Review: When we purchased our windows and doors, we were shown the ease of opening the sliding glass doors and windows. They required a fingertip to open. We also upgraded to an allergy prevention package that had additional brushing to prevent allergens from coming into the home.Since the install in December 2014, the rear deck door was difficult to open. The installer at the time said it needed silicone spray lube. Ever since then the door has been more difficult to open. We had an technician out to look at it and he said the door swells in the sun and that makes it hard to open. (We were not told beforehand that this door was made of materials that will swell to the point of affecting the operation) We measured the pounds of pull force to open the door and it was so difficult to pull it exceeded the measurement of our pull force measurement tool which has a maximum of 8 pounds. Since the change of seasons, the other patio door now faces the sun and is difficult to open as well. Both doors exceed 8 pounds of pull force to fully open. The door that was the problem since the install gets increasingly difficult to open as you slide it. When the technician came out to reduce the pull requirement, he removed the brushes at the top and bottom of the door which we thought was the upgrade for allergy reduction. The door pull was reduced but it is still excessive and still requires over 8 pounds of pull to fully open in the sun.The second issue is with the height of the threshold. You need to step over a 3-6" differential between the floor and the slider, which creates a trip hazard. We were not told that there would be such a huge trip hazard at the threshold. I am not sure if the doors were measured incorrectly and they had to put extra buffers and shims all around them to make the doors fit. From the original door frame to the new door frame is a difference of 3 inches at the top and side.Desired Settlement: I would like the doors replaced with ones that will open with the ease as demonstrated to us, and will not swell shut in the hot sun. Also making sure the replacements are not going to require a huge lip all around it so that it creates a trip hazard to enter or exit the home.

American Vision Windows has been in communication with Ms. H[redacted] to address her concerns and had a representative from the manufacture inspect the door which resulted that there was a little less than a 1/16 of an inch bow across from the entire 8' door that does not qualify for a door replacement and is functioning properly to industry standards. Also, at the time of the original installation this project was inspected and passed by the City of Los Angeles building and safety- there was no correction notice required for any product installed by us. Ms. H[redacted] has an update of these inspections and aware of the results at this time.

We have had our windows for about 10 years. We are so happy with them. The representatives were very nice and professional. They worked with us on scheduling and were very open to our questions and concerns. We have called them on a few occasions and they have been very helpful. They really do mean it when they say the quaranty their work. We are so happy we had them do my Mother's house across the street!

Did everything as promised. Best windows, best price, best people. Vet happy with our decision. Added benefit was how quiet our house was after the new windows. We expected energy savings and knew they would look great but the sound difference was a wonderful surprise!

Review: Purchased a complete upgrade of all home windows in January of 2008 from American Vision Windows of Simi Valley (AVW/SV). Kitchen dining area bay window leaked after initial installation. AVW/SV has returned to our home on no less than FIVE separate occasions to attempt to repair this problem. They removed and replaced stucco and glass panes and have tried everything short of replacing the window itself. Most recently, they returned on Aug 9th 2014 and replaced the upper glass panel of the window assembly. As of tonight, the leak is still present. The demeanor of almost every person we have interacted with at this company is highly unprofessional: calls are never returned, workmen show up with no instructions and the problem still exists SIX YEARS LATER!Desired Settlement: We believe we have given AVW/SV more than enough attempts to resolve this issue. At this point, we would like the cost of the bay window materials and installation to be refunded to us in full. We will pursue replacement of this window from another vendor.

I have never sent the responses to Revdex.com before, what we are doing is replacing the window with a new window and that is on order now, we expect completion of the repair within 4 weeks.

Advised the client of additional leaking issues in the home that were not caused by the AVW install.
