Trying to call them about replacing a window and can't get contact info. What's up?

Review: I have four windows that are discolored. The appear to have all of the argon leak from them. I am not sure how to resolve this as it appears ATEC is out of business.Desired Settlement: I want to be contacted with replacement options.

Response:

ATEC is out of business. The warranty is through the manufacturer. However several of the manufacturers we have used over the years are also out of business.

Review: I had a patio door installed at the beginning of November. when I was quoted the price, they gave me a "125% Price assurance" saying if I found another company with the same Revdex.com rating and same door features I would receive the price difference plus 25%. I did but then, [redacted], [redacted] stated there was some thing different...which he hadn't told me before. He did give a partial discount but not the entire difference PLUS the 25%. (That should have been my first bad sign)

When it was put in, they were unable to install the lock at the base of the door. I heard 2 different stories, one saying it was the wrong part and one saying it was faulty. They did come out once in January because they had also installed the wrong color hardware and that was resolved, however, it was stated they still had the wrong base door lock. I have called every month since December. It is now June, 7 months later, and I still have no base lock on the door.

I am shocked this company still has an A+ rating. I am just getting the runaround.

Also, I was given no written warranty. I was told to look it up on line with a website they provided and have not been able to find it. Is this a common practice? I find it hard to believe that it's ok to not give a receipt or warranty.Desired Settlement: I want the base door lock installed. And, looking back, I should have received the proper 125% Price Assurance guaranty.

Terrible. All 8 of my windows went bad. They fooled me into thinking I was purchasing a quality product. They came & replaced glass units and demanded more money.
Bad customer service, Poor product. Don't trust.

The windows were installed within the time frame promised. The problem is that within the first week, a lock broke off and now 3 months later and several calls and promises to fix, we are still waiting for the service call and now 1 of the locks on another window has broken off. We were told they would be at the house this AM and as usual, they called to cancel and re-schedule a visit once again. ATEC's windows are ok at best but their customer service [redacted]!

Review: around Jan 6th 2014 my kitchen window started cracking. It was the start of our very cold days called right away while it was still breaking .Got a return call right away that someone would call me back. No called happened after repeatly calling them. Finally jan. 15th got a called was told the Lady who answers the phone was out sick ,( I guess no one there can answer the phone) anyway [redacted] called said my lifetime warranty wasnt good because the company that made the windows was out of business so there was a small charge of $187.00 if I agreeded to that call the office. I did and gave them my credit card #and was told 3 weeks. This was Jan 15th. On Feb 24th almost 6 weeks later still no window. They returned my call said it would be on that weeks shipment. It is now Mar 6th still no replacement window. All I want is for my window to be fixed 2months already with plastic on my window and lies from this company is long enough I thinkDesired Settlement: to get my window fixed now, not another 2 months from now and I still have plastic on my lifetime warranty window

Review: I have tried for months to contact ATEC with nothing but an answering machine 24/7 I have left numerous messages and phone numbers and never received a reply. I don't know if this a business. I have a 4 lite bow window that needs a glass panel replaced under a lifetime warranty I'm getting nowhereDesired Settlement: honor the contract warranty

Business

Response:

ATEC is out of business. The warranty is through the manufacturer. Unfortunately depending on the window purchased the manufacturer may be out of business as well.

Review: In 2009 We had all of the windows in our home replaced. One of the Windows is Leaking. I have left 7 messages for them and I have gotten not response. This is not acceptable.Desired Settlement: To come out and look at the window and then replace or repair the issue.

Review: ATEC installed 13 new windows in our home 2 years ago. We talked to them about our concerns of water damage from our old windows and they said they have an experienced team who could look and fix any problem. We had various issues with the windows, parts breaking off, 2 needed to be replaced, which they resolved immediately. However, we have since discovered that they installed 6 of the windows on rotten window sills and instead of telling us or repairing the problem, they simply covered it up with aluminum trim. These rotten sills attracted carpenter ants and we now have to call in an pest control agency to deal with it.

Now, we have to pay another contractor to replaced all of the rotten sills and pay a pest control agency to deal with the ants. Had they installed the windows correctly, we would not have had any issues at all. The rotten stills would have been fixed 2 years ago and the ants would never had found a new home.

I have called and left messages, with no reply. I would like to speak with them about this issue and find an appropriate resolution.Desired Settlement: I would like the owner to call me back. I have left messages with no reply. ATEC should be responsible for covering the cost of pest control and replacing the sills.

Review: ATEC Quality Home Improvements came out to install new windows for my house in July 2011 for $15,500.00. I've had a few problems with their product since the installation. About a month after the installation, one of the glass on the window cracked. They came and repaired the window - great. In October 2013, one of the windows stopped opening. I called the company and the company came out, inspected the problem, was told they'd order the parts and come back out to repair it once the part arrives. 6 months later, after several calls and no return call from (the company or [redacted]), here we are.

Since that time, another window has cracked.Desired Settlement: For ATEC Quailty Home Improvements to back up their product - REPAIR THE WINDOWS!!!

Business

Response:

Unfortunately the manufacturer of the window has gone out of business. The warranty is from the manufacturer. We are doing everything we can to help this customer.

Review: purchased patio door with lifetime warranty on door & labor 2001.discovered that water had been leaking in for probably several years.door is all full of mold ,sub floor under door rooted out ,there is 12 inch dia. hole in wall.notified atec & they sent someone out,the guy they sent out jerry said that the install was the problem.they where here in November & have been getting put off eversince then. even tried filing a claim with my homeowners insurance at their request.my insurance denied the claim saying the damage was due to door not installed properly.FLASHING ,no j channel ect.provided report from insurance adjuster to atec.they filed claim with their insurance co. & it was denied because it was more than 10 years ago.been about as patient as I can be,completely frustrated with atec.Desired Settlement: replace moldy water compromised door, replace all roted wood & correctly flash around.all im aking for is the lifetime door I paid for &atec owes me

Business

Response:

This door was installed over ten years ago. The first we heard of any problem from this customer was in approximately November of 2013. We did send someone out to take a look at it and we don't believe it to be an installation issue. We did submit a claim to our insurance to try and help out the customer however since it had been over 10 years they denied the claim. The customer does have a limited lifetime warranty on the door but there is no problem with the door.

Business

Response:

If it were faulty installation something would have been noticed much earlier. I am truly sorry he is going through this but there is nothing that ATEC can do for him.

Review: I purchased five windows(gorell... energy guard) from ATEC to be installed back in 2010. With this cold weather we had this past winer, one window's seal broke. You cannot see clearly out of it now. I have called ATEC three times and always got their answering machine. I left a clear message of who I am with my phone number and that I would like a new window. The warranty for the window...was suppose to be one of the finest in the country. I just called them again today...7-23-14 and this time their mailbox is full. I couldn't leave a message.Obviously no one is answering the phone over there.Desired Settlement: I would like window replaced like they said they would do when I purchased it back in 2010.

Business

Response:

The window manufacturer is out of business, the warranty is through them.

Consumer

Response:

Review: A window that was purchased from ATEC, is covered by a lifetime replacement and labor warranty. The manufacturer of the window has since gone out of business, so ATEC agreed to provide the replacement glass at a cost of $286, and honor the contract/warranty regarding the labor, and install upon receipt of glass. A representative came to our home and provided us with this information, and stated that they would follow up with us to arrange installation. This was nearly one month ago, and ATEC has not returned any of our calls over the course of this time. We have left multiple messages.

Our window seal has failed, and now our picture window is filling with corrosion and is surely inefficient.

We would like to have the glass replaced as agreed upon by both parties. We were told that there is nothing that can be done about the manufacturer warranty, and were willing to pay for the glass. I am now beginning to wonder about the integrity of the conversation, and if indeed we are responsible for the cost of the replacement glass.

At minimum we need to have our glass replaced as agreed upon.Desired Settlement: Replacement glass installed at no cost for labor. If we have no other option than to pay for the glass, we will, but need the glass replaced ASAP.

Review: We had our roof and flashing put in at the end of 2009 with a 20 year warranty. I've called many times (10-20) with no answer ever. I called last year because there was stuff coming through the roof into our attic, no answer then either. I found the sales person's phone number in my phone and called him and he said he doesn't work for them anymore. I have water coming in through the chimney where it was flashed with 20 year protection and it's puddling in my basement so the fact that no one is answering the phone for the past month is a large issue. Thanks for your help in improving customer service and helping get our roof/flashing repaired ASAP.Desired Settlement: 1st - contact us or answer the phone

2nd - Repair our flashing/roof

Review: Windows in entire house were completed on 12-6-13 by ATEC. In August of 2013, the living room left casement window opening mechanism broke. Contacted ATEC, service person came out. He stated he needed to order parts to fix the window and that ATEC would be in touch within 2 or 3 weeks. No such followup call occurred on ATEC's part. Between my wife and me, dozens of calls have been made to ATEC since. Many calls are never answered by ATEC, but on several occasions a representative did answer the phone. I have been told everything from your service repair order was misplaced and not submitted, to someone will contact you in 2 or 3 weeks when the parts arrive for servicing. My most recent phone conversation regarding the matter was with Rick Stantoine; who stated that it is possible that our windows are not under warranty or that the company that made our windows are no longer in business. After reviewing my windows purchase from ATEC, Rick continued to state that our windows ARE still under warranty and the company that made the windows ARE still in business. Rick, then stated that he or someone from ATEC would be in contact with me in 2 or 3 weeks. That was over a month ago. I call ATEC, 2 to 3 times daily, with no avail. Today, 5/14/14; I drove down to ATEC's location on 6926 W Becher Street on my lunch hour and found the business closed with no employees or cars in the parking lot. ATEC has had 9 months, numerous calls and requests to fix our casement window, but has yet to resolve the situation. The only time ATEC has contacted me is when a salesman has had the nerve to try and solicit a sales for doors on our home...TWICE!Desired Settlement: Fix our casement window ASAP!

It is my understanding that the parts have been ordered. I will follow up on it.

Regards,

Review: My expeirence was good to begin with. Nice sales rep, nice windows. The installers were swearing up a storm, smoking like a chimney, and did a poor job of caulking. MOST importantly, the follow up. TERRIBLE. HORRIBLE. I called the company late April 2014 (had windows installed in November 2013) FOUR TIMES without return call. I sent an email, I found them on FB, I left yet ANOTHER voicemail. The excuse I got two weeks later when the owner called me was that his "office girl" had been out. I explained I had a problem with one of the windows. He said he'd call me back in two days to schedule. He sure didn't call me back! I called him two weeks later. This owner does not return calls or deliver the service I paid over $9,000 for!Desired Settlement: I want the owner to come to my house and look at the windows to see if the installation is actually up to the standards I was sold or give me a partial refund.

Review: In September, 2013 ATEC installed several windows and siding on half of our home. First issue: the installers had to disconnect the electrical outlet for the air conditioning unit then reconnected it wrong. A/C service bill was $80. Second issue: ATEC has not returned my many phone calls to discuss windows and siding on the remaining half of our home.Desired Settlement: reimbursement for the A/C mistake and discussion and quote on remaining work.

Atec is no longer in business. They will need to contact the manufacturer.

Review: We Ordered Windows from ATEC Febuary 26,2014 And they installed them but did not finish the job. was told in two weeks they would come back and finish the job. here we are July and no response or a call from them. Tried calling them mail box full. Sales man called and talk to him and said they would take care of it but nothing. tried calling him back and message stating will not accept calls. so here we are one window not installed and inside caulking not done. signed a contract with there finance company and now here we sit. we are thinking of holding back $1000.00 until the job is completed. was told at 1st they were one of the Revdex.com. bureau rating for there company. so now your telling us we can no longer go by that anymore. very frustrated with this and out the expensive cost that was envolved.Desired Settlement: should receive a refund to hire our own company too finish the job. I don't trust this company anymore.

Business

Response:

ATEC is out of business. However what is not complete with this job?

Consumer

Response:

I have received your message stating ATEC is out of business, what is not completed is the caulking around the windows as promised and one window not installed for the broken one. another thing is what about the warranty on these expensive windows

Review: In Nov. had back door replaced by Atec. This Spring when sun was bright noticed light came through between door and frame which means air also entering. I have tried constantly to speak with [redacted] but can only reach him via voice recording. I explained the problem on Sat April 26th and again Thur. May1st. I asked to be able to speak to him with options of giving him time I would be home-,best time to call to reach him and asked for an appointment all with no response. It has now been over three weeks with no response to my complaint.

Review: In 2009 and2010, I purchased about $10.000 worth of windows from ATEC. I was told that I had a lifetime warranty on the windows. I had one window that lost it's seal and clouded over and after much ado , they replaced it. Last spring I found another window that has lost it's seal and this one is worse than the last one. I have made 5 phone calls and they do not respond, or the mailbox is full or the number does not work.Desired Settlement: A window that is of the same quality as the one I first puchased.

Business

Response:

Atec is out of business. The warranty is through the manufacturer. The problem is that based on the time frame that the windows were purchased, I believe that the manufacturer is also out of business.
