ALC Appliance Repair Reviews (%countItem)

Our issue began in December when our dishwasher broke. We called Our issue began in December when our dishwasher broke. We called ALC Appliance Repair. The first technician whose name was Adam, came to our house and did some work on the dishwasher. According to the receptionist Katie, he left no notes on what he did and according to the company, he was let go. The next technician, Chris, came to the house a few different times. After paying upfront for parts ($235.21) for an alleged bad valve and chip board, over a period of 3 visits, Chris found that a switch was burned out. I saw the switch in person and did confirm that it was burned. I asked why was this not one of the first things they look for? He said, "it is but I didn't check it because I assumed the previous technician already checked it." I then asked were there any work order comments in their company computers that reflected this? He said, "No. the previous technician was let go and left no comments on what he worked on or checked." The following timeline is from my personal records and have been verified by ALC Appliance Repair:

Feb 03, 2020: Chris - control board is bad

Feb 10, 2020: we made a payment of $203.11

Feb 26, 2020: new board didn't work and the valve was found to be bad as well

Mar 17, 2020: new valve installed but appliance still did not work. This is where we found the door switch was burned out

At this point, there are some large gaps in time from the time the part was paid for until we actually got it installed. I called several times in between to verify the status of the part. A total of 9 "inquiries" were made by Katie (receptionist) to Bri and Brad (Company owners)

Apr 02, 2020: I received a phone call from Brad offering a refund for the amount of $203.11. Would not offer a full refund but we agreed on the amount of $203.11

From this point 7 more "inquiries" were filed by Katie to Bri and Brad.

The common answers I received each time I called were:

- "They're not here today but should be back in a couple of days."

- "I will put in another inquiry, she should get it soon."

A couple of times, I questioned her extensively as to how their company runs and the only answer I could get was "Bri is the only one in the company that can handle this or would have knowledge of it."

If this is indeed true, there is no communication between owners/managers and workers and is indicative of poor record keeping. This is also reflected the current assessment from the Revdex.com which is misdiagnosing issues, having difficulty receiving a refund, and not communicating with customers. Their Revdex.com accreditation was revoked in Aug 2020.

On the opposite side of this, I agree that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of hold up in businesses, ordering of parts, as well as financially. Also, with tropical weather I also agree that this can and does cause issues as well. When they have called me back which was only once and the times I spoke with them they were very polite, but at the very least, reach out to your customers, even if it's just a quick update. While we have seen positive reviews of this company, unfortunately, our experience has not been. In our experience, there was always an excuse why no one with knowledge could speak with us at the time. While we have a reasonable expectation that we will not see a refund, this is not the fault of the company. This is our fault for not doing better research on a repair company. There are companies in the Pensacola area who are far superior. Please consider this review and do proper research before using this or any other company.

Being honest I can not argue some of the facts that were stated. We did drop the ball with this customer. We had technicians in the field who we thought was doing their job correctly and it was discovered it was not true. Unfortunately we have had a bad run of employee this year and have had huge financial hurdles with all the Hurricanes and Covid related issues. I do not mention all this as an excuse, but to state that we as a company failed to maintain good employees and customer service. I can assure you we have removed all the bad apples and moving forward we must and will do better! I greatly apologize for all the inconvenience and frustration we have caused you. I thank you for being understanding and assure you that you will receive your refund and that we as a company have acknowledged and corrected our issues.

Payment was taken at the time for ordering a piece to repair our refrigerator. After 5 phone contacts we asked for a refund. We are still waiting.
On 6/15/2020 their repairman came out and said we needed a new sensor for our refrigerator. We had to pay for it in advance and the $319.93 was cashed immediately. He told us he thought it would be in the following week. I called after two weeks and was told there had been a delay in the shipping but the piece was on its way and I would be contacted when it arrived. I called later the following week and was told it was still not in, they would call to schedule when it arrived. Same conversation two more times for 6 weeks. Ultimately, our refrigerator had to be replaced so I called again and requested a refund. I was told "***" handled that and would call me. No one ever called. I called again 3 days later to let them know I was still waiting for the refund and that *** never called. A note was being sent to her immediately so it could be resolved. That was on July 30th. To this date, no one from ACL Appliance Repair has ever contacted me.

Desired Outcome

I would like a complete refund of my money. Although there is a fee for the repairman to come out initially, after all the hassle and inconvenience and ultimately having to replace my refrigerator due to their company's poor organization, service, and lack of communication, that fee needs to be waived. I would like the entire $319.93 refunded immediately. You can access my scanned documents here: https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:70f7e937-f5c3-48af-XXXX-XXXbf9a5f02e

ALC Appliance Repair did not repair my ice maker and has not refunded my prepaid amount of $265.53 in spite of many assurances to do so.
On May 27,2020, ALC Appliance Repair came to my condo located at XXXXX Perdido Key Drive, *** Perdido Key, FL XXXXX to repair my refrigerator's ice maker. The technician told me that my ice maker was "dead" and needed to be replaced. I paid him in full ($265.53) for parts and labor to replace the ice maker. I NEVER RECEIVED THE ICE MAKER. I have contacted ALC by phone and email and have been assured multiple times that a refund was in process. Now over 2 months later I still have not received my refund. To make matters worse, I contacted another refrigerator repair company. That technician came out and after inspection informed me that the ice maker was not "dead" but was trying to harvest ice. The problem was that the small seal on the end of the water line that delivers water to to the ice maker had a small leak and had frozen, thus not allowing water into the ice maker. He replaced the seal with a new one and within 45 minutes the ice maker was making ice. So ALC Applicance Repair was completely wrong and I believe a scam to get me to order a new ice maker when I did not need one. It's important to note that I have contacted their office numerous times, but not once have they proactively reached out to me to advise me of the status of my refund. I have learned that this is a husband (technician) and wife (receptionist) team. The repair diagnosis was totally wrong by the technician and the constant assurances that my refund check was being "processed by corporate". Who's corporate as this appears to be a small privately owned business. They have office numbers in both Pensacola and Daphine, AL. I will be filing an identical complaint in the appropriate Alabama Revdex.com. Please help me get my refund check and more importantly let others know of my experience so they can choose a reliable appliance repair company. My receipt for my payment is attached.

Desired Outcome

Contact the business and request they refund my $263.53 for produce and services never provided. Also publish my complaint so that other customers are aware of my poor experiences.

ALC Appliance Repair Response • Jul 31, 2020

We have been in contact with the customer via email, and even though he didn't hold up to the terms we are still refunding the customer for the cost of the repair. The customer was aware that the refund was requested but was delayed due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Refund has been sent for process.

Customer Response • Aug 03, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response sent to the Revdex.com is the same response that I have been getting from ALC Appliance Repair for 2+ months. It's the standard "your check is in the mail" reply. I paid them for product and services never provided back in May 27, 2020, more then two months ago. Every time I contact them via email or the phone, they tell me the same thing they are telling you. So no the case should not be closed. All I want is my refund. You should note there are similar complaints against ALC filed online - people ordering parts that never are delivered.

Money paid up front no service rendered and no communication .
On June XX XXXX ALC came to our home to repair our Samsung dryer . The tech's name was *** . He took the dryer apart and found the belt was broken due to a bad idler pulley . He pulled his cell phone out and ordered the parts . He told us it would be 3 to 5 days to receive the parts . We paid him 250.58 with a check . Our bank statement shows check cashed on June XX XXXX one day later . Ten days goes by we don't hear from them . I called the dispatch named *** asking when are you going to schedule my repair . She told me parts where not in . the next week I called her again she told me the same thing parts are not in . I asked for a tracking number so I could track the parts she would not give me one. I then ask to speak to the owner she said the only way to reach the owner was for her to text him . five more phone calls over the next two weeks to *** with the same results ( I will text the owner and have him call you ) . Now its been 36 days and still not repair or any communication from the owner . I would beware of doing business with this company . I'm now going to pursue *** claims court to get my money back .

Desired Outcome

finish the job or refunded me .

ALC took $500.00 from me to repair my dryer that they ordered continuously same part for. Never heard back since 90 + days. Dryer still broke.
ALC made promises that they could not fulfill. March 5, 2020 I phoned this company first time to repair my dryer. part's had to be ordered. Three times same guy, "said, he's wife and him were owner's." He finally admitted "not knowing what was wrong with the dryer after he ordered and came back to pretend to examine it".

Desired Outcome

$500.00

The website says in two places they have an A+ rating from the Revdex.com. This is false. They have a B+. I informed the owner who insisted it was legit.
I've had refrigerator problems for months. ALC has come out many times and I've paid them many hundreds of dollars to fix it. On June 14th they installed a new defroster that has never worked optimally. Of late, it failed to work at all. I called to get a technician out to my house, since it's under warranty. They said they could reply in 15 DAYS. I told them this was unacceptable and asked for a manager. The lady said she was the manager and the only person to talk to was the owner, who was out for two weeks. This was infuriating and I told the lady as much. I requested the owner to call me. I also pointed out their website states in two places they have an A+ rating from the Revdex.com, and I indicated it was false advertising.

I got a call back to the owner who insisted that I would indeed have to wait 15 days with no refrigerator because they had no available technician. The owner also told me that even though he advertised an A+ rating with the Revdex.com and the Revdex.com said it was B+ that this was somehow NOT false advertising. I called the Revdex.com who told me, yes, this was indeed false advertising and needed to be taken down. They also noticed the company advertised an A+ rating from Angie's List when no such letter rating system exists.

I sit here today, with a refrigerator not working, having to wait 2 weeks for service despite having already paid hundreds of dollars to them. The owner was unapologetic and unwilling to help. When I told him about the Revdex.com rating issue, he accused me of being motivated by an attempt to expedite service rather than a commitment to the truth. I feel scammed.

Desired Outcome

I seek a correction of the false information on their website. I would also hope they would fix my refrigerator in a timely manner or give me a refund.

I am writing to you because I don't want any other old people scammed by this company. I have enclosed the repair bill which we paid in full. After the repair man left and told us to let the refrigerator thaw we decided we would not need further service. We called and they said they would refund our money except the service call. We have called these people 3 times. They have stated that they will send a check. We have never received one. I don't think they should be scamming old people. We are 74 and 79.

Desired Outcome

refund check

On June 27,2020 had serviceman came in looked at our washer ,did not open washer ,told us it was water pump, insisted the company he had to get paid up
I don't have any of this info except cashed check #1354 amt $259.99 on 5/29/20 cashed 6/3/20 Service 1 FCU,Mobile Alabama acct XXXXXX. Never came back to fix called multiple times no calls back gave chance after chance with nothing done not even call back I now have to figure I have no recourse except report this deceitful act against promise to fix never returned and now lost monies I was falsely treated because of my age and purposely lied to knowing we was being scammed by company knowingly purposely continue to fraud me They now trying to say I have no contract with them Acting like they have never talked to me This is an insulted to me.

Desired Outcome

Reimbursement of money stolen by repairman and under company's knowledge and cover up Thier ownership in fraudulent company practices should not be allowed to be able to work in Florida or Alabama, have company in Daphne,Alabama I'm filing this complaint first

ALC repair man came to my home 0n 16 Mar 20 to repair my refrigerator; multiple visits was unable to fix it so I asked for a refund. Still waiting.
Repair Order #XXXXXXXX. After assessing the issue with my refridgerator on 16 March 20 the repair man *** told me the issuse was a bad valve located in the front of the refridgerator and charged me $265.53 to order the part and told me once the part came in he would return to install the part. Weeks past and I received no updates irt to the status of the ordered part. So I called asking for a status update and was told they had not received the part but would look into it and return my call. on 18 Apr 20 I received a call the part was in and they schedule me to complete the repair on 23 Apr 20. *** returned to install the part but after installation the water dispenser still was not working. I was told the only other thing it could be was that my water line was frozen and that I needed to remove the things from my refridgerator and leave it open at least 12 hours to thaw out. Which I did but still it did not fix the problem. I called ALC again and made them aware the problem was still not fixed. The secretary had *** return my call and he told me he would reach out to GE to see what else the problem could be. Weeks passed without receivig an update so I called ALC again seeking an update. The secretary had *** call me back. He said he spoke with GE and that still the only thing they thought the problem could be was a frozen line and did not have any other options for me. I called the ALC office again asking if they could send someone else out to look at my refridgerator as my problem has now been going on for more than 2 months with no resolution. She told me *** was the only repair guy they had. So I asked for a refund of my money since the repair was not repaired. Again she had *** call me back in regards to getting a refund and he had me call her back to make the request. She took my request and told me that it would take 3 weeks for my refund request to be reviewed and a decision to be made if I warranted a refund and if granted the refund I would receive a check in the mail. Here it is 25 June 20 and still nothing. I called another repair company to repair my refrigerator on 12 June 20. They told me it was a different valve located in the back of the refridgerator charged me 157.48 replaced the part and fixed the problem in one visit. I did not want to write this complaint against ALC but at this point I would simply like them to resolve this issue by stop delaying doing the right thing and finally returning my money I paid for ( a part that I did not need and the labor fee for a job they did not repair) . Thank you.

Desired Outcome

I am again asking them to refund the money I was charged (in whole not a partial refund) in a timely manner on the inital visit to repair the issuse that did not correct the issue. I simply want to resolve this issuse, I understand they can't always repair the problem but they should own it, not guess what the problem is and refund the money without problem or delay for a repair job they were not successful in completing.

I have been attempting unsuccessfully to get an update on the status of my service repair, which was paid fully on June 15th in the amount of $241.88.
I have been attempting, unsuccessfully, to get an update on the status of my service repair, which was pre-paid fully on June 15th in the amount of $241.88. Last week, the service representative refused to provide me with an update and today no one called me back after I called and texted and emailed the company. I want a full refund in the amount of $241.88 the company already charged me for the services not rendered to repair a dryer at my home. The company needs to be more transparent about how it charges its customers for the services and that a service must be prepaid. I have not seen a receipt before it was emailed it to me as I believed the charges were for parts and they had parts available right there and then.

Desired Outcome

I want a full refund from the company, a check mailed back to my home address.

Repair person came out 5/28/20 - ordered part. Has not called or returned to repair
Part for repair was suppose to be in no later than 6/4/20. We had to pay up front for part to be ordered. We have called the main number (XXX-XXX-XXXX) at least twice a day everyday and can not get a return call or any one to answer the phone. In addition we have called the technicians number, the companies number in Destin and AL with no one answering these phones as well.

Desired Outcome

Just wanted to report company in case anyone else has the same issue. We have called our credit card company to dispute the charges. Should the company call us we will not be paying the minimum $95 service call charge.

ALC Appliance Repair Response • Jul 31, 2020

As of 7/17/20 this repair has been completed. Mrs. and another family member named Ken stayed in contact with our office. She and he both called multiple times and their calls were answered and questions were discussed. Once the part finally arrived we attempted to get her scheduled. She then informed us that she had canceled her credit card payment and refused to let us return. A few days later we then received another call stating that she did not stop her payment and requested us to come. She was then upset that the date we had given her when she had refused service was no longer available. She was then scheduled for 07/17/20 and the repair was completed.

Customer Response • Aug 03, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They make it sound like they where always in contact with me. This was not the case, thats why I filled the complaint. The repairs were completed on the date listed. I feel there response is just another case of covering what was a good reputation. I will NOT be recommending them to anyone. Thank you for your assistance Im sure your contacting them is the only reason they finally called us.

Tech was not only unable to fix my dishwasher, but broke it more. He has been out 5 times. No resolution, mgmt refuses to return call.
I have been dealing with this company for 2 months now. Tech came out to repair a dishwasher that would not cycle. Told me it was the board and asked for $289 for parts/labor, upfront. He has returned to my house 4 more times, has now caused my dishwasher to have no power, has no idea how to fix it. Claimed management would call and offer a resolution. No call ever came. We have called and requested a return call several times over the last week and have still received a call. This company took my $289 and broke my dishwasher more than it was before. They refuse to return phone call with any sort of resolution.

Desired Outcome

I am requesting the reimburse me 100% or replace with new, same value dishwasher.

ALC Appliance Repair Response • Jul 31, 2020

As requested by the Customer, a full refund has been approved and is being processed. We apologize for delay.

Out of $400.00 and washer is still not repaired , I've been dealing with them since March 29, 2020 and they're not trustworthy I want my money back!
I paid them $89.00 to come out and $311.00 since then they've been out twice still washer wasn't repaired. They said that it's the washer computer which has been sent back and now they're avoiding me, refund please!

Desired Outcome

My $311.00 back so I can put down on a washer and possibly the $89.00 for such an inconvenience to this senior citizen on fixed income and trying to survive all corona stuff, thank you in advance!

Mrs. has not been avoided and has spoke with someone in our office each and every time she has called in. We originally went to her home on 3/30/20 and diagnosed her unit. She however did not want to go through with the repair and choose to pay the service fee. On 4/17/20 after contacting us again she decided to make the repair and paid the remaining balance due to order the part. On 5/15/20 we returned to her home and installed the part. However on 5/17/20 she called in again to let us know the unit had stopped working again. We then returned on 5/21/20 to discover the part we installed was defective from the factory. We warrantied the part and placed the order for a new board. Now here we are experiencing major delays in shipping and making returns due to lost of staff and technicians. On 06/15/20 we reached out to schedule an appointment to return with the part. At this time the customer would not answer our phone calls not allowing us to complete the repair. I understand the length of the call is long, however we did everything we said we would. Mrs. is simply the one holding the repair from being completed and has been the one not to return phone calls. We are still available to install her part when she is ready.

So not true I can't tell you how many times that I've tried to contact them I felt myself getting ill trying to work with them and I had to let my daughter to try to contact them she and I both felt like we were getting the run around. The only way that I would have them to come back to my house it would be with another appliance/difference tech to oversee their work and the a policeman. I have been saving all of the calls from them when they called me saved on my caller ID and I became stress my doctor called me in anxiety medication but I'm still lugging laundry. I feel that I have been more than understanding with them with the pandemic and doing this time I don't have money to throw away very fixed income but I'm still out of $400.00 and the statements they made no truth to it none!

ALC Appliance Repair owes me a refund of $193.32 for a misdiagnosed icemaker replacement that I paid for upfront and did not need.
In early April of 2020 I contacted ALC Appliance Repair about a stuck ice dispensing paddle (what you press your glass to dispense ice). Technician Aden showed up on 4/7/20 to diagnose the problem. He got the paddle unstuck and told me the icemaker itself was bad and needed replaced. I told him the icemaker had been working fine that I had turned it off and emptied it when I was trying to resolve the issue. He insisted is was bad or about to go bad and needed replaced. I trusted him and he ordered the icemaker, dispenser assembly with paddle and 2 water filters for the refrigerator Over the next 24 hours into the next day I was able to test the icemaker and it was working. I called the office the next day on 4/8/20 and cancelled the icemaker and requested a refund for icemaker but still wanted the ice dispensing assembly that included the paddle and the filters. Total bill was $574.86 that was requested to paid in full upfront. I gave him $580.00 cash and told him to keep the change. Over a month later, with several phone calls from me to the office to check on the status during that time he shows up to complete the job, without the icemaker of course because I had cancelled it. He completed the job and I asked him if he had my refund that I requested on 4/8/20. He did not have the refund. He called the owner of this business right in front of me and told the owner he had cash money on him from a previous job and he had enough for my refund. The owner told him to not give me the refund. As of 6/2/20 after many phone calls to this business where "upper management" as Katie the dispatcher calls them, have refused to return my calls. ALC Appliance Repair owes me $193.32 for the cost plus tax for the icemaker they charged me for but was not needed and cancelled. I expect a refund from this company The repair order # is XXXXXXXX.

Desired Outcome

The resolution I am seeking is a prompt refund of the icemaker in the amount of $193.32. It has already been almost 2 months since my first request for this refund.

We had an issue with our Samsung microwave continuing to run after the door was shut. Robert the so called tech, came out and found a broken spring in the door. He asked if we had wire ties and borrowed one and actually filled is tool pouch with more. He said this was temporary fix while spring part was being ordered. This was October 9, 2019. Many calls unanswered and emails not answered and still no part after paying $139.99 for service and year warranty to come back. This is a scam of an outfit and I am thinking Of contacting the Attorney General's Office and reporting them. Do not do business with them.

On March 30, 2020 I called ALC to repair my washer. A technician said they would return/repair. I paid $224.70 and I haven't heard from them since.
On March 30 a technician came out to service my washing machine and said that he would order a part and be back within 7 to 10 days. They took full payment and then never returned or corresponded. I've been unable to get a human being to call me back and need to report these people for fraud to prevent other consumers from being hurt. I want a full refund at this point. Not one call, I've called them three times and sent emails with no avail. It's clear these people have no right to be in business and should have their license stripped immediately.

Desired Outcome

Full Refund

Customer Response • Jun 05, 2020

Company got in touch with me and refunded my payment minus their service fee.

Worst service company I have ever dealt with! I made the mistake of paying for a washing machine part and labor up front on the diagnosis visit on March 6th. Was told the part would be arriving in 3 to 5 days. After waiting over a week and also having an issue with my dryer we decided to replace them both. On March 16th I called and asked for a refund of what was prepaid minus the standard $85 for the initial visit and diagnosis. Also requested a call back from someone other than a dispatcher. On the 17th after no response from several previous calls and emails I called back and was told I would not get a refund for the ordered part $121. I am now $287 in and have nothing in return...and by the way 11 days from the initial visit they still say they don't have the part! And I have yet to get a call back or response to the emails I have sent. The worst service experience ever! Only reason for one star is zero is not an option.

I hired them to fix my washing machine last Monday, paying 300 plus for parts. The technician said that the parts should be in in a couple days. That was 7 days ago. I've called and left voicemails twice without a call back. It

Hired this company to service a broken fridge temp. Charged us $140, and within the hour of them leaving, called to let them know its still not good.
Fridge temps were too high, and freezer were too cold. The technician diagnosed the problem by saying there was a blockage. Within the hour of him leaving, I called to let him know the issue continues and that I did not believe that was it as there was no cold air blowing. He said to wait 24 hours and update him. I called the next day and after discussing back and forth, I asked if when they come back they will apply my original $140 to the service. He said "no because I resolved the issue and you have another issue going on that will require a new service and service fee". This truly stunned me. I saved all our conversations. After leaving reviews, the owner finally called and when we asked for a refund so that we can go with another company, he said he would contact his lawyer. We are now stuck with a broken fridge that does not supply cool temps. I have two young children in the house and worry that they will get sick.

Desired Outcome

We would like a refund so that we can hire a reliable and honest company to come repair our appliance.

ALC Appliance Repair Response • Dec 31, 2019

with business returned call to say the consumer has been granted refund as requested

Yeah absolute worst appliance repair service I have ever worked with if you read their customer reviews the ones that are rated highly are fake and the ones that are one star are telling you the truth they take forever to get the parts out and their customer service is virtually nonexistent every time you call their customer service to give you another story as to why you're applying to still not fixed I would not use the service if it was the last on earth I would go on YouTube and learn how to fix the dryer and order the part yourself because that's probably your best bet.
