Under a contractual agreement that I would be able to cancel at anytime within business day's of signing and paying that a refund would be made- Team THF, and Porter B*** have refused a refund and have blocked me from all forms of communication
THF stated that Porter acts as his own LLC and denies responsibility for any misconduct he is involved in, although he's acting under their contracts, and advertising as an employee of their firm

On 5/15/I paid for sessions (at a total of $1,036.80) via debit card directly to Porter B*** at the Team THF office in Sandy, UT He encouraged me to pay for all of my sessions up-front in order to receive a discount on the overall price I then signed a contract to that effect, but did not receive a copy However, I know that my sessions were valid for at least one year, if not more
The first few months went great, I was seeing him on a semi-regular basis and making progress As we entered the fall, due to travel for work, my job's busy season, and the holidays, I let him know that I would be taking a break from our sessions and resuming them at the end of March or beginning of April of
At the end of March 2016, we texted back and forth several times about setting up a recurring appointment to finish the rest of my sessions We agreed to meet on Saturday, April 2nd of at 9:am I showed up, but he did not I tried texting and calling him several

The claims made by Maritza from American Storage are and INACCURATEAgain, at NO TIME did Maritza state to me that we are NOT allowed to cut our own locks The only thing she did say was that they charge a $fee to cut the lock At NO TIME did she explain any policy to me At NO TIME did I ask her if I could cut my own lock That is the ONLY reason, I can back with my own lock cutter and cut my own Had she explained this from the very beginning, this whole situation would have NEVER transpired I also have witnesses to verify my claims Maritza is backpedaling to cover herself and her error and I will continue to dispute hers and their claims as this is and inaccurate Particularly in reference to the answer she had given stating that she told me NOT TO come there with a bolt cutter and then considered me a threat Had she seen me walk in with the cutters as she claims she did, she had plenty of time to approach me and tell me I was not allowed to do this and rectify that situation right then and there She also had plenty of time to approach me as we were cleaning out our unit before the situation escalated and she did not She took matters into her own hands I'm a mother of two and a professional, not a criminal and no threat to anyone I'm outraged and offended that the matter even got this far and the way it has been handled has been completely unprofessional I deserve an apology and I want them to credit my account for the $they are trying to steal from me for garbage disposal I will continue to dispute this until this is rectified

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because the many of her claims are FALSE and INACCURATE.  I will indicate the series of events below.

In response to Maritza's claims, I am going to have to disagree and dispute her recollection and story of how the whole situation happened. She has fabricated lies to cover herself and she has stretched the truth.  I have witnesses there to document my claims.  In full detail, this is the happening of events July [redacted].  On July [redacted] I went to American Storage with my sister and my nephew to inquire as to whether or not I was confirmed for a smaller storage unit and to look at the unit which was available to make sure it would fit out things.  I had requested a smaller unit from the time I booked with them due to the fact that I had twins and am on a budget. They had nothing available at the time so I went with a larger unit for the time being.  I was storing some personal belongings there, along with things that belong to my sister and my nephews.  They NEVER called me with any openings available although I was on a list and my account had been noted that I requested a smaller unit.  With that, I had to call them and went there on a several occasions to get this sorted out.  A few days before we had gone there, I had called them to see if something opened and they told me they finally had an opening for a smaller unit.  On July [redacted] I went there to see if the unit would be sufficient and if it was, we planned to move our things that day.  In the meantime, I misplaced my key.  I asked Maritza at the front desk about what happens if you lose your key and she said that they would have to charge you a $25 fee to cut your lock.  I said ok, I will let them know.  At no time did I ask her if I could cut my own lock and at no time did she tell me that I could NOT.  At no time did she ask me for any type of ID or to present two forms of ID...I didn't even have my wallet on me and had she asked me to present ID, I would've had to run out to the car and get it.  Her claim is false stating that I had not provided any form of ID...I never provided it because she never asked me for it and I did not ask them to cut the lock...I told them I would try to find my key first and would let them know.  Again, I reiterate, at no time did she once state that we could NOT cut our own lock.  I never asked her if we could. I told her that I would go home and look for my key first to see if maybe I could find it.  We left and went home and searched for the key and could not locate it. We had a lock cutter home so with that, I went back to my unit. When you enter the building, there is no reason to pass by the main desk. You enter through stairs on the dock outside. You do NOT SNEAK into the building.  We entered the building and went directly to our unit.  I then cut my lock.  I'm not sure why she would think we were a threat and would starting cutting other tenants locks, we are not thieves.  We are honest, working professional people.   I was there for many hours sorting through my things. The unit was on the main level so we were walking around, we got a few dollys and brought them over by the unit and continued sorting through our things.  At no time did any of the American Storage personnel approach me and tell me I was in violation or that did something wrong and that I could not cut my own lock. They had many hours to rectify this situation and handle it in a different manner.  Only when we were finished moving our things and we were getting ready to check out and go to the front desk was I then confronted by the police. They took me off guard because we had no idea what this was in reference to. The officers proceeded to tell me that the owner wants me to vacate the premises because I cut my lock and I am in violation. I spoke to them and they said this is a warning and then left. We then went to the front desk to speak to Maritza. She made us of stand there waiting for a very long time while she took care  of  other customers. When she finally finished and addressed us, I started asking her questions as to where it is stated and where is it written and where in the policy does it state that we cannot cut our own locks. I said I want a copy of the documentation that to back up her claims...I asked where in the documentation does it state with a situation like this, where does it specifically indicate that you are to call the police. It is my right as a tenant that I be informed in writing or shown documentation to support her claims.  It is my right as a tenant to have fair warning and be treated with dignity and respect.  She told us that she spoke to her manager and he said to have me removed and call the police. I again, asked for a copy of this policy and with that she told me to leave NOW.   She said I'm going to have to ask you to leave NOW or I will call the police.  She said it 2 or 3 times and that she would call the police on me. She got hostile because I requested documentation. She threatened me and made me fearful to even be there.  At no time did I get hostile or angry with her---she didn't even give me the opportunity to discuss this matter with her.  She just threatened me and told me to leave, all that I was requesting was proof and evidence. She was getting upset because I asked for these docs and she could not provide it. With that I left the building. She would not speak to me or answer my questions. I have witnesses there to verify my statements. My sister and my nephew were with me.  I had a dolly with a few items to be discarded and had to leave them behind because she threatened me by calling the police if I didn't leave and leave now. After I left she gave my sister a copy of the contract which I did not review or initial.  My signature is nowhere on this contract and I had never reviewed it until I got home.  In looking over the contract, nowhere in this contract does it state her claims about the fact we cannot cut our locks. Only that if we need it cut they charge a $25 fee and require 2 forms of ID.  Nowhere does it state they will terminate the contract and call the authorities. Nowhere in the contract do I see anything written about them disposing trash and charging $100 except in Rule #9 where it says a clearning fee will be imposed if tenant leaves items or garbage on premises.  There is no amount indicated and there is nothing stating that if they threaten you by calling the police and you have to leave immediately that they will charge you a fee.  This is a Catch 22, I feel.  Particularly, when Maritza would not even address me or answer my questions and forced me to leave IMMEDIATELY or face the authorities.  These are rules created at their own discretion.  After reading this, I called American Storage. She claims that I called back to complain--this is false and inaccurate.  I never once complained.  What I did do, was ask Maritza to please forward me the documentation to my fax number so that I can review it and show it to my attorney. Maritza took my fax number and said she would send it, but I have yet to receive anything in writing.  She then said to me, since you left trash here, we are charging you $100.  I told her she is not authorized to charge my card since she had me removed from the property and could not properly dispose of my items.  How was I to remove my items and dispose of them when she threated me and made me leave claiming she would call the police.  She treated me with no respect and as if I were a common criminal but they are the ones who are stealing from me and trying to charge my credit card inappropriately and without authorization.  Had she approached me earlier when she said she claims we snuck in, she could've avoided this whole situation.  She had many hours to rectify the situation and she did not. Instead, they took the matter into their own hands and called the police and took this matter to the extreme. All that I wanted to do was move my personal belongings to a smaller unit. I have yet to receive any proof of these charges and claims.  This is an unfortunate situation brought upon by American Storage themselves. I have been in customer relations, have worked for high ranking individuals and am a professional and I have never in my life been treated this way and have had so many claims and accusations fabricated in an effort to cover her own negligence. I also put a call in American Storage headquarters with no response from any member of management. I am attaching the documentation for your review and response. Review: I been calling this company trying to speak with costumer services but nobody had call me back yet. I sigh up for a unit storage on 08-**-2013. When I sigh up the clerk who did my paper told me that the unit was a month to month payment that I did not had any type of contract that I soon as a move out everything was close. When I moved out on 09-**-2013 I told the same clerk I'm was moving out. He ([redacted])never told me I had to sigh any papers to moved out. Three month later I receive a call telling I owe almost $400 dollars because I never sigh any papers. I went in person to discuss the matter. When I finally got over there I spoke to the manager to see if he could sold this problem for me. He looked at me very upset and call me a lier that the guy has been working with him for 5 years and never made this type of mistake. All he did was cover his employee's mistake and told me that I had to paid because he has people on waiting list and if I don't paid the company is loosing money. Right now my bill is on $515 and I would not paid this balance because I did not used the storage for all this time that they are trying to charge me for it.Desired Settlement: they could a least give me a call and try to speak to me about this because once again I would not paid this high balance. The company had never get in contact with me to find a solution or to explain me why the high bill. The manager behavior against me was very inappropriate and I would like to speak to someone else. Review: Greetings

I was contacted by the American Self Storage company where I have been regularly paying my bill as a customer for over a year by staff [redacted] on January **, 2015. He notified me that my bill was 2months in the rear for Dec. 2014 and Jan.2015 for a total of $133.00.

Due to my job that has a change in our work schedule during the end of year.

I had to work with another government agency during that period for my wages. Government payments take longer at times.

I responded to [redacted] who works with the storage company and informed him that the mail for my check should be arriving soon and I would bring the payment. He didn't state or inform me that my storage would be in auction or going to auction at that time.

The following week(7days later) I received a call from another staff [redacted] at the same storage that my items were now up for auction.

I have my mail to make sure that its not coming to private residence arrive to the post office where I can pick it up directly.

The government check came the same time that I received the information about the auction.

I called the office to tell them that I had received my check to make the payment for the two months that was in the rear.

The [redacted] of that office came on the phone with a hostile response telling me I couldn't pay for any two months I would have to pay for the auction charge too.

He wasn't reasonable and I don't see a reason for any auction to be placed on my storage for two months payment, and that I had notified his staff I was bringing the payment when my check arrived a week later.

The same day after I spoke with the [redacted] I went to the storage company to request a copy of my bill, because I was locked out of my storage that has important documents and my contract was one of them.

[redacted] gave me a copy and I what I discovered was 2 additional reasons this company should be investigated or not allowed to do business. The contract read that I would be given a 10day period of notification that didn't happen.

1) The first time I spoke with the staff their was no mention of an auction the next time I heard about an auction it was 7days later not 10 they had placed and auction fee of $75.00 prior to the 10days contact that is a violation of the agreement they made with their customers.

2)The second issue I discovered that I was given a late fee charge of $25.00 added 2days after they placed the auction fee.

The storage company I am seeing is attempting to extort or hold hostage a customers belongings and keep adding amounts to be over

excessive with payments in billing.

3) I was told that my storage was going to be auctioned in February 2015. I made an attempt to reasonably work out with the [redacted] for payment my initial rears of two months, because my check covered that amount. He added additional fees that I had been unexpected and I didn't have the finances to cover the extra and he didn't want to hear anything I had to say.

4) I received another call this month of March 2015 March [redacted] -March ** by American Storage Staff [redacted] and [redacted] that my items will be auction this month of March. You know I am upset more now that they are telling me my items are going to be auctioned this month, when I thought they had auctioned the items in February last month.

I am tired of being harassed or hassled by the company over my belongings. I have no longer responded to any of their calls or e-mails, because I want to have your agency or attorney investigate them or have them out of business for not handling consumers correctly in their business practices. (Giving me false information attempting to cause me unnecessary distress)

You know this sounds like the scam that companies tell you they are going out of business and don't go out of business. The companies overcharge to see you go find money or the government to pay their excessive amount. It can be seen as fraud.

1) I attempted to see about contacting the [redacted] of this company after the [redacted] was not agreeable and no one responded back to see where they are at fault.

2) The post office gave me a letter to state that I had been going everyday to look for my mail and that the mail had been back log and delayed.

3)It seems this company has not shown good judgement and could attempted to cause me hardship unnecessarily to overcharge for my

belongings.

4) People should not have their items discarded in the way of auction a person personal material has private information records and it can place people at risk.

I will take this to the city government or officials to any court to have these storage companies placed on alert on how they do business in their communities should your office not be able to find a reasonable resolution.

I would appreciate to know any solution you may can work out.

Review: American Self Storage has shut down my access to pay my bill online..yet has been charging me late fees. That does not seem right. Also, when my contract was orginially established they offered Sunday hours. I work 6 days a week and now need to take a day off work to access my stuff on site. Today, I call to inform the business that I am not able to process my payment...they said that I need to come in person to pay my bill which is not acceptable..because that means I need to take a day off work.....when I should have access like any other customer to pay my bill online.Desired Settlement: I think the business should allow me to process my payment online.

Review: In this Storage facility I left all my information with the clerk in charge of accounts. And they claim that my debit card won't process the payment now i'm incurring late fees. Not only that but my wallet was stolen because I could not get in my Unit. So my health is at stake.Desired Settlement: Give me my money back because that problem was a result of your error.

Review: I rented a storage, I only needed 1 month but the manager said 3 months is minimum regardless how long I need, so I paid the 3 months. Manager rushed me a lot for all the process. At home, I reviewed the contract and found out there are no 3 months minimum. Also they showed me the wrong size. In two days, I called the manager to cancel it. (I did not use the storage) However he said that there is not refund and I can’t cancel. I disputed the credit card charge through [redacted] bank and got my money back. However, since then, the storage has been contacting me and asking for accumulated balance every month as if I am continuously using their storage unit even though I never used it nor ever moved in( They did not accept my cancel request and keep asking me for paying monthly by contacting me).Desired Settlement: Since I never used the storage service and they did not let me cancel as well as telling me a lie about the unit size and payment, the fair solution will be that the storage company should stop contacting me for money that I don’t owe and remove the accumulated balance with my account for good. They should zero out the balance they are claiming and permanently close the account. (It is obvious fraud. [redacted] card investigated my case and ended up not paying to the storage). Please investigate the storage company for other people like me as well.

I have been a customer of American Self storage for many years now and the long standing mistreatment from office staff and management is horrible. Firstly, although this location has two ramps I would hardly say the place is wheelchair accessible. They have so many obstacles to pass from massive (sink)holes in the leading up to the property, to a larger creator just before the main ramp. As of late there has been a high turnover of staff maybe because the location is secluded or the faul smell from the Newtown Creek which stinks up the whole building or maybe the up keep of the antique freight elevator. The Manager "Omar" threaten me recently when I brought the poor conditions to his attention and even told me he wants me out of "my location" that very day. Although, the rents are fairly cheap for the area PLEASE KEEP CLEAR.
