American Enterprises International, Inc Reviews (27)

Review: USFSA installed detectors in my home, I cancelled contract in my 3day period sent letter to American Enterprise also of cancellation in the 3day period. I received an invoice from American Enterprise stating I have a am amount due. I called American Enterprise to ask why was I receiving an invoice when this contract was cancelled. I was told I could not cancel this contract.Desired Settlement: I have cancelled this contract. I do not want to receive any invoices or statements from American enterprise; nor any negative reports on my credit.

Business

Response:

American Enterprises is an independent finance company that finances the direct sales industry. Cancellations must be done through the sales company. We have confirmed that this contract was cancelled with the sales company to their satisfaction, and we are closing the account with no reporting to credit bureaus.

Review: I went into a contract for a water filtration system for $500. The contract calls for a monthly payment of $30 from my bank account. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of setting up the same payment schedule with my bank online. Hence the company receives two payments from July to Sep 2014. I believe I am entitled to a refund of my over-payment of $90.Desired Settlement: Refund back the over-payment.

Business

Response:

Mr. [redacted] has made three double payments. He was given erroneous information when he called for a refund. We will gladly send him the $90 extra that he has paid on the account to date. We will call him and let him know. Thanks.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. In addition, please listen to the complaint objectively before defending your position. It did not mean I was satisfied with your first response. Thanks anyway.

Regards,

[redacted]. My husband and I were convinced to by a $3000 Vacuum and Air Filter Stem. At the time I was not working and my husband was working with minimal pay as I was in and out of the hospital fighting a severe autoimmune disease. We contacted American Enterprises to let them k ow that we would be making short payments through our difficult time. They could care less they said and began reporting negatively to both mine and my husbands credit, They have reported us Negative/Late 18 times. I asked what I had to do to get them to reverse the negative reporting and they said to"Pay Them Off." I asked if they would put in writing that they would reverse the negative reporting to our credit and they said they would not do that. They were rude, raising voices and hanging up. St that point I said a few choice words myself. These people are completely unreasonable and have absolutely no empathy. NEVER GET A LINE OF CREDIT THROUGH THESE STRONG-ARMING GANGSTERS. THEY ARE RUDE AND RUIN YOUR CREDIT AND LIFE IF THEY CAN. EMPLOYEE OWNED, EMPLOYEES WHO ACT LIKE IT IS THEIR OWN MONEY THEY ARE COLLECTING.

Review: I went into contract with AEI without knowing that the "sale

and any problems had to go through AEI and that IF I returned the product after the 3 days I am stuck paying the bill even if the product is defective! I was told by them that IF I was able to return items they'd be considered a "repossession"and I have to pay either way! I was called after talking to Carrie there and she basically insisted I set up an auto draw after I had called to state the problems with [redacted] and I also left messages to them to add my son on the list for credit benefits never gave his SS but then I also called a day or two after telling them I was NOT paying for stuff that doesn't work right and at that point I had called Carrie at [redacted] several times and she would NOT respond! I was told that people have tried going thru the Revdex.com to get things resolved. Then after all the replacing of the 2 units and calling [redacted] yet more times as the smells of dead animal and garbage were still present(telling Carrie to get her products out and severing the contract) she gave me her cell to contact her. I call again and get Carmen and not only did she get nasty with me and insist I have to pay for stuff that is not working properly and that it'd go against my credit and that I should have called them to tell them of ALL the problems of the purchase and I am to report to them IF there are issues. They are the finance company, not the manufacturer! I was NOT made aware that I needed to do that and I asked her on the contract why was I not informed of this and the 3 day when they called to confirm I had the products in home did they NOT state this? There is 3 different dates on contracts! Demo was March 29,2015 vac. and on defender was left, the other 2 came in on April6,2015 and shortly after the original defender(air cleaner) and the one other were replaced and calls began to [redacted] again due to offensive smells....AEI don't care if the products are not working , only want the money.Desired Settlement: sever the contract go after [redacted] or who ever they send the moneys to and my credit as well as my sons is NOT affected PERIOD!

They are not to take any money out of my account and reprimand for being sneaky in getting (forcing) the information to be done NOW after the call I made and spoke to a person by the name of Carrie there.

Response:

We are sorry the buyer is unhappy with the purchase. American Enterprises is a direct sales finance company with no relationship with the sales company other than we purchase their contracts from time to time. Before a purchase, we verify the terms of the contract with the buyer, which in the case of Ms. [redacted], we did on April 7th at 9:28 a.m. At that time Ms. [redacted] did not express any concerns about the purchase, and verified the terms and that she had the merchandise and answered our security question of her mother's maiden name as [redacted]. The three day cancellation period is clearly stated on the contract, and our contact with Ms. [redacted] was well after the expiration of that period of time. We purchased the merchandise for Ms. [redacted], and we cannot get our money back unless the dealer that sold her the merchandise agrees to cancel the sale and refund us.

Response:

Okay, so beings that [redacted] and affiliates WILL not take back their stuff are you going to still hold me liable for this debt? Here is why I ask, After ALL the letters and calls I have sent to Revdex.com & Consumer Protection, and yourpromise to "drop the liability of this debt IF [redacted] takes their products back....Now If you understand that I don't feel I should PAY for ANY of it after ALL of the back and forth on the smells and them NOT calling or responding to the Original complaint until AFTER I called and told her to come get her stuff and sever thecontract as they seam to not care if it works properly. As the calls I made to your office LONG before the due date and yes after the 3 day, but the 3 day came and wentwhen they set up the contract with you & I and I was told "it is to late" I also told you that I should NOT have to pay for product that does not do as stated or demo showing stated. It really does not smell in either my or my sister's apt. after we STOPPED the use of the air cleaners. So, If it is true these machines are made for medical cleanliness of the air we breath it has NOT happen in this case even after she brought 2 said "new" units. They also seam to not care IF they work right or not as when their rep came in and he stated he could not smell as his allergies were inflamed due to a service job he'd just donethe day prior, I had to sniff and tell....(I'd already told him and others prior) what I could smell on the units. He refused to replace ANY of the filters or charcoal wraps at that time as well.told me they needed to be replaced about every 2wks and in the demo, It was stated it would a yr. and 99.00 for the filter, no quote on the wraps, or that they'd have to be changed so often. So in this I feel ALL was misrepresented in every way. Had they stood behind the products things would be different.SO, all this said, I feel you should go after [redacted] and affiliates to regain the monies you put out and maybe then they will come to get their units from my home.

Response:

If we can obtain any concessions from [redacted] we will pass them along to you. In the meantime, we have reduced your total finance charge by 50%, from 973.96 to 486.98, which reduces your monthly payment to $89.43 from $102.96, and your APR from 21% to to 10.87%.

Review: I bought a set of cookware after a demonstration in January of 2013. I was told that I could finance the purchase, but it wasn't considered a loan and wouldn't be reported to the credit bureaus unless I requested it. They lied: they did check my credit and it is currently on my credit report as an installment loan. I was also told verbally that the interest rate would be 5% APR and was never told anything else. They were hurried to get a group of us to sign our purchase and financing forms, so we did not have time to read everything. I was never sent a statement, but received emails that said my statement was available online. I could never view a true statement, until today, and could never see the interest rate, only the set payment and the full balance remaining. Today I was finally able to see a true statement and instead of the 5% APR I was assured, they are charging me 18% APR. I called today to give them the opportunity to fix the mistake. I was only told that regardless of what the sales people told me, the interest rate was in the fine print of my contract. They bold faced lied to me, multiple times and never sent me a copy of my contract. Regardless of what the fine print said, I want the company held liable for what they told me I would be receiving.Desired Settlement: Change my interest rate, retroactively, to 5% APR and correct my current bill.

Business

Response:

American Enterprises is a consumer finance company that purchases contracts in the direct sales industry. We are sorry that Ms. [redacted] feels that the interest rate on the contract was not disclosed properly, although it was disclosed on the credit application that she signed. To date, we have added $260.23 to the account for interest charges. Instead of recalculating retroactively to the 5% rate that she feels was disclosed to her, we will reverse out the entire $260.23, and set her account up for a 5% interest rate going forward.

We have no relationship to the sales company, other than we buy contracts from them from time to time.

Sincerely,

American Enterprises

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: Never sent bill and I was 15 days late. Got collections after me. Never had an account number or address to pay bill to. Now took 2 weeks to send bill so in one month late penalty on 69.00 payment is a fee of 89.59! Rude. Hangs up on me. Refused to let me talk to supervisor. I paid 1857.00 and they want 89.59 for one month late fee. CRAZY. THE OWN THE WORLD!!!!Desired Settlement: RETURN THE 89.59 AND APOLOGIZE.

Business

Response:

We were under the impression that the customer wanted to receive their monthly statement electronically through our "go green" program. Since it appears that the buyer would have paid in full prior to their first due date if they would have received a statement in the mail, we will mark the account as paid in full. The balance we are writing off is $80.59, which is made up of a $10 late charge, $70.56 interest charge, and $.03 that was the remaining principal balance on the account after the buyer's payment of $1857.00.

Review: I contacted the company to try and resolve the issue that I do not want their equipment in my home. The person on the phone "[redacted]" was rude, unwilling to negotiate or even attempt to hear me out. He continued to talk over me and would not listen. I informed him that I did not want the services they provided, I wanted the equipment removed, and my account to stop being debited. I informed him that if he did not do this I would seek legal action against the company. Through this entire process he talked louder than me, did not listen, refused to help me in any fashion.Desired Settlement: I want the equipment removed from my home, I want my account to not be debited from them (monthly), and I want the business to not contact me in any way shape or form in the future. I want my account closed and all funds refunded if at all possible.

Response:

American Enterprises is a direct sales finance company. We have no relationship with the sales company other than we finance their customers from time to time. We have financed their sales for many years with no problems. We verified over the telephone with the buyer on 1/6/14 before financing the purchase of the alarms, including asking the buyer for their mother's maiden name, which they provided as Ladd. We are sorry that Mr. [redacted] is unhappy with his purchase, however we paid the sales company based on his verification of his purchase and the terms of the contract. We have no authorization to cancel a sale that we did not initiate. Please let us know if there are any more questions. Thanks.

Response:

We will have a customer service representative get the information to the customer that he requests.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. To a degree. Their customer service is still horrible, my issue was not resolved or even discussed, they simply stated I am a large company, you will do what I want or I will ruin your credit. I find this unacceptable, I find the their lack of trying to help or understanding unacceptable.

Al and all I will not do business with this company, I will continue to pay my bills with them until I can handle this legally via a lawyer.
