Review: I believe that in 2013 that Amerigas purchased a local propane supplier with whom I had existing service. The company was [redacted] Propane and was a subsidiary of [redacted]. After the purchase Amerigas started increasing rates substantially higher than all other local companies and their customer service changed dramatically for the worse. I had negotiated pricing through the company I worked for and when I received a bill that was much higher than the negotiated price I was sent to collections during the time they were trying to resolve the pricing difference. Once that was resolved (to my satisfaction) I started looking for a new supplier. When I was able to find another company I told Amerigas that I no longer needed the tank they has leased to me and to pick it up. They charged me a pick up fee which I protested since that was not part of my contract with [redacted], I advised them of that fact upon receipt of the bill but they continued to bill me and add late charges which I refused to pay. Now the bill is $123.05 and has been sent to collections.Desired Settlement: Stop unfair business practices. Retract unjustified bill and late charges. Remove my account from collections.

Review: Billed for equipment rental

For a few months I have received notifications from [redacted] Propane by mail that I am required to pay a rental fee for their propane tank that takes up space on my property. I have never agreed to a rental fee for the equipment that they claim I owe. If anything, I feel that equipment rental should not be a charge because of my being a customer already. Now, I am receiving collection calls where [redacted] has hired out the debt they feel I owe. This is a rip off to anyone and everyone. I want this addressed for the sake of anyone who is na¯ve enough to pay this fee.Desired Settlement: What I seek is they stop this rental fee practice because it is a rip off. [redacted] Propane is already making money for the propane sold. I could understand if they serviced the tank once a month or even a year. But, I have owned this house since 2005 and I have never paid a rental fee I am aware of. If there has been payment, it has been without my knowledge and that would go against what I believe. Please see to this matter. This fee that [redacted] alleges I owe, I will not pay because I

Review: In July 2013, a service technician came to my residence to find out why the hot water was not workingIn November 2013, I was told by the business that they failed to order the part that the technician entered onto his service ticket.11-22-13, I was informed that the part was not in, which is unacceptable on two fronts: why didn't the part get ordered in the first place and why wasn't an issue of a customer with no hot water made a priority for the business to resolveThis is totally unacceptable and the CEO of the company should and will be made aware of what occurred.Desired Settlement: The kind young lady who was spoken to on 11-22-realized the gravity of the situation and did what she could to quickly resolve the matterHowever, she should not have been placed in this position. So, for four months, I have been faithfully paying a gas bill for services that were lacking at bestThe part should be free

Review: I entered the budget plan of Amerigas and was told the procedures of paying $100.00 a month. However, their was a leak in the tank because I was constantly getting gas. I notified the company that their was a problem. I contacted the headquarters and discussed the issue this summer and they promised that they were going to look into the matter. Later, I received a call from the [redacted] Company about the complaint. However, they wanted me to pay a $1500 in four months. I explained that I had an elder mother who is eighty six years old and that I had children that lived in the home one with a disability. They ask me to shop around for business to help me. However, the bill was forwarded to a collection agency A.R.M. ###-###-#### in the amount of $6, 021.47. There was a problem with the tank and amerigas came out and corrected it. Amerigas took advantage of me. I contacted Amerigas and ask them if they could provide me some propane because of my elderly mother and they stated "NOT UNTIL THE BILL IS PAID".Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE FOR AMERIGAS TO BE HANDLE WITH THIS MATTER. THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION BECAUSE OF THEIR ERROR, AND OTHER PEOPLE. I WAS PAYING THEM MONTHLY ON TIME ACCORDING TO THE BUDGET PLAN AND END UP WITH THIS HIGH BILL. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THIS AMOUNT. I NEED GAS AND A RECOMMENDATION FOR ANOTHER COMPANY.

Review: I was a customer of [redacted] Propane for over 20 years always paid bills on time and participated in prepay programs. The company was sold at least twice and then bought by Amerigas. October of 2013 our tank was filled without contact from us and we were charged $2.79 per gal plus a hazmat fee since it took less than 100 gal. I contacted Amerigas to find out why we were charged such a amount Going price in area was $1.89 and since we didn't request a fill nor sign any agreements with this company in fact we had no contact from them until this billing. I was given a credit for hazmat and price adjusted to 2.39. I paid this bill in full and sent an email and letter stating not to deliver any more propane. We called them in April since they had still not picked up their tank. The tank was picked up in June. AmeriGas claims they sent us a copy of their policies however we did not receive one until May 2014 months after we stopped using Amerigas. Now they are billing us $39.99 for them to come and pick up their own tank. When we made 2 phone calls to try to resolve this issue Sue told us she would not back off the charge and we would be charged late fees and sent to collections if it was not paid. This seems totally wrong since we had not signed any agreement with Amerigas. Please help resolve this problem.Desired Settlement: Charge removed from our statement and account closed as requested

July 29, 2014Dear [redacted]:Thank you for giving Amerigas Propane, L.P. (“AmeriGas”) an opportunity to respond to [redacted]'s complaint regarding his account. AmeriGas takes any complaint we receive seriously, Therefore, upon receipt of [redacted]'s complaint, we investigated the allegations contained therein and provide the following response based on our findings. When AmeriGas acquired [redacted]'s former propane provider, we received his account information and signed lease agreement. Enclosed is [redacted]'s signed lease agreement from [redacted] Propane, his previous provider. His account was transferred to us as a forecasted customer. As a forecast customer, delivery tickets are automatically generated by AmeriGas' proprietary [redacted] software based on degree days, prior usage and the types of appliances using propane, among other things, thus resulting in an automatic delivery being scheduled as forecasted. [redacted] received two deliveries from Americas, August 2013 and November 2013.We received a letter from [redacted] on November 20, 2013 requesting us to cease deliveries to his residence; deliveries were stopped once the letter was received. [redacted] asserts he requested a tank pick up as well, enclosed is [redacted]'s letter and he does not request a tank pickup. [redacted] is disputing our standard $39.99 Service Dispatch Charge for picking up the tank from his residence. Response:

I reject Amerigas response. Amerigas is trying to claim because of a 20 yr old contract they had the right to enter my property and fill their gas tank without my permission written or verbal. They are also trying to infer that because we paid our bill that we were in compliance with their new terms. If Amerigas truly feels this contract that I made and signed 20 years ago with a different company is legal and binding then why won't they live up to the terms of that contract. It appears to me they only want to use the parts that are beneficial to Amerigas. Our first experience with Amerigas they delivered gas in August we did not receive an invoice for that delivery. Upon receiving a late notice I immediately paid the bill online to keep our account from becoming deliquent not knowing the cost per gallon. In November Amerigas made another delivery upon receiving an invoice for that delivery I called to try to negotiate a reasonable price. Amerigas charged $2.79 per gallon while other local companies were Charging $1.89. Amerigas offered to come down to $2.39 which was still too high, I paid the invoice and sent a letter canceling any further deliveries. During this period I do not feel we entered into agreement or contract with Amerigas since we were trying to negotiate terms and never authorized them to deliver to us. When Amerigaws still had not picked up their tank in April I called them for a pickup and was not advised of any charge or the amount of the charge, Amerigas came in June for the tank and billed us $39.95. I called to try to resolve this charge and was told they would not take the charge off my account and if I didn't pay late charges would be applied and the account sent to a collection company. Today we went to the mail box and there was an invoice from Amerigas with a $36 late charge added when the original charge was only $39.95 while we are still trying to resolve this issue. How is this possible in America?

Review: Delivering propane when it was not ordered

On or about the last of September, 2013, they delivered propane to my residence, which I did not order. I have been on an as-needed basis for the three years I have lived there and I have had more than one tank filled. I called them and spoke with [redacted] who acknowledged that I did not order this propane and she advised that it was a new driver. I have written them to try to work this out, but I have had no response.

I heat with propane and heat my water with propane, I cannot run out, but I wanted to get this worked out as I fear they may not deliver any more until I pay this bill, which has blown to over $500.00.

I my one letter to them I tried to work out an arrangement where I would pay what I normally do on a regular delivery, but still no response.

They have me locked in as I understand from the Landlord they cannot switch to another provider because of the hook-ups to the tanks.

I need someone to negotiate with them. Since I did not order it, I do not feel I owe it. I was not prepared at that time to lay out almost $500.00. I am a one income household.

Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I have offered to pay them what I normally would for a regular delivery of one tank, which is approximately $160.00, but no response.

Thank you for helping me with this matter. I have read their response and to date I am not in receipt of any bill/invoice reflecting these adjustments. I received an invoice as recently as last week, with the total amount due of approximately $477.00.

Once I am in receipt of the corrected invoice, I will submit payment at my earliest convenience.

Again, thank you for your help.

Review: Several years ago I purchased a propane tank from AmeriGas at my local [redacted]. The price included $30 for the tank usage. I was told I would get that back when I returned the tank. This was in addition to the propane fee of $20. I just returned the empty tank, which has been used and exchanged, usually once a year. I was told no $30 refund. I also had to give the tank to AmeriGas because it can't be disposed any other way due to the explosive potential of propane tanks. So now they can reuse the tank and charge another $30.I called them and they told me no refund. I have sent an email to them. They owe me $30.Desired Settlement: My $30 back.

Review: Will not pick up propane tank after refusing to fill it for 6 months. Also did not fill tank in spite of several calls during warm months.

Called in August to get a fill -- no show; called in Sept to get a fill - no show; Nov - bill for tank rental; called 12-10-2013 to get tank pick up -- "not paying for an empty tank". Jan 2014 invoiced for tank rental & late charge; called again. Told " We will put you on the schedule". Feb -- another invoice -- called again. March send the company in invoice myself for tank storage since they will not pick up the tank. [redacted] called [redacted] TX -- the location the company is invoicing out of. Told someone from management would be calling me. Person who called said the tank will be pick up by 4-14. Asked for my feedback but interrupted me constantly and would NOT let me finish a sentence.Desired Settlement: Since the company refused to pick up the tank and I have stored it for them for a period a 4 months. I wish to be reimbursed for that service @ $100.00 per month. Thank you

Review: This company has now twice taken my check and/or charged my credit card for propane and then not delivered the propane until a minimum of three complaint calls. This time they billed my credit card three weeks ago and have yet to deliver the product. The [redacted] office continually lies about when we will get delivery but has failed to deliver the propane. Amerigas national call center and another office in [redacted], NC both said they don't understand why we are not getting a delivery and notified the [redacted] office today.Desired Settlement: An investigation into deceptive business practices and unethical use of customer funds to purchase gas they do not have for delivery until enough customers prepay their accounts so the company can purchase the propane. Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: only a partial refund was offered. Amerigas credited back my credit card for $308.16 on 2/18/2014 which was for gas they never delivered, but charged my credit card. They have not refunded me for the gas left in the tank after it was picked up. I am told not to expect a refund for at least three (3) weeks. Amerigas' letter of response indicates they have already refunded me for the gas left in the tank, this is not true. I appreciate Revdex.com helping me find a resolution, but I know Amerigas will never give me my money back.

Review: I have received 2 invoices from [redacted]. for this same account. One being a week after my delivery, which was fine. I said ok so my payment crossed in the mail. Then on Jan 18 2013 I get a late notice stating this payment was never made. I sent a check#[redacted] in the amount of $88.50 for my propane as soon as the delivery driver left the invoice in the door. So discouraged as I was, after receiving the late notice, I called them and asked them if this account had a zero balance acct#[redacted] and they still said no, that it was considered still outstanding. I then told them that I sent a check#[redacted] in the amount of $88.50 for the invoice long before it was due. After a few minutes of [redacted] and waiting for them to respond, they come back on the line stating they found my check but OH it got posted to a different account. After hearing that statement I was quite put out with them. If I had never called about this matter and just let it ride, I was not going to get anymore deliveries till it was paid so they said in the late invoice which was not really late. They just somehow cahed my check and overlooked it. Tell me, Is this the way they do business? If it is they certainly dont need mine. How many more customers are they screwing?Desired Settlement: Refund.

I am requesting an apology as well as some form of credit for my next delivery or they will face court charges. I donot need their greif in my life and if they cant handle their business practices better than this, I would highly suggest hiring a new bookkeeper.

Review: I received a fill up on my Amerigas propane tank at the beginning of July 2014. I called Amerigas [redacted] the day after my service date. I called them to set up monthly payments of $210.00 for the next 11 months. I was told I could do this when I called to set up my fill up appointment. This was the price given to me by the lady on the phone. I was told they had to submit the paperwork to corporate and I would be called back when the paperwork was finished. Two weeks went by. I got paid and went to check my online amerigas account to pay my bill. The monthly payments had not yet been set up. I called and asked why it had not been set up. I was told by the lady on the phone she doesn't have any record of me calling or paperwork being sent to corporate. She told me 3 ladies work in the office and I had not talked to her yet. I asked why notes are not left on customers accounts so each employee can see what the others said to a specific customer. It is now Sep 24th. I have called back every two weeks after checking my account and asked why I am not set up at my monthly payment of $210.00 yet. Each time I am told there is no record of me asking for monthly payments. With the exception of today. Today I talked to Patty. Patty told me paperwork was sent up and corporate denied my request for monthly payments. I was never told you had to be approved for monthly payments. I thought is was a standard service as that is what I was told when I called to get my tank filled up back in July.Desired Settlement: I want to be set up on monthly payments of $210 a month like I was told I would be. I do not want any late charges for I have been trying to pay my bill but have received lack of customer service and competence.

Review: This is my second Complaint filed against Amerigas. In November, 2014 they were to deliver to my landlord who lives at [redacted] Curtis Bay, Md., but put the propane in my tank. I called them and told them their error, but did agree to pay for the delivery. Spoke with Eric G[redacted], who made the mistake I complained about last year. He e-mailed me an invoice and the price of the propane was $4.50367/gallon, way over the average for Maryland in November. E-mailed to recalculate this figure, as I heat, cook, heat water, etc. all with propane. No response. E-mailed him again, no response. E-mailed him again with the prices that I found and told him he was way above and to please re-calculate or I will be contacting the Revdex.com. No response. I am willing to pay half of what I was billed, or approximately$160.00, as this was no my error and at the time since I didn't order, did not have funds to pay for it. I need to get this straightened as the worst of winter is soon hear and I will need propane again before it is over. I have lived at this address for 4 years and they should be getting it right by now. It is really frustrating that he does not respond at least to try to work this out.Desired Settlement: As I said, I am willing to split the cost of this delivery and pay $160.00, which I feel is fair. A friend of mine had oil delivered last week and the cost per gallon was $3.19. All gases should be very comparable in price. Thank you.

I am considering calling them today and pay one-half until this has been resolved and hopefully they will deliver until such time. Thanks,[redacted]

Review: Still no resolution to this email to Amerigas: We called on Monday morning to request more propane for our residential propane tank. We originally switched from [redacted] to ** because of the significantly reduced pricing and better customer service. When Amerigas bought out ** we were not even notified and surprised when we called to have our last fill, that ** had changed to Amerigas. We were told that it would be a week or longer before anyone could get to us-or we could pay a $75.00 fee to have it filled that day. When the guy arrived to fill our tank, he mentioned that he was coming from south [redacted] to [redacted], which we are right along that exact route-literally. In the past we were not charged a $75.00 if we were on the same route as the delivery truck. On Amerigas's website and contract it says the special delivery fee is for requests that are made after hours or on weekends. This call and delivery were made on Monday morning during operating hours.Secondly, the delivery man asked my husband if he wanted him to do a propane check, failing to mention that it would be another $38 charge. The delivery man literally pushed the button and the propane lit right up. My husband is very capable of doing that. The delivery man did not even have to light the propane. My understanding for that charge is that it is if the propane had completely run out and there was not any connection from the tank to the house, and the test had to be conducted.Thirdly, we were charged $3.30/gallon.We initially paid $1.99/gallon then it went up slightly every time. Our last fill in Sept was $2.15/gallon. The national average for residential propane as of 1/15/14 was $2.84/gallon. We would have not blinked at a slight increase, but over a $1/gallon and almost $.50/gallon over the national average?VERY disappointed with the all around pricing and service. At the very least, we would expect a refund on the $75.00 delivery charge and the $38 propane check. The Revdex.com will be contacted there isn't a resolution.Desired Settlement: We would like the $75 refund for out of area fee. Just received a letter from Amerigas's CEO saying they were exempted emergency driver fees to help keep customer satisfaction and demand this season. We would like the $38 charge for the propane check as the driver did not even have to light our propane. We would also like the difference of what we were charged of $3.30/gl and avg price of propane on the day it was filled which was $2.84/gl, which would be $.46/gl and we had 100 gl put in.

Review: Amerigas (AKA) [redacted] Gas [redacted], CA [redacted] ###-###-####

This company keeps charging large premiums and random monthly fees

Once Amerigas bought [redacted] Gas they started charging a great deal more without justification and adding an extra $9.99 in fees per unit just for checking the meters. I own properties in other counties that are much more isolated being charged less. They are currently charging 25% more then their competitors in the same county.Desired Settlement: It would be greatly appreciated if Amerigas could price match with their competitors in the same county without adding a $9.99 fee per unit.

Review: On 01/20/2014 my 250 gallon tank which can only hold 200 gallons was showing 65% full or 162.5 gallons. On 01/21/2014 I received a ticket showing they put 107.9 gallons and my tank was at 35% and they filled it to 80%. This is a discrepancy of 30% or 75 gallons.Desired Settlement: Review of past 3 fills to see average daily usage as I have suspected this for the last 3 but didn't have concrete proof as I do now. Also need 75 gallon credit on my account and someone must verify before and after from this point on.

Review: Continue to bill after account closed.

When Amerigas failed to refil my propane tank in February, I contacted [redacted] Gas to change service. They notified Amerigas that they took over the account and to remove their tank. Amerigas sent me a tank rental notice in April. My wife called them that the account should be closed and to remove their tank. I received a Past due notice in May/June. I called them. They noticed the account was closed but had no order to remove tank. the Agent put in a request to remove. I received another past due notice today. This will be the 4th notification to Amerigas that the account is closed and to remove the tank, and stop billing me for service I don't have.Desired Settlement: I want the account close, the tank removed from my yard, and cancel the past due notices.

Response:

In November, 2015 because of very poor customer service we cancelled our service with AmeriGas and asked that they come pick up their tank. We sent a letter, certified, return receipt requested, asking them to remove the charge for the tank and advising that their tank had been removed to the side of our driveway and to please pick it up. Upon receipt of the letter, we did receive a call telling us the office had taken us off their service and that they would pick up the tank within a couple of weeks. Well here it is one year letter and we received another invoice for tank rental and the tank is still in our way in our driveway.

I regret the day I started business with this company. It went wrong right from the start with their miscommunication. My major complaint would be their price gouging! My first fill for the season was at about 2.10 per gallon which was fine. My second fill for the season they charged me 4.19 per gallon. When I questioned why the price per gallon was so expensive she said because I'm such a low utilizer they charge me more per gallon. When I asked then why was my first fill so cheap she said because I hadn't ordered in a while. I then clarified with her and asked "so you are charging me more per gallon because I don't need as much propane as you would like me to order" and she actually said yes. I even went as far as calling their corporate office to complain and they just referred me back to my local office. I just switched providers and when I called to cancel service they then we're willing to negotiate with me. I'm now getting my propane from another company for 1.59 per gallon. Oh and Amerigas charged me 150.00 for ending services, 100.00 for pumping out the remaining propane from the tank and an additional 40 bucks for coming to pick up their own tank. Don't do business with Americas..... They get ya anyway they can!
