RE: [redacted]
Case No: XXXXXXXX
Dear Ms.[redacted]
American Intercontinental University ("AIU") and its parent company, Career Education Corporation ("CEC") are in receipt of your correspondence containing the complaint of former student [redacted]. CEC conducted a review of the allegations and has determined them to be unfounded. CEC's response to Ms. [redacted]'s specific complaints is included below.
Ms. [redacted] began the Associate of Arts Business Administration program on January 4, 2008 and graduated February 8, 2009. Ms. [redacted] began the Bachelor of Business Administration program on February 9, 2009, withdrew July 28, 2009, re-entered April 22, 2011, and graduated April 28, 2013. Ms. [redacted] began the Masters of Business Administration program on October 10, 2013 and withdrew June 15, 2014.
Ms. [redacted] alleges AIU will not release her official transcripts to her due to an outstanding balance on her student account. AIU does not release official transcripts to students with outstanding balances. This policy is noted within the school catalog which Ms. [redacted] acknowledged receipt of when she signed her Enrollment Agreement on August 26, 2013. Page 37 of the 2013 school catalog states the following: "Transcript requests are fulfilled through Docufide, a leading company in secure transcript delivery. A transcript fee is assessed regardless of transcript hold status. If you have an outstanding balance preventing release of your transcript, we will not be able to issue your official transcript." (NOTE: AIU currently uses Parchment to fulfill transcript requests.)
Ms. [redacted] also alleges AIU will not provide her a copy of her unofficial transcripts. A copy of Ms. [redacted]'s unofficial transcripts will be sent to her. A voicemail message was left for Ms. [redacted] on April 15, 2015 requesting her current contact information so that her unofficial transcripts could be forwarded. Ms. [redacted] may call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX to confirm her contact information and I will forward the transcripts.
Finally, Ms. [redacted] alleges AIU will not agree to a payment plan so that she can pay off her outstanding balance. AIU does not have a record of any contact with Ms. [redacted] since she was withdrawn from school in June, 2014; however, AIU would like to work with Ms. [redacted] to establish a repayment plan. Ms. [redacted]'s outstanding balance is currently managed by AIU's collections agency, Conserve (CSR). Ms. [redacted] may contact CSR to establish a repayment plan at (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Ms. [redacted] may also contact Ja'ami Mock, Supervisor Student Account Services, at (XXX) XXX-XXXX to speak with someone directly at AIU.
Pursuant to its review of the matter, AIU will provide Ms. [redacted] a copy of her official transcripts upon confirmation of her current contact information. Additionally, AIU and its collections agency, CSR, are willing to discuss repayment plans with Ms. [redacted] concerning her outstanding balance. When Ms. [redacted]'s outstanding balance is paid in full, she may request her official transcripts. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me directly at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/04/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
My desired resolution was to release my official transcripts and set up a payment plan. I did receive a message from ms. Bates where she left me the contact info of student accounting dept. As to her not having any record that I tried to work up a payment plan, the call was around the time they administratively withdrew me back in June 14 because they wanted the remaining balance paid in full. So they gave me an ultimatum, or pay the balance in full or be withdrawn from the school. There were several calls made one where I was willing to pay 2000 and work out a plan for the rest and they declined the offer. They wanted the entire balance upfront. I want them to release my official transcripts and agree to a doable payment plan.
