Poor and misleading customer service
I called them April 26th for a dryer repair. They arrived on the 26th and diagnosed a broken belt. Told me that it would be done the 29th or 30th. I was charged over $200 for this repair at that time. I did not see or here from them after I called multiple times I was told a technician would me there on MARCH 10TH. the technician arrived around 5 or 6 that Friday night. He did not complete the job that night because he wanted to leave. I was told he would come the next day the 11th to finish and leave the door open for him. He did not show up. I called them today when they would be there to finish it. March 16th is was they told me. 1 day short of 3 weeks and Im still not sure if it will be finished. How can you charge someone fully upfront and then provide this type of service?

Desired Outcome

Finish the job and billing adjustment.

ALC Appliance Repair Response • Jun 10, 2019

This ticket was successfully completed on May 13,2019 at 6:30pm. The appliance was repaired fully just as the customer had paid for.

I hired ALC Appliance Repair to repair my refrigerator, several days later, started having the exact same problem with the refrigerator.
On Febuary 7, 2019, I called ALC Appliance to have my refrigerator Diagnose, the next day a technician came out, and I was told that the refrigerator needs a Bi-metal & heater, and once those parts are replaced the refrigerator would be like new. On Febuary 12, 2019 the technician returned, and replaced the parts.
Unfortunately several days later the refrigerator was doing the exact same thing. When I called about the refrigerator still not working properly, I was told it would be a week, before a technician would be able to come check it out, after a week pass, I called and was told it would be another week, before a technician can come out. Finally on March 19, 2019 a technician showed up, and said that the refrigerator needed a main board, which cost over $300. When I spoke to Mr, *** on March 20, 2019, he said that in rare cases that the main board would have to be replaced, and I told him that we should of had that very important information beforehand, we would have not taking the chance on spending any money getting it repaired, because it would not have been worth it, to take a chance on spending over $500 on that refrigerator. I requested a full refund, and Mr. offered a $125 partial refund, which I was not willing to accept.

Desired Outcome

I would like A Full refund.

ALC Appliance Repair Response • Apr 23, 2019

As stated by Mr., we did offer a partial refund of $125.90 which was for the cost of parts and tax that he paid. The repair was made and the parts were installed, however the unit did have an additonal issue. We advised Mr. and his wife of the additonal issue and they were not willing to move forward with the repair. That is when we offered the partial refund for the parts. We apologized that the unit did require additonal parts, and even offered to pay for the additional part needed. However, Mr. refused our attempts to reslove the issue. Therefore, we are willing to offer a refund of the total amount paid minus the service fee for the first inital visit, resulting in $166.89 being refuned to Mr.. We apologize again and are sorry for inconvenience this has caused.

No attempt from the company to receive the money back that was requested in full as of this day of the conversation April 24th 2019 the amount was $125.90

ALC came to my house ALC 1/14/19. They not order needed stove part until 2/4/19. As of 3/1/19, they still had not fixed stove.
A gas leak was found in my Thor stove 1/14/19. The gas company came and shut gas off immediately. The right front and rear gas valves were found to be leaking. My sister was there and had ALC Appliance Company come because they could come same day. Unfortunately, she did not look at online reviews first. The service fee was $95. Payment was made by check. The tech said that he would order the parts that same day. I never heard back from them and started to call after about a week. I spoke with a female receptionist at XXX-XXX-XXXX. She said that she would send the tech an "alert" and have him check on the part. She failed to call me back several times after saying each time that she would. I had to call her back each time. Each time she said the tech had not gotten back to her. After I had called many times, she told me that I could call the Thor company myself if I wanted to, she would not call them. This was 2/4/19. She texted the Thor Kitchen parts number to me from her cell phone (XXX-XXX-XXXX). I called the Thor parts company myself that day. They were very professional. They said that the parts had never been ordered. I told them in general terms what I needed and had them call ALC. I believe the parts were ordered that day. The ALC receptionist assured me that she would call me when the parts came in. She did not call me back. I called approximately twice a week. Each time, she would say that she sent the tech an "alert" and he did not respond. I asked her if she wouldn't check on the part herself or have someone else do it and she refused. She finally said that she got the part in. I told her that I did not want the tech who would not return any "alerts" to install the part because I did not trust his competence. She said ok and scheduled the appointment for afternoon of 2/25/19. When she scheduled the appointment for 2/25/19, she was clear that it was not to be with the tech who wouldn't return the "alert" and that another tech was available for 2/25/19. I made plans to take off work for the afternoon of 2/25/19. She called and cancelled appointment that morning (2/25/19). She rescheduled for Friday morning-3/1/19. I agreed with that. I called her on Thursday to confirm that the tech would show up on Friday. She said that he would be busy and cancelled Friday appointment. She wanted to reschedule for the following Monday. I fired ALC at that point. I missed fours hours of work Monday afternoon 2/25/19 for FL Dept of Health.

The problem with ALC cancelling appointments was not at all that I requested a different tech from the one who wouldn't return alert. When she made the 2/25/19 and 3/1/19 appointments, the receptionist clearly stated each time that they had a different tech available to do the job.

I have been without a stove for six weeks now. If I had chosen a different company, it would most likely have been repaired within two weeks.

Desired Outcome

Refund of $95 for "service call." This was wasted time. Also compensation of $360 ($90/hr for 4 hours) for missed work on 2/25/18. I had scheduled to be off because ALC said repair tech would be at my house sometime that afternoon. They cancelled that morning.

ALC Appliance Repair Response • Mar 29, 2019

ALC Appliance Repair apologizes for any inconvenience to Mrs.. Due to the restriction placed on the technician, by Mrs. it was time consuming to get a different technician to her home. However, on each scheduled appointment the appropriate technician was coming to her location. On the last attempt to reschedule Mrs. she then refused our service. Due to the time consuming issues with the parts delay and getting the tech to her, we will agree to refund the $95 she paid. However, we are not responsible for any loss of wages resulting from an appliance and/or appointments. Again, we do apologize for the inconveniences Mrs. experienced and she will receive her refund shortly via check in the mail.

I paid in advance for repair and parts. I was promised a repair the middle of the following week. Was not notified that there would be a delay. Called 3 times, no good answer. They have my money, now will not do the repair. Do not do business here.

Service provider required up-front payment for repair parts. Promised refund of cost of parts ordered, not needed or used.
Requested service for refrigerator on 9-12-18. Tech Robert came out 9-13-18 said he needed $514.41 in order to pay for parts to repair refrigerator. Repair Order #XXXXXXXX. Returned on 10-8-18 to make repairs, advised one of three parts not needed, would refund cost of not needed part, which was $77.39. First call to the office to inquire when the refund would be made was answered by Katie who said refund request had been submitted to home office, would take "about 3 weeks." Subsequent visit to provider's office on 10-10-18 indicated provider was no longer at this address (4400 Bayou Blvd., Unit 21, Suite B, Pensacola, Fl.)

Desired Outcome

I would like to have a refund of the $77.39 I paid them for a part not needed or used in the repair of my refrigerator.

Mr., we apologize for this error and we are taking care of this immediately. Due to Hurricane Michael we experienced some software issues and your refund was not processed. Your refund will be issued and we apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for reaching out and making us aware of this issue.

Additional Information received from the consumer on 11/13/18 ***

I just thought I would let you know as of today, November 13, I have not heard back from ALC Appliance Repair about a promised refund of $77.39 from a repair dated September 13, nor have I received any refund. I paid them by check for the total cost of the parts they said they needed to repair my refrigerator.

You will recall their original apology was due to "hurricane Michael" (which did not affect the Pensacola area), so it would not surprise me if this extended delay is due to the vote re-count in South Florida.

I definitely do not recommend this repair firm to anyone.

Thanks much for your help.

Still waiting for my refund from ALC Appliance Repair. I'm assuming from their response that it will be another 3 weeks before I hear from them. Not going to use them in the future.

Thanks for your help.

***

In response to ACL's assertion that they are taking immediate attention regarding my request for a refund for prepaid services not performed or needed, I am satisfied with their verbal response but am withholding final acceptance pending receipt of the refund in the amount of $77.39.

I will notify Revdex.com of Northwest Florida, Inc. via email upon receipt of ACL's refund on the date the refund is received.

Thank you very much.

Customer Response • Nov 19, 2018

I received a check in the mail today from ALC Appliance Repair dated November 12 for $77.39.

Thanks again for your help in resolving this issue.

Regards

Poorly run company; poor service. In door Icemaker went out in our refrigerator. ALC came out and based only on what I told the technician (no hands on), Robert determined the problem was the auger motor assembly. Using his smart phone, he informed me the part was discontinued. After I paid him $85 for the visit, I researched online and found the part at multiple sites. Also verified online and with call to Samsung that the part was not discontinued. Left three phone messages with ALC between 7/23/18 - 8/1/18 and never got a return call. Emailed them using their website link on 8/7/18 and received no response to that. I am now out $85 and will have to pay another appliance repair company for a service visit.

Service not completed and new parts not refunded or used. The parts were not given to me either.
contracted ALC to repair a washing machine. ALC came out looked at the machine did not take it apart and stated it was the spider flange. A new flange was ordered which took 3 weeks to get. ALC came out to installed the flange and the flange in the machine was not broken, the bearing was bad. So now ALC had to order a new bearing. ALC returned again to installed the new bearing and doing so messed up the new bearing by improper installation procedure. ALC then refused to complete the repair. I was told a refund for the parts would be sent to me and I never received any refund. The refund amount should be $362.00. This amount is minus tax and the service charge. ALC will not return my calls. Repair order dated 2-8-2018. LG front loading washing machine. I paid a total of $472.94. Chris was the technician and the repair order number is XXXXXXXX. I talked with the owner and he told me the refund takes up to 3 weeks to process, that was in March 2018.

Desired Outcome

Refund in the amount of $362.00. This amount is minus taxes and service charge which I don't feel I should have to pay, but at this point I will do whatever to get my refund.
