Review: My car was parked in a lot when the American transit insured hit me on June * 2015

Police report says the driver was at fault.

Everytime I call they give me the run around

This has been going on since June * 2015Desired Settlement: I just want the money they owe me for the repairs to my truck

Review: I was hit hard from behind sitting at a red light in [redacted], BK by a private cab insured by American Transit back in February. It is now June... I still have not received the check that was told was sent out last week due to damage both physically on my car and myself. I must have called about 6 times before being able to get a claim number. Then another 6 times just to have them send out the estimator to have them look at my car's damage. It took a week for the estimator to come and look and when he did, he never called me afterwards because I was not able to be there at the time. Then I was told after speaking to several supervisors that the claim form to have signed by the property damage dept., myself and a notary public was sent out, I did not receive it until a month later. I then was told that they can send me the forms via e-mail and then have it e-mailed or faxed back. I scanned the forms and sent via e-mail... no response. I called 2 weeks later, there is no notes or indication of receiving my email and the person I was dealing with has still not responded to any of my emails. I then proceeded to fax the forms directly. 2 weeks later and still no response or check sent. Absolutely terrible customer service and I see that many others agree.Desired Settlement: To be more sufficient in giving information and not have a claim go on for 4 months.

Review: I got into an accident with one of their policy holders. It took them 3 days to even give me a claim number. Then sent an appraiser a week after the accident. After that it took them 10 days to process and send me a form to fill out and fax to them. They informed me it would take another 5 days for the claims examiner. I had to call the claims examiner because I hadn't heard anything after a week an a half. The claims examiner stated to me that they would only pay half of the appraisal due to the fact they weren't able to get a hold of the driver to get his statement of the accident. The driver had a passenger in the car since it was a taxi company and when I originally called the insurance company to file the claim they took down the witness information. They also contacted him a couple days after because he informed me. While talking to the claims examiner she said that there was no information in there system regarding talking to the witness. I gave her the information of the witness and she wanted to send paperwork to him but he said he gave his statement and didnt want to got through the hassle. The insurance company only were giving me half of the damages due to the fact they were unable to get a hold of the taxi company or the driver that was involved in this accident.Desired Settlement: I would like to get the full amount of the payment. They have caused me to miss work and time and hassle trying to get this issue resolve. I would simply like the full amount of what the car was appraised for.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by American Transit Insurance Company regarding complaint ID [redacted].I have called them several times regarding my claim and left several messages for the claims person handling the case and her supervisor and I have not heard anything yet from either of them. Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: On August [redacted] 2014, my vehicle was legally parked in front of my home at which time it was struck by a green five boro taxi. The impact was so violent that it threw my vehicle on the sidewalk nearly striking and injuring some children playing nearby. I have filled numerous forms made many phone calls, sent various emails with attachments all of which have yielded no results. Every time I call American Transit Insurance Company I get the run-around, the " I will escalate this call to my supervisor for review" or the "we're working on it" response, among other stall tactics. This company is by far the worst company I have had the misfortune of dealing with as far as insurance companies go. I have dealt with others that are not only helpful and professional but actually expedite payment when they need to pay. I don't know why ATIC treats claimants like garbage which is exactly how I feel I am being treated.Desired Settlement: My vehicle needs exterior/body repairs in excess of $7,000.00 and there are major mechanical issues that need to be addressed also. My vehicle has damages over $10,000.00 not to mention all of the receipts for taxi and public transportation which I have incurred. I have received numerous parking tickets as a result of the vehicle being inoperable and now I have had to tow the vehicle to a lot which I now pay $150.00 a month. I also have a special needs child which needs to be rushed to the emergency room for epilepsy treatment and follow up visits. All of which has left me with a financial hole of well over $1,500.00.

Not to mention the huge inconvenience this has caused my family.

I NEED TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED ASAP!

I need to be reimbursed ASAP!

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: On February [redacted], 2015 my car was involved in an accident while parked and was damaged significantly (totaled). The [redacted] of the vehicle at fault is fully covered by American Transit Insurance Company. The police officers on the scene provided the car owner's insurance details and explained that they (American Transit Insurance Company) would be liable.

I filed a claim with American Transit Insurance Company on Tuesday, February [redacted] as the office was closed until then. After a significant delay and communication breakdown in the simple task of receiving my faxed and emailed docs (incident report) of which I responsibly carried out in a very timely manner, they finally provided me with a claim number. I believe this took over a week. When I called they acted like I was bothering them and said they didn't receive my email or fax. I actually did both just to ensure they received it. I had to redo that process, and persistently follow up until they confirmed receipt. This is the trend for all communication with American Transit Insurance.

I called the company every few days for a while and found customer support to be rude and non-informative. Throughout the process they would provide the extension of a case worker, adjuster, or supervisor - depending on who I'd ask for. Whenever I called the given extension - the call would always go to voicemail. They never call back.

After over a month of waiting for American Transit Insurance to conduct an inspection on my vehicle (which was accruing storage fees) they sent a letter explaining that my car was deemed a total loss. They recommended that I dispose of my vehicle and that they would send a letter within 15 days to provide the settlement based on the value of my car. In the meantime I had to pay car rental and storage fees out of pocket. In one of the letters they sent - they explained that they only cover car rentals and storage fees if they are working on the car (so I guess that means for total loss' they pay nothing) and they explain that they will only pay a maximum of $30 a day in rentals and $15 a day for storage... maximum of 30 days. Even though they explain that they don't have to cover these costs for total loss incidents - I believe they should.

Next, the 15 days to receive the offer expires and after 20 days I finally receive a letter explaining that this is delayed as they are investigating the matter. And whenever I call - everyone I talk to is clueless.

I've been calling the adjuster every week for the past 4 weeks and she says that she's "waiting on a statement from the insured".

I believe American Transit Insurance Company is acting in bad faith. It has now been approximately 2.5 months since I filed the claim. Not only is this an unreasonable amount of time to respond - this breaks the timelines they originally set.

Also, I have reason to believe they will offer far lower than the blue book value of my car - if they ever end up actually sending an offer letter. I also believe they won't offer to reimburse me for any car rental and storage fees I've paid over the last 2.5 months.

At this point I have no idea what to do. I don't have a car, and I have to continue renting cars. I have no idea if they'll even cover these costs. When I called the adjuster recently and explained my predicament - she said they won't cover my car rentals. But at the same time they won't resolve this matter... forcing me to rent cars... something is wrong there. This is turning into serious damage. I would file a case in small claims court however the maximum damage you can ask remedy on is $5,000. I feel they need to cover closer to double that at this point.Desired Settlement: Payout to cover:

- My car's blue book value

- Car rental fees (of which are pretty minimal since I haven't been able to afford many car rentals)

- Storage fees

The time they've spent (2.5 months) is completely unreasonable - they need to speed things up and resolve this.

Review: On 8/**/15, my "parked" vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run from a taxi driver insured by American Transit. The following day I had contacted the Insurance Company and received a claim #. I was told to wait a few days, and was given an extension to call back for updates. I had left a total of "6" messages on different dates, all of which were not responded to.

Finally, on 9/**/15, an adjuster reached out to me to send someone to the auto body shop to review the damages done. My mechanic stated that he had never seen an insurance company so difficult to deal with, and gave me my car back until everything was approved. He stated in every other situation he has dealt with in over 20 years, he usually has an idea that day.

It is now 9/**/15, and after once again getting the run around from this company, I have been told it will take another 7-10 days to get a response on this claim.

Another 7-10 days to review whether they will pay for this claim??? What information do you possibly need that you did not receive? I offered to send you a "VIDEO" of the taxi performing a Hit and Run on my vehicle, I've sent numerous pictures of the damage, a repair estimate, and anything else that was asked for. What exactly is going to take another 10 days to review? After reading the other dozens of complaints on the Revdex.com about this company, I'm not optimistic and assuming I will need to take legal action.Desired Settlement: Approve the repair, let me get my vehicle fixed, and hopefully never have to deal with this company again.

Response:

At this time, I have been contacted directly by American Transit Insurance Company regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

While they stated I would be covered 100%, the amount was not 100% of the estimate, the mechanic is trying to resolve but not having success.

Review: On 11/**/2014 my car was rear ended by a cab that is insured by the company. It took 3 week for them to issue me a claim number and to get my car inspected. They have the police report an all the necessary papers that I filled out and emailed to them. Now I received a letter last week telling me that the claim is delayed, because they are waiting to hear from other parties of the accident. I have called twice to speak to the claims examiner, and as of today I still haven't heard from them. The customer service department said that the examiner is the person that I need to speak to. I was also told that they would reimburse me for a rental, which I don't have the money to rent one. I can't use the trunk of my car because the trunk is tied down because it won't close because of the damages. The bumper is hanging off and has two holes on both sides. When it rains and snows it goes into my trunk.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to send me the check so that I can get my car repaired, and also notify [redacted] rent a car on [redacted] in [redacted] of their information so that when I get the rented car once my vehicle goes in the shop. They then can bill them for the car because I don't have the money for it.

Review: On Aug **, 2013 I was park at 9[redacted] went a yellow cab went inside the drive way of [redacted] to do a U-Turn, went he back up, he back up to my car hitting my car on the door of the driver side, (I was Inside) he came out and said sorry many times, police came and police report was done, I send all inf to this insurance and as now even though I followed all the requested documents, their adjuster saw my car, etc. They still do not want to paid in order to have my car fix, now they adv me that they nn another 7 to 15 days for some one else to approve this estimate even thought was done by them.

If you want to speak with customer service it could take you from 15 to 1 hour waiting in the phone to have some one to adv you the same, is all a processes, as now I spoke with [redacted], [redacted] on 9/*/13, [redacted] 9/*/13, [redacted] 9/**/13,May 9/**/13, again [redacted] 9/**/2013, wish I adv her as well as [redacted] and May that water is entering to the car on the door that was hit, and I will create more damage in the car.

Any other insurance by now this case would be settle, this is complete fraud, Taxis are running around the city like manics and the insurance they carry are a fraud. how long I nn to wait to have my car fix??? I really nn to have help in order to finalize this case, is a nigh mare.Desired Settlement: I want them to paid for damage of my car a soon as possible (now) I do not nn more departments to approve.

Response:

At this time, I have been contacted directly by American Transit Insurance Company regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I spoke one time with the adjuster and many times with customer service of this company(even thought they were friendly, they only adv you of all process. ), but I ended fixing my car with my own insurance as with this company I may be still waiting for them to approve and take responsibility of damages. I been dealing with many other car insurances and never encounter an insurance that have all this rules to process a claim, different departments and every document have to be approved from many departments. To me this is a scam to have people discourage to follow with any claim even though is a non fault. That why the majority of this yellow cabs drive like maniacs.

Review: My parked car was involved in an accident caused by an insured driver of American Transit Insurance on 11/*/14. The first problem I had with this company was getting a claim number. They had told me 3 days, it took 6 to get a number. Once I got the number It then took a week to send an adjuster on behalf of American Transit to estimate the damage done to my car. This occurred on 11/**/14. Today, 11/**/14, NOTHING has been done. After speaking with a representative, an estimate is in the computer, and is not approved. I requested documents to be faxed to myself in order to facilitate a faster process in fixing the damages done to my PARKED car. The representative is putting in a request that make take 3-5 business days, just to fax!!! I have not even received paperwork in order to receive a rent a car from this company!!!! 3 weeks, AND NOTHING IS DONE.Desired Settlement: I want American Transit to COMPLETELY COVER the cost of my car, which was parked, and hit by their insured. I want it done in a timely matter.

Review: ON 10/**/2014 MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT WITH THE ABOVE INSURANCE COMPANY. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AN PUT A CLAIM IN FOLLOWED WITH A COPY OF THE ACCIDENT REPORT, WHICH CLEARLY STATED THERE INSUREE DID MAKE AN ILLEGAL U-TURN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET HITTING MY VEHICLE. IT TOOK NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS TO WHICH WHERE NEVER RETURNED BACK. FAXED NUMEROUS COPIES OF ALL PAPERWORK THEY HAVE ASKED ME TO SEND TO THEM AND NEVER OUNCE WAS A CALLED RECIEVED. AFTER NUMOROUS ATTEMPTS IT TOOK ME WEEKS TO EVEN BE ABLE TO CONTACT SOMEONE IN THERE COSTOMER SERVICE. THEY APPOLIGOZED AND SAID THE FAX WAS NEVER RECEIVED WHEN INFACT I HAVE ALL THE FAX CONFIRMATIONS THAT IT WAS. AFTER WAITING OVER A MONTH AND MY CARIS STILL IN STORAGE I WAS TOLD I WAS GETTING $1900. NOW I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT IM ONLY GETTING $1200. FOR MY DAMAGES. THIS COMPANY IS A DISGRACE AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN FOR EVER OPERATING IN THE STATE OF NEW YORKDesired Settlement: I WANT MY DAMAGES AND EXPENSES PAID FOR AND LETTER STATEING YOUR 100 PERCENT LIABLE!

Review: On August ** 2014, my car as was struck by a car that was operated by the GTSK Corp. While he was exiting a driveway, the driver of this vehicle T boned my car on the passenger side. I contacted his insurance company, American Transit and after 3 months I was offered a settlement of $1232.95. This represented 50% of the damages that were determined to my car. American Transit did not concede liability because they claimed they had "conflicting stories. Assured stated that I made a lane change which caused the collision." I did not accept the settlement, and I filed a small claim action against the insured. I was seeking $2465.95, which represented the full amount as determined by the adjuster from American Transit. In preparation for small claims court, I brought my car to 2 auto body shops to get estimates on my vehicle. The resulting estimates were significantly higher than the settlement offer from American Transit. One of the estimates was for $4211.03 and the other was for $5196.52.

The higher total was calculated using dealer parts while the lower estimate was for used parts. As a result of getting these estimates, I had no choice but to withdraw my claim because the repair amount was higher than small claims court allowed. I was advised to contact the Revdex.com due to the stark discrepancy between the estimates I received and the settlement offered by American Transit. Why is there such a difference between my 2 estimates and the estimate from the adjuster of American Transit? It is obvious they are trying to lowball meDesired Settlement: I want the insurance company to pay for my damages. Simply put, their insured driver hit me. For them to claim that

I am 50% at fault is ridiculous. If you look at the damage to both cars, it is obvious he hit me. They are just going based on the statement of their insured in claiming I was in the middle of a lane change, which is not true. I had completed a lane change at least 30 yards away. And by him claiming I was in the middle of a lane change, that means he saw me coming and still decided not to stop. I want American Transit to pay for the damages in the amount of $4211.03. My car is 2004, I do not need new parts. I just want it fixed.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by American Transit Insurance Company regarding complaint ID [redacted]. This does not surprise me. I had to fax them a copy of the accident report 9 times before they found it buried on their desk. And I had to wait until December to get the settlement offer from them on the accident that occurred in August.Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I was in an accident where I was rear-ended on March **, 2014. I filed a claim with American Transit Insurance who is the other drivers in inusurance company. They finally came out to inspect the car on April [redacted] a month after the accident. On April [redacted] they stated that the finally recieved the estimate. I can not seem to get an answer from anyone at customer service. When I ask to speak with a [redacted] they place me on hold for 20min and then transfer me to a voicemail. Thus far I have left 5 voicemails for [redacted]s whom have yet to call me back.

This is totally unceptable.Desired Settlement: I need to have the repairs done on my vechile. 2 months for a claim is ridicoulous especially since no one is willing to take my call.

Review: My parked car was involved in an accident where it was damaged by an individual insured by American transit insurance. This accident occurred on January [redacted] 2015. It is now February [redacted] 2015 and I am no closer to a resolution than I was on January [redacted]. They have received the appropriate documentation ( ie. police report), the adjuster has been out to assess the damage (2/*/15), and I have forwarded them all of the documentation that they have requested, in a timely manner. When I have called the service center they are frequently closed ( hrs of operation are mon-fri 9-5; I have called at 9:30am and 4:20 pm and received a recording stating that they are closed). When I have had the opportunity to speak to a customer representative I have been told " We are not here to help you", "well if you didn't call then nothing would have been done", "You just have to wait, we take our time.". When I requested to speak to a [redacted] or someone in charge I was told " No, because nothing wrong has been done yet." I have inquired about a rental car in the interim and I was informed that a rental would only be covered when my car is being fixed but, it has been over a month and they have yet to give me any information about when that may occur. This has easily been the most disrespectful and brazen rude company that I have ever dealt with.Desired Settlement: I would like for the process to be expedited because the amount of time that has elapsed and the disregard for the consumer is completely unacceptable.

Review: On February [redacted], 2016 at approximately 10 am, I was involved in a motor car vehicle accident with Alberto V[redacted], an insured of the American Transit Insurance Company. As indicated on the police report (which I may provide to you) I was headed through a Green light on Bradley Avenue in Queens, NY, when I was struck on my right hand side of my vehicle by the vehicle that Mr. V[redacted] was driving from Greenpoint Avenue, which had at that point illegally driven through a Red light. There was a witness to the accident, whom immediately approached both vehicles to see how we were. The witness told me that the other vehicle driven by Mr. V[redacted], had illegally driven through a Red light and caused the accident. The police were called and created the police report after speaking to myself, Mr. V[redacted], and the witness. As stated in the police report, the witness states that Mr. V[redacted] went through a Red light causing the accident and damages. I have gone through the process of filing a claim with Mr. V[redacted]'s' insurance company, American Transit Insurance Company, since they are liable for repairs, damages, and other costs attributed to the accident. I have provided them with all of the documentation, police report, costs of towing service from site of accident ($166.57), and any other requirements that they have made of me including emails and phone calls that have yet to be returned by a representative or supervisor. They sent an adjuster from [redacted], inc by the name of Richard S[redacted] (if you need the contact information for Mr. S[redacted] I may provide that to you upon request). He reported the amount of damages and the cost of repairs to American Transit Insurance Company, which they then reported to me at about $1700, not including the towing cost that they also have to pay for. American Transit Insurance Company is not cooperating with completing this process and are dragging/extending the amount of time to pay out the claim. Additionally they have been very unprofessional in providing me with a false/wrong email to contact them. For your reference, I may send you the the police report receipt, the police report itself, the towing receipt, pictures of the damages at the site of the accident, and the email sent to the false/wrong email address provided by American Transit Insurance Company. I feel that American Transit Insurance Company is being very unprofessional, dragging out this process in order to avoid payment, and causing me a considerable amount of stress. I do not mean to get personal, but I am dealing with a high risk twin pregnancy and can not endure the additional stress, time and effort that they are putting me through. Please help me, and thank you for your time.Desired Settlement: Payment of Estimated cost of repairs by the adjuster from [redacted], inc by the name of Richard S[redacted], which was an estimate of $1700 and payment of the towing services from site of accident which was exactly $166.57.

Review: MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT WITH THE ABOVE INSURANCE COMPANY BACK ON NOVEMBER *, 2015.THIS WAS A FOUR CAR ACCIDENT WHERE THE PASSENGERS OF THE TAXI CLEARLY STATED ON THE POLICE REPORT THAT THE DRIVER WAS SPEEDING. HIS RECKLESS DRIVING CAUSED A 4 CAR ACCIDENT OF WHICH ONE OF THE VEHICLES WERE MINE. I SUBSEQUENTLY SENT THEM THE POLICE REPORT ACCORDING TO THEIR POLICY OF ISSUING A CLAIM NUMBER OF 5 BUSINESS DAYS. THAT NEVER HAPPENED, I CALLED AGAIN AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE POLICE REPORT. I SENT IT AGAIN. IT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW OF THE INCIDENT BECAUSE THERE WERE MULTIPLE INJURIES AND 4 CARS WERE INVOLVED. MY VEHICLE IS SITTING IN A TOW LOT AWAITING INSPECTION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE SAFELY OPERATED WHILE THE STORAGE FEE IS BEING TAKEN. IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH!!! I NEED THIS TO BE COMPLETED NOW!!!Desired Settlement: AMERICAN TRANSIT NEEDS TO STOP LYING, GIVE ME A CLAIM NUMBER, INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND EITHER FIX THE CAR OR GIVE ME THE CURRENT VALUE OF THE CAR AND PAY FOR THE STORAGE FEES.

Review: This is in regards to a car accident. My vehicle was hit by a taxi driver who is covered by American Transit Insurance. When I filed a claim against the insurance company, I received a package for form 5 which I faxed back including photographs and estimates from my mechanic. However a week later when I called to ask about the progress, the representative claimed that the [redacted] had already sent out an offer 2 weeks ago without my form 5 and to an incorrect address. I find this questionable because if I was able to receive the form 5 package, why was the offer sent to a different address. In addition the [redacted] by the name of [redacted] put me down at 20% fault even though I was stopped at the red light and it clearly states in the police report that the taxi driver was trying to change lanes which caused damages to the back of my car. When I tried to call [redacted] to explain, he did not return my phone calls. I called the main line again and was told that "[redacted] is upstairs and is available". So I called 2 more times and no response. I'm not getting any responses from this [redacted] and it's absolutely wrong of him to make up a lie about my vehicle stopping abruptly as that was not noted on the police report. On top of that I have contacts to a witness that saw everything and is willing to speak on my behalf. I'm very disappointed and I have no where to go from here because I feel that American Transit Insurance is trying to get away with not paying for my damages by ignoring and not returning my phone calls. It is also wrong of him to come up with a result without seeing my form 5 which even the representative told me that they should not have come up with a decision without my form 5. So this only tells me that they just want to get away with not paying for my damages and tried to make up lies to put me at fault.Desired Settlement: I wish for them to pay for my damages because the taxi driver they represent are clearly at fault for damaging my vehicle. My estimate from my body works mechanic is requesting $1,813.70 to repair my damages. I am expecting American Transit Insurance to pay 100% of my damages.

Review: A taxi driver insured through American Transit Insurance Company hit my car in March 2015. My insurance company, Progressive, tried a numerous times to contact American Transit Insurance Company and sent over the request documents many times since March, but they are not able to get a hold with someone and not able to proceed with the claim.

The claim number is [redacted].

I am very frustrated with all the irresponsiveness. I need this to be resolved as soon as possible.Desired Settlement: I want American Transit Insurance Company to contact my insurance company, Progressive, ASAP to close this claim. The contact # is ###-###-####.
