All Pro Painting Reviews (3)

Don S*** owner of All Pro Painting contracted the painting
of the interior walls 1st floor and lower level and the staining and finishing
of the all the wood windows and door jams I have submitted copies of these contracts.
I have many photos to document my complaint, but I was limited on the number
that I could submit.
1. Additional
coats of paint. When Don was rolling
on the first coat I told him that the paint was not FLAT because it had a sheen
to it like a satin finish. I raised this
issue repeatedly during the time that he was putting the paint on the
walls. He told me it looked flat to
him. When the second coat was finished I
continued to bring to his attention that the finish was not flat. I wanted a flat finish. I do not like a reflective paint anywhere. He continued to assert that the finish was
flat. I called the manufacturer ***
paint and had their representative look at the finish on my walls. He agreed that it was NOT flat and offered to
replace all the paint and pay for the labor to repaint the affected areas. I ask Don to give me a price to redo the
areas that did not have a satisfactory flat finish. I was there with him when he looked around
for several minutes and said $would cover the labor to redo the areas that
had a satin finish not a flat finish There
was no fourth coat Don was paid $
for this additional paint work and *** Paints reimbursed me. Don did not do any work for "free"
2. Lower Level issues
were poor workmanshipThe walls had places where the paint coverage looked
very poor and was visible from everywhere in the room leaving a very blotchy
appearance. Don was very nice about
redoing the lower level to fix the many imperfections in the paint job It did require a complete 3rd coat and I paid
for the paint. It was not a perfect final job as there still
remains a couple of places that just look dirty to me. The window frames in this lower level were
not completed by Don and was part of the contract he quoted. During
the lower level painting which included the ceiling, I saw his help simply
paint around the can lights instead of pulling them down to have a better
finish. This short cut is evident in
most of the areas in my home that require removing mounted fixtures for a good
finished appearance.
3. The door jams
that he refers to were not painted, but stained. They are the double doors between the office
and the great room. These are the same doors that the finish coat on the
door itself is missing paint - places that have primer only. My contractor is *** *** and this work was
not done to his satisfaction or mine. When this was brought to Don's
attention and he told me to hire ***
Wolf to replace and refinish them and he would pay for the cost of ***'s time
and material. *** *** gave me the bill of $to replace and refinish
the staining of the jams. Don paid
me for this expense.
4. Office paint Don S*** partially painted the office. He cut in the ceiling and around the doors
and windows. He did not put any finish
coat on the walls. I have hired someone
to finish this part of the job.
5. Pantry counter
tops and mirror finish SS sink. I
brought to Don's attention all of the paint spatter that was on the base boards
of my master bedroom and on the countertops in my pantry I cleaned off the baseboards in the bedroom. He had
a worker clean this off of the pantry areas.
Unfortunately, he used a scouring pad and scratched the laminate tops and the mirror finish on
the sink. I ask for the $check back
that I had just handed to him and he said , "that isn't necessary, just
get the tops and sink replaced and I will write you a check for the cost"
I did replace the tops and sink. I went with a cheaper top than what was there
originally to keep the cost as low as possible The original was more expensive because I had
a custom size - (25" instead of 24") and a finished edge across the
back because it is mounted free across a window which is on the front of my
house. Because I always have a blind
down on this window, I decided it was an unnecessary expense with no real value
to me I trusted him and we had a good
relationship at that time. When I texted him the cost to replace and
install, I never heard from him again After trying to contact him for several weeks without
success, I ask *** *** to contact him for me. When *** ***
contacted him, he reported back to me that Don did not intend to come back and
finish repairing anything or paying for the replacement of the tops and sink
I still have the counter tops and sink that his worker damaged and
pictures to document and support my claims. The pictures of the
countertops are hard to get so I have retained the actual tops for
inspection.
All of these items of damage and poor workmanship were addressed
with Don S*** and he agreed to make it right, by coming back and finishing the
repairs to the job. (The only thing that I mentioned in my complaint that
I did not bring to his attention is the orange soda that was spilled on the
carpet, because I had no actual proof that it was his workerHowever, they
were the only contractors working in my lower level at that time and I
mentioned it to be completely forth coming and accurate about all of my issues
with Don S***.)
I should not be penalized for paying Don S*** before I saw
some of these things or for not stopping payment on the checks. I pay all my bills and obligations promptly As with most contracts for labor and construction, I
expected at least a day window to "discover" things that may not
be done or done satisfactorily. I trusted him when he assured me that he would
come back and make these things right He
assured me that he would take care of paying to replace the counter tops and
the sink and come back to finish and correct the places that I pointed out I believed him.
My contractor, *** ***, has told me three or four separate
occasions, that he regrets hiring Don S*** owner of ALL PRO PAINTING to do the
painting in my house and that he will never use him again. He further has apologized to me for the
problems I have experienced with him because he is the one who chose him to do
the work *** *** stated to me again on
Oct2014, that he will stand with me in this complaint against Don S***
and his company All Pro Painting. *** *** is unhappy with how he has treated me and the quality of his work on
my house. He does not think he lived up to his obligation on this job and
his work is not satisfactory. *** *** understands that I am particular
about the quality of work and the finish, but not any more particular than he
would be on his own house. *** and I have never had an issue over
anything on this extensive remodeling project of my home, so I think it follows
that I am not an unreasonable person to work for. Particular, yes. Unreasonable, no.
I am an unhappy customer and I need $to hire another contractor to
finish these repairs.
Regards,
*** ***

I find myself in awe regarding the complaint filed against my companyI was hired by ***'s contractor to do a job and was then later hired by *** to paint the walls
with coatsIn order to make the customer happy I ended up painting coats of paint at no extra chargeI also
painted some doors that were not part of the contracted job
at no cost to the customerAfter realizing she was going to continue having me paint items that were not part of the contracted job and that I was not going to be paid for
them I decided that my continued services were not in my best interestAt the end of the contracted job I was paid for services renderedIt is my company policy to not be
paid until the customer and I do a walk through and receive payment when the customer is satisfied with the completed workI was contacted by *** a couple
weeks after completion of the contracted job regarding one of the door jams I had painted for free and because I was unable to find time in my schedule to fix it I agreed
to reimburse her the cost of the repair and gave her $to cover the costThe items that are listed in her complaint were never brought to my attention at that timeI have
built my business on my reputation and I am very upset that she is trying to tarnish it. During my time at ***'s home I can guarantee I caused none of the issues
mentioned in the complaint
I will be more than happy to provide letters of recommendation from previous customers in order to clear my name
Thank You,
Donald S***
