We do allow our members to freeze their membership for financial and or health reasons, it is the responsibility of the member to contact a ***/ employee to complete paperwork, when *** *** did not receive a call back she should not have assume it was taken care of (as I explained to ** ***
we are very diligent about re-turning calls with hours) Without proper documentation a freeze can not be done and a balance can not be removed

While I understand the contractual obligations having signed I feel the commotion at the marketing table was understaffed, to focused on giving out T-shirts and getting signatures in a min break period while at workThis program was either understaffed, under trained, or poor business practice in general to get membershipsFor those reasons I feel it was injustThis appears to be a common found complaint for this companySo my fear is this is a known business tatic and wish my voice to be heard

I have attempted to contact and left multiple voice mails with no availI will not pay for a membership I did not use after I cancelledThe employee told me to cancel early I had to either move certain mileage away or pay cancellation fee which was $***I paid said fee and went on with my lifeIf their was a mistake made by the employee then that is something you need to address but it is wrong for my to suffer for the mistake of your companyAgain I will be satisfied when this account is removed from my credit report and American family fitness agrees I do not owe them this extreme amount of moneyI feel that if amfam saw that it had been over a month since I visited the gym that I should have atleast received a courtesy call to ask if something was wrongThis is very bad business practice and unfair to your patrons

[redacted] is the most recent agreement initiated in July, 2015.  It has an expiration date of July, 2018 which is why the agreement is set to expire on that date.  The $** is the annual maintenance fee which was also agreed upon in this agreement.  This fee is withdrawn on the same...

date each year per the agreement.  Mr [redacted] stated that he had moved and we are able to cancel this membership for permanent relocation as long as we can be provided proof of permanent relocation that is 25 miles from our location.  A list of acceptable items of proof can be found on our website and/or I am able to send them to Mr. [redacted].  He will not be subject to the $[redacted] cancellation fee since he is outside of his original term with American Family Fitness.  We would cancel the agreement once we received the proof and it was processed.

The membership for [redacted] has not been canceled.  Member may either email cancellation request or come into the club location of her choice to cancel.  Balance on account is $[redacted].**.  [redacted]

The cancellation was completed on 8/5/14 with a renewal date of 8/24/14.  The renewal terms outline that a 30 day notice is required to cancel and buyer owes all payments until proper cancellation procedures have been followed.  The 10 day prior to notice rule is applicable...

To Whom it May Concern,This letter is regarding customer complaint of [redacted].  [redacted] signed a 24 month membership agreement on 3/07/2013.  She was informed by our billing department that the terms of her agreement did not allow early termination of membership.  After she...

stopped payment and billing department could no longer draft her account, she was sent to collections.  We offered to provide her with a 12 month membership including tanning at no charge if she settled with collection company.  We pride ourselves with having more working gym equipment than any other gym in the Metro east.  Any equipment in need of repair is handled as soon as club receives parts and technicians are available.  Cleaning is an ongoing responsibility.  We do have a cleaning staff and strive to stay on top all cleaning tasks.  We obligate our club to be open and available for members to use.  We have kept that obligation. The member signed a legally binding contract to be a member for one year.  We can freeze a membership payments for two months at no cost as a convenience for hardship purposes such as unemployment.  In the membership agreement it is signed off on where the member understands the ways...

that they are allowed to terminate the agreement early.  One of those reasons is a 3-day cancellation policy.  For this exact reason of a buyer feeling that they made a purchase that they are not satisfied with or if they don't understand everything in their agreement, they have 3 business days to read over everything and change their mind for  a full refund if they choose within that first three day window after signing.  Other than that if a member moves more than 25 miles away from our facilities and can show proof we will allow them to pay $100.00 cancellation fee to cancel early.  The other reason is medical disability.  If a member is unable to workout for 30 days or more and their doctor fills out our medical disability form and signs off on the member being unable to exercise we will freeze the membership for that length of time or cancel the agreement at no cost.  We do not have clauses to cancel an agreement for a member not being with their girlfriend anymore even if they are the co-signer.  We do not have clauses to cancel an agreement for non-usage or job loss.  The freeze can be put in place to help for a couple of months.  The agreement has all of this information in it and it is signed off on and a copy is given to the new member as a receipt showing purchase of the membership.  We cannot prematurely cancel the agreement unless it is for one of the reasons listed on the signed agreement.  We are still happy to freeze your membership upon coming in the facility or written response to do so to the club for up to two months at no charge.  Please let us know if we can do that for you.  If we do not hear from you your membership will remain active with monthly dues drafted on your normal bill date.  Thank you.

Business Bureau:I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I do not possess a copy of the cancellation paperwork of a gym membership that has been closed for over two years, nor do I possess a copy of our original contract.  Since payments ceased after I signed the cancellation paperwork at American Family Fitness, I believed the membership to be terminated with all debts paid.Furthermore, the only payment I was late on during my seven year membership with American Family Fitness was in 2011.  I switched banking institutions from [redacted] to [redacted] and forgot to update my recurring payment information with American Family Fitness.  American Family Fitness notified me with a late payment notice via the [redacted] and the issue was resolved immediately.  I received no such notice because from American Family Fitness at any time from September of 2014 to January of 2015 nor did I stop payments, American Family Fitness did.  Had I received a notice for the time in question, I would be in possession of my cancellation paperwork and the issue would have been resolved in 2014.  I am not asking for a refund of months that I paid and did not attend the gym or for any service while I was a member, only not to be charged for six months after I had filled out the necessary cancellation paperwork.  I am not going to speculate whether the paperwork was lost or misfiled but I did sign it in person at American Family Fitness in August of 2014.I await your response. Respectfully, [redacted]

There is no indication that Mr. [redacted] has submitted a cancellation. There is a note on the account that he spoke with someone in August of...

2014 and they advised him the procedure for cancellation however the request was not received. If Mr. [redacted] has a copy of his cancellation we will be able to look further into that for him.

[redacted] I am willing to pay the 459.80 that I owe to Amerian Family Fitness. However where does the 180 fees come from. I think that is unfair and unjust. American Family Fitness should allow me to pay the 459.80 since that is what I owe. Adding all these additional fees is ridiculous and simply a way to get extra money.
