Attached letter response and invoices scan # 769 shows original invoice, scan 770 and 771 has additional parts and or cost we have to fix his vehicle at no cost and also we refund $50.00 that Mr. [redacted] left for emission test on MVD

Thank you for your attention

I.m still having the same problems with the transmission that I was having before they did any work on it. I don't believe they ever totally rebuilt the transmission like they said they were going to.

The reason why Mr. [redacted] came to AM...

Transmission is because he had problems with his transmission. We put the scanner to read the codes. These are the codes that were found; gear ratio error in third, fault immediately after a shift, underdrive solenoid circuit error. After the diagnostic we gave Mr. [redacted] an estimate of $300.00 for RDI (remove, disassemble and inspect transmission). The transmission was opened in front of him. The customer was told that the price is $975.00 for the rebuilt transmission plus parts and torque converter. This is an estimate that he approved after we disassembled the transmission in front of Mr. [redacted]. We explained that his transmission was completely destroyed and we let him know we needed to replace the hard parts, which would be an additional $268.00. The cost for the torque converter is $396.00. His truck had other problems, the rear main seal and oil pan were leaking and we gave him and estimate of $139.00 without labor cost until this point all job was approved by Mr. [redacted]. After we rebuilt the transmission and installed and filled up with transmission oil, we sent the truck to the dealership to reprogram the computer and they told us they cannot reprogram the PCM because it was damaged, and has another code from fuel level sensor and we fixed that without additional charges. However fixing that they are unable to reprogram the PCM. We called Mr. [redacted] and let him know that we have to replace the PCM and we gave him the cost for a new PCM from the dealership and Mr. [redacted] told us it was too much money and he can’t afford it .We helped him giving phone numbers to where he will be able to find a used computer because he told us he really need his truck soon. We explained to him before he bought the PCM that there is no warranty on used parts and parts provided by customers. And also the dealership doesn’t give any warranty. He called to get a price; he brought it and brought it to us. We took the truck to the dealership to reprogram and the dealership told us they cannot give us any warranty due to it is a used part. We explain that to Mr. [redacted] and he agreed. We did a Quick Learn and the truck was working correctly. After that Mr. [redacted] returned upset saying that the truck had the same problem and he did not want us to return the truck until the truck worked fine. He did not give us a time to fill out more information and left the keys. We inspected the truck and the technician called Mr. [redacted] and tried to explain to him about the problems. It was the used PCM and Mr. [redacted] told him he doesn’t care about anything he just wants his truck back working fine. The technician called to Mr. [redacted] again to say that he needs to come so he can show him that the computer was not working. Mr. [redacted] came and took the computer and told him he is going to get another one from the same place were he bought it. Until today he never return with another PCM. His truck is still here, he does not answer any of our calls. We cannot help anymore if he does not respond to us.

To Whom It May Concern:

The initial estimate that AM Transmission gave to Mr. [redacted] was $900.00 which includes remanufactured transmission only but his transmission needed additional repairs, like torque converter, his transmission core, shift kit, oil pan gasket wich is not a transmission item and transmission mount his total was $2,504.25 which include tax and shop supplies and Mr. [redacted] paid only $2,300.00 cash. AM Transmission does not perform any job without customer approval.

Mr. [redacted] came to AM Transmission to have his transmission repaired for his cargo van. During the time that his vehicle was in service there were no other problems noticed under a visual inspection after the tech performed repairs necessary. A few days later his van had returned to have it checked for a noise between the engine and transmission. After further inspection it was found that the flywheel had a crack that was causing the noise. It is a false statement where a technician states that the flywheel is a transmission part, which is why the flywheel replacement was an additional repair, which was not charged at full cost. The total cost for this was $652.46 Mr. [redacted] paid only $200.00

If Mr. [redacted] is trying to reach to [redacted], sometimes he is not at the business or is doing another business and he can’t answer his phone calls. Mr. [redacted] has to call directly to AM Transmission, which phone number is on his invoice.

The recent visit that we had of Mr. [redacted] was due to a small transmission leak from the transmission pan gasket area but his transmission was in fully working conditions with not a single problem; this is known because the vehicle was road tested prior to inspection. The day that it was brought into the shop was a Saturday, which our transmission parts store is closed on Saturday’s. The next time the customer came in was on veteran’s day, which they are also closed. True we could have purchased a gasket from an Autozone, but the material and quality of the gasket is very poor and results in bigger leaks. All our transmission parts are only purchased at transmission parts suppliers. AM Transmission called Mr. [redacted] and explained he did not finish his job and he was upset and said he is going send his wife to pick up and hung up. After his wife come and pick up their vehicle AM Transmission explained her why we do not finish with the job and gave her the option to bring it back or leave it and she said she would take the van. Due to the very busy schedule our customer has, it is inconvenient for him to leave the vehicle to have it repaired. I will gladly take an appointment for the customer to have his vehicle scheduled for service to return his vehicle in proper conditions during a Monday-Friday 8am-4pm schedule to give him priority into this repair.

Sincerely,

Manager

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

as far as the response I'm not happy specially when being lied too I will not take my vehicle back to their shop I tried their shop number and their cell phone and to prove It you can look up the reviews and see the complaints about them not answering their phone plus if they are going to mention parts inside the transmission as far as I know a transmission repair is a transmission repair so what exactly was I quoted $900 for ? If its the same transmission and just rebuilt shouldn't that cover what I was quoted ? And no I wasn't aware of hidden charges I had agreed to $400 more and at the end it was $2400 also I have tooken my van to a mechanic shop and the flywheel definitely has to be removed to repair the trans from the looks of it looks like it was pried on and not to mention the sensor plug they broke and my dash board gages going crazy in two different visits to the shop and they still have me believe they didn't do it till I had to follow the wire that broke the sensor that led to the trans then they assumed they did it and replaced it and they installed the wrong sensor that made my gages go crazy and again it wasn't their fault but then found out the sensor was the wrong one so out of experience I will not have them work on my vehicle I have lost severly a lot of time and money I will proceed as far as I need to so I can resolve this issue

Review: I took my BMW 545i to AM Transmissions on 6/12/14 to get a diagnosis of my ac not working and blowing out "cool" air but not cold. The owner [redacted] told me that my ac compressor was bad and he could replace it with a NEW compressor he would but from [redacted]. He claimed it was better price from [redacted] than buying from the local BMW dealer so I agreed to the repair. He would charge me $900 to replace with a new compressor and recharge the system with freon. I agreed to the charge and he would need to order the new compressor so I set an appointment for the next morning to get the repair done. I paid him $95.00 for the diagnosis and he would credit that when I returned for the repair the next day. I took my car in the next morning at 7:30 am and was told he would be done by 3 pm. I returned at 4pm and was told [redacted] had sent the wrong compressor and he showed me a new compressor and said it was the wrong model. I would need to return the next day so I did. The next day dropped the car off again and a few hours later his son [redacted] called me and said the new compressor was defective and he would again have to order a new one. It was a Friday afternoon and he would not have it until Monday morning but he would have my car done on Monday. I left my car there for the weekend because it was too hot in Phoenix in June to drive with no ac so agreed to leave it in his shop for the weekend. On Monday afternoon I received a call that he would be done by 4 pm. I arrived at 4:30 just before they closed and they were not done with the car. I waited until after 5pm and finally they said it was done. They charged me the remaining $805.00 on my credit card and gave me my car, on my drive home I immediately noticed the ac was still blowing out cool and not cold, I returned to the shop but they were closed and no one around. I went home and opened the hood and immediately noticed it was my old AC compressor that was still in the car. My old compressor was old, worn, dirty and had a piece of the pulley missing. The "new compressor" he charged me for was dirty, used, worn and also missing the same piece of pulley. I got under the car and could clearly see the BMW sticker on the compressor that NO PARTS from [redacted] will have the original BMW logo on it. I knew he had ripped me off and charged me for work he never completed. I called [redacted] the next day and told him we had a problem and he hung up on me. I called right back and told him I was calling the police and had proof he has cheated me and charged me for a part he did not replace. He apologized and said it was possible they replaced with a rebuilt compressor and for me to return and he would replace it. I told him there is no rebuilt compressor and it was my old part, not rebuilt or new as my receipt clearly states that all parts are "new". He again said for me not to call the police and he would get a new compressor and replace it and give me my old part back as proof. I told him NO I did not trust him or his son and I would be crazy to take my car back to him after he lied and tried to rip me off. I would not give him an opportunity to touch my car again and perhaps do something to my car for calling him out on this. He had a chance to earn a customer for life and he chose to steal and cheat me from day one! He never installed a new part as I paid and his excuse that it was rebuilt is also a lie they do not sell rebuilt kits for the BMW compressor they have to be replaced and I have pictures and proof that he lied. To this day I still have my old compressor on the car and bad AC because I can't take it to another shop and have it replaced until this matter is resolved with my bank. I am sick and tired of owners like [redacted] looking to cheat and steal from honest people.Desired Settlement: Refund me the full amount of $805.00 I am not disputing the charge for his diagnosis of $95.00 he can keep that even though I should get that back as well. He needs to stop lying to his customers and issue my bank a full refund. I will be going to the news media and social media as well as file a police report for theft if he does not refund my $805.00

Response:

Mr.[redacted] came in on June 11,2014 and he was concern about his A/C not coming out cold only cool air. Am Transmission is not lying to customers and the warranty is stated on the invoice. A.M Transmission never denied the warranty that was given. The customer decided go to another Automotive shop.

The compressor is rebuilt: it is the original compressor that Mr. [redacted] had when he first came in the shop. The clutch a/c pulley does not come new when we rebuilt a compressor and Mr. [redacted] told us that he broke the a/c pulley before came to AM Transmission.

This customer has warranty. A.M. Transmission never refused to check the problem when the customer said the problem wasn’t fixed. A.M. Transmission installed a new a/c condenser with a new expansion valve. We ordered the compressor from [redacted] and they sent us the wrong parts and after they sent us the wrong one , [redacted] told us they don’t have the compressor for that car and we sent the compressor to get rebuilt and that is not 3 hours worth of labor. To do the complete job is 7-8 hours labor

Absolutely terrible service. I was ripped off for $75. I dropped my car off early in the morning and told them what was wrong and what I wanted fixed. They had all day to fix but because they were not able to get to my car I was charged a diagnostic fee because they did not have time to fix it the same day. The people were rude from the receptionist, mechanic, and owner. This is a terrible place and warn everybody off possible getting ripped off doing business with these people. Also they are very dishonest people they say one thing and do not keep their word.

Review: This business charged me $1300 April 19 to fix my transmission. April 30th, a year later, they charged me $869 to fix transmission again. I am supposed to have a 2 year warranty.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $2,168. I need to take the vehicle to another shop so they can properly repair the transmission. On August 31, 2013, the transmission broke once again.

Response:

On April 07 2012 [redacted] received a remanufactured

transmission from AM Transmission. The

total amount paid was $1300 with torque converter and a 2 year unlimited mile warranty

included. Ms. [redacted] was also advised

to install a transmission cooler.

The following year on April 17 2013 Ms. [redacted] arrived

stating the she had problems with her transfer case (which she had brought

already removed from the truck) which was not included on the previous

transmission repair. The transfer case

is a independent component from the transmission. The repairs made on the previous invoice are

for the transmission only. After the

transfer case repairs had been made AM Transmission installed the transfer case

back on the truck.

On 08 /31 /2013 Ms.

[redacted] called AM Transmission to notify us that she and her truck were

stranded near [redacted], ** due to the transmission leaking fluid. Unfortunately our warranty does not cover

towing and we offered that we would be able to help her bring her truck back to

[redacted], she would only have to pay fuel fees but had to wait until Monday, for

the day she called was on a Saturday afternoon.

Ms [redacted] refused to wait until Monday and spoke with [redacted] and

told him that she drove the truck from [redacted], **. After that she

changed the statement saying that she had the truck towed. But she brought the truck to the shop driving.

Following the arrival of the SUV we had the truck lifted to

inspect for transmission fluid leaks. We

found a gear oil leak from the transmission and removed the transmission pan

and found the transmission filled with gear oil instead of automatic

transmission fluid. Ms. [redacted] was

notified of this and did not accept the fact that it had gear oil in her

transmission. Proof is available of the

transmission having a full level amount of gear oil.
