high demand this time of year, and sometimes we have large change orders on existing projects. I personally arrived on Friday June 10 2016 to began power washing the customers home. He has 10 to 12 brick stairs on the front of his home, which he had freshly tuck pointed, with wet motor and covered with plastic. I informed the customer that I would not power wash under these conditions, because the brick work would get damaged. I would never allow myself or my men, to climb on plastic wet or dry, on brick stairs, because it is a safety hazard. (I attended trade school for Painting Decorating and one of my courses was safety, this is a NO NO.) I informed the customer, I could start that following Monday, that was not good enough. He began yelling and screaming, while holding a toddler demanding a refund. I felt that someone had to be the the bigger man, because I refused to talk him, the way he talked to me. I replied, you will receive a refund and I drove away. I talked to this customer by phone on August 30 2016 and many times previously by text and phone, apologizing and informing him about the delayed refund and reassuring him that he will receive his refund. I would like to re-emphasize, many times we are delayed because we are in high demand, because of our outstanding quality. I apologize to this customer and any others, if sometime we are unable to accommodate them with our service and meeting their deadline dates. This is never intentional.Thank youConsumer Response Thank you for responding to our complaint. I believe that Over two months is plenty long enough to allow you to repay our deposit. You spent no money on our behalf and should be able to honorably refund our monies. Please do so by this weekend as you recently promised my husband.I also wish to state that when you came to our house on June 10, you told my husband that you had not planned to powerwash, but that you needed to further delay our project. We are long overdue our refund. Please send it immediately.Response from Business 09/01/2016:These problems for our firm become more complicated than need be, when a customer jump the gun and rush to the internet and say things that are half truths, part truths and in some cases not true at all. This type of slander cost our firm thousands. I never promised your husband this would be resolved by this weekend. I stated I will do by best. I know for a fact it will be resolved by 15 days of this letter which is September 16, 2016Thank youMore info received from the consumer 09/22/2016:In his response, Mr. [redacted] stated that we would be refunded our money on Sept. 16. On Sept. 16, he texted my husband and told him that it would be after 5:00pm on Monday, the 19th. He even asked for our address. Monday came and went with no money. In speaking with another victim of Mr. [redacted], I have learned that this his modus operandi. He promises and promises, but never delivers. Just like he promised to paint our house and did not deliver.More Information from Business 09/22/2016:This customer was Called on 9/19/2016 With a apology and Stating that my firm was waiting on a check that did not come and I put in a request for more time, which was another week. I have a project that will be completed and I will receive my check. That week would be up on Monday 9/26/2016. Keep in mind we are working on the exterior and we had a few rainy Days. Worse Case this customer will receive his check no later then 9/30/2016 Consumer Rebuttal 09/23/2016:This is not satisfactory. Mr. [redacted] has promised repayment many times and has not come through. I can see nothing, other than words, that indicate that we will ever receive our refund. Mr. [redacted], if you intend to actually refund us. Please make sure it is a cashier's check from your bank. We would like this matter definitively closed. We would like it sent certified mail as your uncivil tone with us over this dispute has been extremely stressful for our whole family. If Mr. [redacted] actually comes through with a cashier's check by September 30, I will update the Revdex.com here.Final response from Business 09/26/2016:You have made this stressful for your self. Because I have been and constant contact with your husband by phone, updating him along the way. You and husband choose to keep writing the Revdex.com as strategy to slander me and company. I do all my refunds Cashier's check.Thank youMore Information from Consumer 09/26/2016:Mr. [redacted], Going to the Revdex.com is not what has made this stressful for us. Try explaining to your 11 year old why a contractor took $1750 from you, never performed a service, and 4 months later has not repaid the amount. Try to tell a boy who has a strong sense of justice and fairness that this is why mom and dad can't afford the couch, new shoes etc. I'm sorry he had to learn about dishonesty in this way. It will be extremely helpful to be refunded by yourself. But you can't give him back his trust in people who come to our home and tell us that they are going to perform a service. He will forever be asking me, "mom, how do you know that they are actually going to do this?"

On 4/30/16, Mr. [redacted] of Albright Painting and Construction in Durham signed a contract with me in Raleigh to paint the interior of my rental house for $3750. That same day he required that I give him a check made payable to him (not his company) for 50% of the cost or $1875. He cashed it that day. He was to begin work 5/12/2016.
He delayed the start of the project until 5/19/16. The afternoon of the day before Mr. [redacted] was scheduled to begin work (5/18/16), he had his "supposed cousin" [redacted] from [redacted] call me to cancel our meeting the next day so he could begin the project. She stated he had a family emergency in [redacted] and was in flight there and would be gone for several weeks and could not do the work. She promised I would be receiving a certified check for the full amount of the refund - $1875 - by Monday, 5/23/16. Of course it was never received. Over and over again [redacted] promised me in text messages (copies of which I have) and the [redacted] that he would pay me in full. He did not and has not as of today 9/5/2016.
Mr. [redacted] should be prosecuted by the authorities. He takes advances without performing the work, which is a criminal act under NC Statute.","neg-1

We hired Albright painting to paint the exterior of our 10 year old home and deck. I felt that the pricing was very competitive with the other 4 quotes we received. They did require a 50% deposit for materials to get started which I wasn't crazy about but it turned out not to be an issue. Mr. [redacted] consulted with us to pick out the colors of our home and only used high quality [redacted] paint. We did have some scheduling challenges because of weeks and weeks of rain, but Mr. [redacted] always answered his phone and did a good job of staying in constant communication with us about the schedule. Once they did get on site, I felt the quality of the work was impeccable. Mr. [redacted] and his team were very detail oriented and went above and beyond to make sure our house turned out beautiful. He took the initiative to secure loose siding that had been improperly installed as well as re-mounting all the shutters on our home, which were falling off to make sure our house looked great. They even washed all the windows and painted our mailbox and post. We had 3 neighbors ask for their number once they saw how great our home turned out. That says it all in my mind. We are very satisfied with the end result and would use Albright painting again.","pos-3

I hired [redacted] to power wash my home, driveway and paint my mail box. He did a very outstanding job. I will definitely hire him again for any future projects that need to be done.

I have worked with Albright on a number of small and large projects, both on a business level (my rental property business) and on my private home. Albright's work has always been of highest quality and on time/budget. Fantastic work!","pos-4

On October 27th, 2014, [redacted] dropped by our home ([redacted]) offering to paint anything outside or inside.I showed him the hallway. He talked for an hour, and I signed up. He quoted $800.00 and asked for a check for $400.00 which I gave to him.Never saw him again.I was able to get him at the phone listed on this business card, a few times. He was always going to "stop by" or "drop off paint colors". He did not do either. It is my fault, I guess for not checking him out. On January 10, 2014 I was able to get him on the phone and cancelled the job, asking for my $400.00 back. He said I broke the contract and he could not return the money. Desired SettlementrefundBusiness Response Mrs. [redacted] did indeed sign a contract with me on Oct 27, 2014 and was required to give a $400 deposit for materials. I've made 5 or more attempts to contact Mrs. [redacted] by phone and received no answer, just her answering machine. On every occasion I left a message. Mrs. [redacted] response came 3 to 5 days later and she received my answering machine. Right before the Christmas and New Year's holiday, I made contact with Mrs. [redacted] and have successfully reached her on the phone. I asked if we could come in and paint the foyer and hall which could be completed in a day and a half, before the holiday. She responded and specifically said no because she had guest coming to town. After New Year, Mrs. [redacted] contacted me and angrily stated she was cancelling the contract and abruptly hung up the phone without allowing me a chance to speak. I immediately returned her call and got no answer. I would simply like to conclude by stating that Mrs. [redacted] was very kind during the signing of the contract and I would like write this up as a disagreement and conflict on a lack of communication and scheduling. I would like to state for a fact that I try to live my life daily by conducting business with integrity. I never stated to her that I would not refund her deposit, this is simply not true because she never gave me a chance to speak she simply hung up. I apologize if things did not turn out as expected. I am more than happy to return her deposit certified check within 30 days from the date of this letter. By the way, sorry for the delay, this is the first time I received this complaint, it was by mail. This letter was written from the Revdex.com on February 13, 2015 and I received it out of my mail box on February 23, 2015.

My husband and I live in [redacted] but had a rental home in North Carolina that we are putting on the market. We contacted Mr [redacted] told him what we needed done. He did an amazing inside and out. He was on the job everyday checking on what needed to be done. He goes that extra extra mile to make his clients happy. My husband and I are so grateful we found this company to take care of our home while we were miles away. The communication was outstanding. I highly recommend Mr [redacted] at Albright Painting you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Our house looks beautiful! Thank you Mr [redacted] for all your help. We couldn't have done it without you!"

What can I say. I had a strict deadline and Mr. [redacted] team surpassed it. My wife and I just bought a new house and needed some rooms painted before we moved in and we had carpet cleaners scheduled ready to go. His team worked 18 hours the first day and another 9 the second day to accommodate the carpet cleaners and our strict move in date. Mr [redacted] knew more than any other painter I had come look at the house, from noticing nail pops and peeling drywall tape to bad drywall work. I had trust in him the first day I met him and his team and left the house key so he can get the job done on time and kept professional. Not once did I feel any sort of doubt that he would not abide by what his standards are, and they are very high. Mr [redacted] did a professional clean up job and you would have never known we had painters in the house except for the beautifully painted walls. Even after I paid him in full he was on the job with his team touching up and cleaning. He was the only business owner who was on site to help paint and do a final walk through to make sure I was happy. His work is professional, his team is professional and Mr [redacted] is a true professional at what he does. I will use him for future projects as well as recommend him to friends and colleagues. I wish I can post pictures of the before and after because it is speechless. Thank you again Mr. [redacted] and [redacted]!!! You have made my family very happy". ","pos-9
